[SP/CO8] A 3 - Antistasi Altis.

Loving the game now I've got a few things worked out.

 

But how do I create an observation post ?

 

I think I need that to fast travel to ?

 

I think I read somewhere to create one with the radio, I've got one in my inventory, I hit 0 but no options.

Ok, I figured it out, they spawn at the HQ on a qaud bike and wait for instructions to move. I've tried escorting them to a point near the observation point I want them to move to. But if I encounter enemy patrol on the way, they get off the quad bike and engage. How do I get em back on the quad bike so I can continue escorting them to destination ?

I played this mission yesterday for the first time.

And i really like it. I knew about this mission Antistasi but never tried it.

 

Thank you for your effort

 

I really don't understand the persistancy save, I'm playing only in SP,

Do i need to save whit persistancy which i don't know what it means or save just normal.

The persistent save saves your mission progress.

For example if you take some base and save next time when you load the save the base will be yours.

You should not use build in arma save because of incompatibility with this mission scenario

There is some strange behavior happening after the latest Arma patch. 

If I try to control the AI on the way to a roadblock or observation post, the objective is instantly failed. 

If I then release AI control, I no longer have control over that group and it just stands there. 

 

Also, it seems easier to make enemy AI leave the vehicle if the tracks is blown off etc.

Also something strange with the mortar crew. 

It doesn't deploy properly, and sometimes the truck drives off before the mortar and second crewmate is loaded. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't so I haven't been able to pinpoint why yet.

You mean once you release control the group does not appear in the HC bar?

It both doesn't appear in the HC bar anymore, and the squad's order is reset, so if you had ordered them to go somewhere that order is cancelled and they just stand in the area where you left AI control. 

I'll dig some more into it, but it worked fine before the latest big patch for arma.

Busy these last days, I'll see if I can get to it tomorrow.. Might have been a change with one of the other mods too, that seemed to work before the patch and now isn't..

 

I'll give you more details after I have checked a bit more. 

 

Edit: yey, server died (like proper died)

Have to check again when I get it up.

Okay, I'm at wits' end here and I'm hoping someone can help me out.

 

I've been running a game of Antistasi for a friend and I for a few days now. The problem is that the persistent save does not seem to be working. 

 

I'm running a dedicated server as well as three headless clients as well as the main game all on the same computer, since I have a 6-core CPU and I'm trying to even the load a bit.

 

If I start fresh, do some things, then save, then leave the mission, close the server window, start the server again, join from my client, and load the save, everything works fine.

 

But every time my friend has joined and we've played, it does not seem to save any progress. In fact, it always loads the same save, even though I've cleared out what I thought was the directory for the persistent save system. This is obviously very frustrating when we play for a few hours (because I just tested the persistent save system and it worked fine, I promise) make some good progress, and then come back later to find that we're still at an earlier point from a completely different version of the mission with none of the things we unlocked or money we made. We've had to start over about three times now.

 

Here's what I can think might be causing this:

1. Running from a dedicated server on the same machine I'm playing on is causing some sort of file access problem

2. I do have some mods running on my client (CBA, one terrain and the CUP terrains core pack, the Nimitz, F-14D and its dependency, and Lesh's towing mod) but the server itself is running no mods that I'm aware of. (I haven't added them to the shortcut arguments)

3. My friend is running some mod (I can't think what) that is causing the problem.

4. This particular save the mission keeps loading is somehow corrupted and not letting the mission save over it?

 

At any rate, knowing where the persistent save information is kept would be very helpful.

The primary issue I'm having is it seems to save fine when I test on my own- the problem only seems to come up when my friend plays as well. This makes it very hard to test things as he doesn't have a lot of free time. I've seen people reference a log file of some sort to help in troubleshooting but I confess I have no idea where to find this.

 

I've searched on Google, as well as through this thread, so if it's been asked already it must have used a wording that hasn't occurred to me.

The whole match data is saved in the server, so, no matter what your friend has, at least things like unlocked weapons, FIA money etc.. should be saved.

 

When you say "it works for me when I do it on my own" you mean in the same environment, server etc.. or doing it in another pc or server on your own?

 

If it's on the same platform, it's very weird.

 

If not, then it is something about the server config and server profile. Your server has a profile?

Yeah, same everything. The only difference is if my friend is also playing or not.

 

I did not have the server on its own profile. I'm still a bit new at all this. I've given it its own profile now, but I won't know for sure if that's fixed the problem until I can test it with him. I'll also make sure nothing is wonky in the config.

 

EDIT- I've run into more weirdness that all seems to stem from the dedicated server. I may just local host for now since I don't think I've got the dedicated server set up properly.

I haven't played this mission for quite some time. I see that since I last played, you have created a website and a version of the mission for Tanoa. That is great!

 

I wanted to ask a question before I download the mission,

 

Last time I played, I recall quite a big issue. It was impossible to mount any kind of motorized or mechanized attacks because every third solider or so, had an AA weapon on him and was able to hit targets with 100% precision from extreme distances. Has it been fixed during the last year or so? I really like this mission, but this issue ruined much of the fun.

Here's a suggestion. How about using RHS GREF and have the Chernorussians represent AAF. National Guard troops would be found in towns and resources/power plants and regular military guarding bases/outposts/check points. Airborne troops could represent Special Forces. Russian VDV could represent CSAT.

i really love this mission, lot's of fun. But i have two issues. I started a mission and i had to rescue refugees. All of them where inside a little house. I added them to my group but they didn't move one meter. How can i move them to my HQ? I ordered them to enter my truck but they didn't move. 

 

The second issue was, there was constant attack by enemy helicopter (i use RHS escalation mod). The helicopter constantly fires on me with MG, kills me, my team members, the refugees or destroys my truck. And i don't have any weapons to fight it. Then (don't blame me please i play SP) i used Virtual Arsenal Everywhere to get an AA launcher and shot it down but after a minute or two the next helicopter arrived. 

 

Any experience how to manage this situation? Best practice? Maybe i am doing something wrong here?

If I remerber well, you have been too much agressive.

That often happenned when you clear few outposts very quickly.

I'm glad to see the evolution of the mission @barbolani. Keep up the good work ;)

First of all.

Best every AI map. Period !

 

I do have a minor problem though.

 

I hope someone can help me here, it's a bit of an odd one.

 

For some reason server membership will not turn on.

 

Is this saved in the vars file ?

 

I have tried starting the server and toggling it from off to on with no effect.

 

Edit: I have just noticed that is says if I have a session with it disabled it will stay disabled.

Is there anyway to turn it back on ?

I tried running the latest version of the mission (with ACE and TFR) on my server last night, but all the enemies were invisible. Does anyone know what could cause this? I made sure to run only ACE and TFR.

Two questions: 

 

1: How do I replace the factions each side plays as? For instance, how do I replace NATO with US Army from CUP and the resistance fighters as Takistani, or whatever? I'd really like to customize the factions and loadouts, as I absolutely hate the new weapons in Arma 3, and the Russian weapons pack is a little "too russian" for me.

 

2: How do I implement the Y key feature from Whole Lotta Altis where it automatically strips all corpses you look at? One of the biggest turn offs to this map is trying to loot 5+ men at a time and load each item into a truck. Absolutely silly clickfest, seeing as how once an area is secure, there is virtually no risk whatsoever. I want to hit a single key and have the items stripped from the corpse and transferred to the nearest vehicle.

I do not think this is easily achievable - if you look through this thread Barbolini states the challenge is based on the weighted value each unit has - I may be wrong about this though. 

 

Loving the new RHS version of this by the way, its great.
