Blood pool removed?

Recommended Posts

If the Geneva convention thing was only an excuse, it was another big BI mistake to make such big hay out of the uniform changing in early, widely disseminated promo videos. Along with how they were modelling shotgun pellet dispersion. Why do they continue to make trouble for themselves? Makes A3 look like a management train wreck.

SetCaptive is a powerful command, and BI has beautifully handled much more complicated issues. It seems to me like BI could have figured out a way to handle enemy in friendly uniforms....But only they truly know all the ramifications. Again, expediency, the Greek debacle, rushed timelines, management changes, shifts in priorities, and other business/staffing pressures come to mind.

Just making the blood pool a more opaque, deep red would possibly suffice at this time, although they could go much further.

It's weird when i shoot on a enemy AI/player in sp or mp, i never see blood pools. But some patches before it was there. Same with blood splatters on ground.

No blood at all? Odd, I recall that when you shot someone they would leave a trail which was helpful for tracking purposes..or maybe I'm thinking Arma 2?

It's a shame they removed the blood pool, Also i like using Sakuras blood mist, slightly over the top but a nice way to register a hit.

It would be nice to see some artistic freedom here, I don't need dismemberment gore gibs but currently the dead in Arma remind me as a child playing with the small plastic soldiers and knocking them over when they die, i like coming across dead bodies in this game but it is a bit of a let down when you see them up close.

If we count the bulletproof vests and no vfx blood at all, when hitting target, it really looks like what katipo66 said : Plastic soldiers.

Arma desperatly needs a VFX (and lighting) artist. I'm pretty sure they havn't got any.

Nope. Blood trails were even "featured" on previous year's E3 and other shows.

Again, for me the lack of any type of gore is techincal - the engine sucks when it comes down to particles, textures on textures (glass\eyewear = invisible things, you know..) and dynamic generated things (how gore was made in mods? Delete body and spawn limbs, weird stuff happened now and then).

If Doom had gore in 1993, then A3 could have just a little in 2014. And Doom really was meant for teenagers. :D

The blood trails are definitely there: http://gfycat.com/WateryWarmFowl

But the blood pool seems bugged. Maybe his canteen was hit: http://gfycat.com/BlondSelfishBlackbuck

edit. ok, twas already mentioned. Have a video anyway.

I wonder if BIS does even know that those are bugged? I didn't even know that those exists in A3.

I think the earlier Alpha versions had more blood , after some time it was reduced or got bugged

For me it looks like a texture bug with the flashlight and on day with sunlight.

Yep. Looks like a bug that someone noticed almost a year ago. I updated that old ticket which contains those image links in your post: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=17244. Still, BI could have done this by design...don't know.

If BI'S is worried about the 18+ clasification, why they don't do like Creative assembly with ROME II and Shogun II ? make it a small DLC and those who want it buy it and the other just play the core game ... that work great with the total war serie ! ;)

If TW was really worried about the 18+ classification they were going to make the DLC blood&gore at 0,50€, not 5€. They just menaged to find another way to get easy bucks. In a war game 90% of the people wants to see blood. ;)

i didn't know that ^^ last time i check the shogun dlc cost 0.40 $ but it could be a promo ! But it could be a good idea if the DLC is sold for 0.5$

Burning people like in some OFP mods would be nice too:

The 'king of gore' remains the good old Soldier of Fortune though ;)

^ ^ Kick ass. Here is the key to the awesomeness of that Soldier of Fortune vid:

No gore but the guys at full blast on bus. Got rhythm?

A good score for Arma 4 (;)):

Remember: THIS IS WAR.

The gore was definitely impressive from technical side from Soldier of Fortune 2 which was made in 2002.

Think it was a matter of programming resources allocated on gore aspects other than simulation (Arma).

I find it disturbing that in Arma soldiers don't even shout in pain when shot (for instance, your character shot to the leg and must lay down immediately).

Little details as above make the most intense battles not very immersive. Modded OFP is much better in this area :D
