bakubaku 0 Posted September 24, 2002 I am using WinXP with nVidia 30.82(GF2 MX) driver and display device set to DirectX at OFP preference. On SP mission 04 Ground Attack. When I fly the chopper, I notice some shimmer on the road(Some terrain texture display on top of the road on and off). Then I set the display device to DirectX HW T&L at OFP and try the same mission. The shimmer is gone. Is there any other nVidia driver solve this problem. I can set it to HW T&L to avoid this problem but terrain seems to have some weird lines across the polygon with HW T&L setting. Thanks.

Mister Frag 0 Posted September 24, 2002 The shimmer can be eliminated by using Anisotropic Filtering. There is a performance penalty, of course, but it does address the problem. You can control AF using programs such as RivaTuner, which you can get from Guru3D.

Have you tried w-buffer in the options window?
bakubaku 0 Posted September 25, 2002 thanks ALDEGA!! you solved my problem. i heard somewhere that w-buffer is used to compensate the depth precision problem when playing 16-bit but dont know why even playing 1024x768-32bit, it is on by default.
