so any volunteers for re-texturing any of these beauties?

we can get them in game pretty quickly, but without a decent Vietnam era texture, there's not much point.

well if it's the H-series ya got then it's what ya got... just hope Early models like the D-seires gets added cause the quad 50s are what shot down those two MiG 21s on the Linebaker II Raid of Hanoi in '72

but mainly cause of what Wiki says and I quote "the D model was used more extensively in Vietnam than any other model. Aircraft assigned to Vietnam were painted in a camouflage colour scheme with black bellies to defeat searchlights."

The last 2 you can tell by the Airvents on the top where the . 2 next to each other you see on slicks. the C model looks like that (under), underneath eachother.

The pics with the .50s are definitely either D or H models since they have double-windowed doors and longer cabins.

/\ Not sure how extensively reliable but DOES seem to provide some input on the matter stating the Nighthawk & Firefly UH-1s which were D & H variants.

 

Definitely a TONNE of those pics show the 50 cal armed on the D or H variant, including "pictures of them in action" when on mission (Again reliability may come into question but if they are real and period correct you have pictures of both the variant with it and it's use in combat).

well thanks to a very generous donation from snakeyes, we have our new RPD on order.

 

meanwhile, here's an old airframe from sfc_itzhak, come to us by way of wld427 and the PRACS mod. it's a great old bird, that will be replacing our old binarized only model.

 

So this week I have done the following:

- rebuilt geometries and shadow including  completely high detail new fire geometry
- fixed rvmat pathing
- fixed components

- removed duped uvmaps

- edited textures, made new camo variant

- made new set of decals

- added randomised numbering and unit designation

- remapped parts of cockpit display, and engine cowl

- fixed transparency issue

- added clutter
- added hitpoints including all glass
- added damagehide
- created damage rvmats
- added damage visual selections
- rationalised passenger and gunner proxy indexes
- added lights, markerlights, backlighting and cabin lights
- animated dampers and wheels
- working ramp animation and action

- added new  collective and pedals, animated those and sticks

- upgraded cockpit display, now has >30 animated dials
- fixed rotor damage (autocenter issue)
- moved tanks and CMs to proxies
- added slingloading, music, smoke, nade and flare drop

- added variant configs (turrets)
 

completed so far:

- added unarmed transport version

- added m60 version

- added medevac version with 24 litters and custom decals

 

to do:

- 2x M2 variant

- 3x M2 variant

- 3x 134 variant

This is probably the most beautiful content I have ever seen lately in ArmA 3. I literately had to change my pants twice... DAMN!

I gotta say that It's been a long time since ArmA 2 that I saw an actual working model of the older CH-53, and it is a beauty :eyeheart:

 

I used to serve in the Israeli Air Force for 5 years before I was discharged about two months ago, and my occupation was a CH-53 Yas'ur mechanic, an occupation I mastered in during 4 years of school. So, yeah, this is for me a an awesome addition to ArmA 3.

 

On a side note, from my understanding that this model is old (correct me if I'm wrong), therefore it lacks many small details and and some inaccuracies but overall can't wait to fly the shit of out of it.

 

Thank you very much for your dedication and hard work, you can't stop to amaze us, huh? :don11:

yeah we have a guy lined up to retex it - and the model has some old legacy issues in the mesh that need straightening out.

if you see any glaring inconsistencies do let us know and we'll see if they can be rectified. can't promise though!

I did a little research to find detailed footage of both the CH-53 and HH-53 during the Vietnam War, and found very little to work with, but I believe they will be enough (apologies if you already know and use this content).

 

Also, here's a very short list of some small details that should be fixed:

1. Both the "AIR INTAKE" and "BEWARE OF BLAST" are need to be textured in red.

2. The "RESCUE" arrows under the cockpit pilots windows are need to be textured in yellow.

3. It seems that that this particular model is somewhat mirrored, as there some vented panels misplaced.

yep, thanks for those, i can link the post to the texture artist directly.

i wanted to get the model and config sorted before letting him loose on it.

in particular our camo version doesn't stretch to the tanks yet, am keen to see those done, along wit hthe other parts like warning notices - some high-res properly formatted content for those will be great to add.

based on Sk3y & Feldhobels awesome work on the "camofaces" mod, I made some camo faces for the Unsung Vietnam mod for my own use and would like to contribute the faces I made

- if it fits your quality standards- I am aware that the camo textures are not very elaborate - I just used a 50% overlay layer on the original faces...

 

I made 3 slightly different patterns (they look quite similar tbh) and have also painted the arms & hands a little as you can see on the screenshots

 

work is complete for 19 faces right now - here some examples:

hiya, so in less than 3 sentences what is your mission Salvation? and how can people play is using unsung?

sorry but your homepage for the mission is a little confusing - it implies you need a lot of mods, and maps, and not vietnam era particularly.

Hello eggbeast and thanks for asking ,

 

it is a survival mission based in the features (thirst + hunger and loot system) of Ravage mod, that can be played from one player to coop mp or PVP (like Dayz gameplay), with a modular environment, selections via missionparameters for everything included ,environment,ambience,loot,enemies,type of mods that you want to play with,

ex: Unsung loot items + VC_Village_Guerillas enemies and can be played to every map,by changing the name of the map,

ex: SALVATION.CSJ_SEA ( the selection of the map will have effect to the loot spawned cause of the buildings.)

ok sounds neat, so it is co-op? not pvp?

and what food / drink etc items are needed? this must be in another additional mod correct?

what mods are required to play it?

is it a server side job, with a database back-end like exile/ dayZ?

Yo can play this mission as coop or PVP with AI enemies or not .

You can select what type of enemies ,  according the mods you want to use.

The survival system and items used , is the Ravage mod.

The type of loot for weapons , vests etc , can also be selected between , Vanilla-Apex , CUP and The Unsung mod

and the percentage of loot can be adjusted according the Map selection

(can be counted from the server by hitting 0-0-2 in game).

It doesn't need a server running , like exile and you can play this also on Dedicated.
