[WIP]USAF Red Flag Aggressors - F-16 Re-Texture

The Starting Point

So, i love aircraft a lot, more specifically, the F-16 Standalone mod. I also like really good, quality paint jobs for such aircraft, and figured it would be great if i make the Arctic Aggressor from the Red Flag Squadron. So i made it myself, with no skill, no knowledge of any kind in terms of textures. Got myself paint.NET, and since there were no re texture tutorials that helped me, all were of mine craft and some other type of things, i decided to teach myself. Trial and Error. So far, it's looking pretty good.

I'll be releasing it soon, i'm doing the final tweaks and such to make sure everything is aligned, as i made this texture from complete scratch, no copy and pasta. Hehe.

I'd also like to mention, that if you've got any kind of artistic ability and perseverance, then you can texture starting out. It's not that hard once you find out all the magical disappear points and work with aligning them properly, then it's just patience and more patience.

I'm not sure if i'm doing the Blue Sky Aggressor or the Lizard Aggressor yet, but i'll decide that soon. Having just the Arctic Aggressor alone isn't fun. Thanks to Firewill for such a great F-16 mod and to be able to texture it!

Thanks! I'll be releasing this when i get the other two textures done. I've decided that i will go ahead and do the Blue Sky and Lizard Aggressors as well.

You are right, a basic re-skin using an existing template is not hard at all, and makes for a good place to start for those interested.

With that said, good job, but do you really feel something this simple warrants it's own addon WIP thread? A post in the thread for f-16 skins once it's done would have surely been sufficient.

On a side note, what this plane really needs is some weathering detail. Until it gets some grunge/weathering from an actual texture artist it's always going to look like a toy fresh out of the package. Maybe you are enjoying it enough to take it a step further in the future? :)

Ive got several HQ grunge maps being made for it in my spare time. If it goes public i will give it to firewill to include in his own mod

It's not exactly done yet, this was simply a thread with a progress update of the sorts, i work on this re texture on my free time, which isn't much. But when finished there sure will be more detail and the worthy thanks to Firewill for having such a great and pristine model of an F-16 to re texture in the first place.

In terms of weatherng, the Arctic bandits don't need it. They keep their aircraft tip top shape. That or im just guessing they come out with fresh repaints or something. I've never seen an aggressor with a decent amount of weathering to begin with.

This is what i thought too. Because i remember seeing a picture of one of them and the paint looked almost fresh covering another coat of paint. I couldn't find the picture though.
