Ever feel like the Zeus eagle slightly breaks the immersion or makes it super obvious that you're Zeusing above your team-mates/enemies? Do you also find the "Player is now Zeus" notification a little irritating? Well, so do we - so I made this small mod.

FEATURES

- Disables Zeus eagle

- Disables "Player is now Zeus" notification.

USAGE

This mod must be run on servers (or the server host, if locally hosting an MP game) and not clients.

Running on clients will have no effect.

Can confirm this one actually works guys as we've been using it on a dedi for some time with no errors on RPT unlike many of the alternatives out there

Excellent! I found the function that created the eagle quite a while ago and meant to do exactly this...but I totally forgot until now.

That's weird! The recent arma update (1.42) changed it so that you can no longer override bis_fnc_... functions. If adding "recompile=1" circumvents those new protections, they'll probably patch that workaround away in the next release.

If they don't, then what's the point behind the change in the first place? I wish BI would just communicate their reasoning a bit more.

Our ZEAGLE killer is currently not available... he's aware it needs fixing - I'm sure he'll get around to is when he can.

Fantastic!

My only gripe is that I had to download PwS ;)

Edit: PS, as it's a server only mod, there's no need for signatures and keys. Servers can run whichever mods they please, regardless!

There's also a Dropbox link on the front page (was actually already there before the PwS update) for those of you that don't like using PwS.

@Beazley I didn't actually provide any signatures/keys for this reason, but Six automatically signs all PBOs when you upload a mod to their servers (which is pretty neat, regardless) :p

Hey just a heads up - Dropbox link and therefor armaholic link is an outdated version. Modify date sometime in january (first release)! Please let us kill the eagle again without PWS!

Disabling the eagle was possible since the release (you can also use different object, for example "seagull")

myCuratorModule setVariable ["birdType",""];

Notifications cannot be currently disabled. I added the possibility, it should be available in the next patch:

myCuratorModule setVariable ["showNotification",false];

Also, the exploit with recompile = 1 will be fixed. Sorry.

Oh. I wonder how many others didn't know this was possible.

Expanding on Moricky's information for those needing a step-by-step guide:

In the Editor

Place a Zeus Game Master module. In the module properties:

NAME: myZeusName
INITIALISATION: myZeusName setVariable ["birdType",""]; 

That Zeus no longer has an avatar.

"myZeusName" can be anything you like of course.

And in the next patch

INITIALISATION: myZeusName setVariable ["birdType",""]; myZeusName setVariable ["showNotification",false];

No Zeus avatar, no notification.

One redundant mod. :rolleyes:
