FROSTBITE777 10 Posted January 18, 2015 I would like my VTOL model made into a mod for arma 3, here is the base model- http://i.imgur.com/1Yann8E.png?1 (273 kB) There is to be two mods, unarmed, and armed. It is to be equipped with dual 30mm vulcan gatling guns, a 20mm turret under the cockpit much like an attack heli, an AT Missile pod under the left wing with and an AP missile pod on the right, sounds OP because it is, it is a jet powered modernization of an MV22 with ground attack capabilities, it is also recommended its wing mounted engines handle like this mod- (UCSV) also, the wing mounted engines should act as a replacement for ailerons and rotate as the plane banks and turns, not only to switch between hover and flight modes... It should have slingload capability, the armed version to have only a 1 ton lift capacity and the unarmed to have a 10 ton capability, also the unarmed will be significantly faster. I attempted to make this work myself, but with the lack of youtube tutorials (I'm a visual learner with little code skills) and gave up on making this work myself, If someone could volunteer to help me make this total powerhouse, it would be greatly appreciated! :D The model is near completion, the current model is unarmed and is missing rear landing gear and the cockpit has no instruments, I will finish the model if I ever get a confirmation that this is ever going to be made as a mod. So if you think youve got what it takes to make this badboy fly, hit me up with either a PM or *even easier* an Email to eoliv15@gmail.com If this goes ahead and is completed, my next plan is a larger scale variant, with cargo and gunship roles, likely able to airlift tanks and other extremely heavy objects- this is my inspiration on what it could turn out looking like- http://ptn.home.xs4all.nl/images/vc_33.jpg but with a more bulky body
warlord554 2065 Posted January 18, 2015 Too easy man. Just use the MV22 A2 sample as a reference, mostly the same except jet engines instead of rotors. And slingload capability is a no go with vtol aircraft thusfar in A3. Because, well, an airplane wouldn't slingload
dragon01 902 Posted January 18, 2015 VTOLs in ArmA need to be done as planes, using plane FM. That means all the fancy helo stuff isn't going to work. MV22 sample is likely the way to go, since A3 didn't really concern with improving VTOLs, so there isn't much more that can be done over A2 version.
FROSTBITE777 10 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Im sure we can just use the same flight system used with the UCSV mod I linked in the youtube link right? Its probably modified from the MV22 sample, Its engines seem to act much more smoothly for it rather than the MV22, and rotate independently, one can face forward while the other is slightly behind, makes flight look and feel smoother than the ArmA 2 MV22 with its seemingly solid engines both locked to face the same way at the same time (correct me if I am wrong) but yes, the theory behind this mod is much like the MV22 itself, as for the slingloading, although for the larger variant a workaround could maybe be done by a friend of mine who is quite good with coding and scripts, but I wouldnt guarantee he can do it., possibly a lock-in function like the taru has with its pods, able to secure a vehicle in its main frame during flight But as for this current project (not the heavy VTOL) slingloading isnt a priority, if it can work, I would say why not, but if its too much hassle, the sling loading can be scrapped ---------- Post added at 13:46 ---------- Previous post was at 13:42 ---------- Edited January 18, 2015 by FROSTBITE777
warlord554 2065 Posted January 18, 2015 Any custom flight model can be made, just a matter of testing. But the 22 sample will display needed lods, selections, memory points, etc
FROSTBITE777 10 Posted January 20, 2015 So is there a youtube tutorial for this stuff or is it just "mess around with the tools and try not to break anything" Because I understand nothing about these tools and arma's code. I can only manage opening .pbo files and retexturing things
x3kj 1247 Posted January 21, 2015 Look at the Arma 3 sample plane in the A3 tools Pack... There you have everything you need isolated. Also, consult the biswiki.
Cryofrost 11 Posted July 4, 2016 i guess you gave up on it? such a shame, it was a cool looking model
