Changing texture path in P3D with MoveObject, retexture without hiddenSelections

Hi!

I would like to retexture, among other items from vanilla A3, the Mk200

machinegun and the ARCO optic. As far as I know, they don't have

hiddenSelections defined and so reskinning through config is not possible.

Now, I've found out about a tool (MoveObject) by Mikero that supposedly can

edit paths in p3d models to point to a new texture, but this would require

distributing this p3d along with the mod. I am wondering what BI's stance is on

this, if it is okay. It would be BI's content only, only from the base

A3 game without DLC and not from other addon creators.

The retextures would be continuing a winter theme I've started here:

I don't think so, because it's all binarized to protect their work. I'm not sure. Ask someone from BI, they'll answer you.

Personally this sounds like HEX editing which falls with reverse engineering which is not allowed with BIS content. I think the sensible soloution would be to submit requests on the tracker for hiddenselections to those items.

I see. Yes, my ticket on the feedback tracker was assigned to Locklear by himself this morning. I will wait for results. :)

Hi, I'm in this exact situation. I would only use these modified p3d inside of an arma mod.

 

What did they reply?
