what makes me laugh is - when Greeks (dark eyes, black hair) say about aryan, and when right wing (who should be anti-communist, anti-occupants support Russia who was occupying and who has USSR still alive in hearts )all right wing people i know - are anti-Russian, and hate Hitler,

Uhm, dark eyes and black hair... let's see... Adolf Hitler: dark eyes and dark hair; Heinrich Himmler (SS top boss): dark eyes and black hair (and Asiatic features); Joseph Goebbels (aka Mr. Propaganda): dark eyes and black hair; Martin Bormann (NS-DAP second figure): dark eyes and black hair...

thinking of European "far right" (or far-left commies) who support Russia is rotfl, it is like non-Germans praising Hitler - always making me laugh, when people support the one who would gas-chamber them because being non-German, really lol, can be only compared to gay or lesbian supporting Islam and rights of Muslim minority to have Sharia here :D

It's easy, when low educated people feel weak they want to feel strong so they gather with the nearest bully. That's what fascism is, and what Putin is selling to the weak Russia, that being a bully-country makes them strong. When we all know what being a bully only shows that they are weak, and have no other arguments to convince than fear. Putin doesn't realize that he is isolating and destroying Russia's economy, in the same way the USSR leaders did.

Today we have another example, Russia implicitly threatens Denmark of becoming the target for their nukes:

(Reuters) Russia threatens to aim nuclear missiles at Denmark ships if it joins NATO shield

(The Telegraph) Russia warns Denmark its warships could become nuclear targets

So far it was only a suspician in the last years that the russian government and Putin are backing european right wing parties but the claim supports no evidence so far.

So to all in this thread who get to easily caught by certain media articles with reports which could be smiliar like Putin is responsible for Ebola and Putin is responsible if someone farts....an article with some thoughts and background infos about these media reports.

The bogus think tank behind Russia's 'infiltration' of Europe myth (BI UK - February 18th 2015)

Over the past few years a sinister story has been doing the rounds throughout the world's press — that Russia has been infiltrating Europe through deepening ties with far-right parties.

It's a great headline that vividly recalls the Cold War days of Soviet moles in prominent positions across Europe and the puppet masters in the Kremlin pulling the strings.

--> It's also (mostly) nonsense.

The first thing to point out is that the story is not new. It's been written about repeatedly since at least 2009 (and very likely before that as well). But with the Ukraine crisis raising people's concerns over the possible threat posed by Russia the subject has suddenly leapt in importance.

Last year, Mitchell Orensteinhe from the august title Foreign Affairs told us that "[Putin's] regime is growing closer by the month to extreme right-wing parties across Europe", while Time magazine claimed the Kremlin was "embracing the European right".[/u]

And in Europe itself German newspaper Spiegel Online warned that "cooperation between the European far right and Russia has been developing for some time" while the Guardian accused the Kremlin of having "actively cultivated links with the far right in eastern Europe".

Those are just a tiny sample of the wealth of coverage that this story has generated over the past 12 months. Mostly they repeat the same claims — that pro-Russian statements by these parties are proof of Russia's involvement in a plot to undermine Europe's political establishment that has been weakened by years of economic crisis and social unrest.

None of these articles offer much evidence beyond a few choice quotes from Russian politicians and public relations officers expressing their broad support for nationalist movements attached to a few anecdotes.

So what are the facts behind these claims?

This is what we know: In 2014, French far-right party National Front party was granted approval for a €9.2 million loan from First Czech Russian Bank, based in Moscow. The FCR Bank is owned by Roman Popov, a government-friendly oligarch, but it's not a specifically government-controlled bank.

There are also unsubstantiated rumours that Russia has also funded Greek neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn and right-wing Italian party Northern League, while Bulgaria's far-right Ataka party was alleged to have close ties with the Russian embassy in a diplomatic cable made public by Wikileaks.

Even Syriza, Greece's radical left coalition that took power in last month's election, has been accused of having close ties to Moscow in recent weeks.

These may be indicative of Russia fanning the flames of dissent in Europe, but they do not prove the case that Russia has actual control or genuine political influence.

Here is an extract from a 2009 article by think tank Political Capital, the source often cited as the origin for the story:

Recent press reports claim that extreme right-wing parties in Europe are being financed – at least in part – by Russia. While such allegations are wanting for proof, it is a fact that far-right parties in several eastern European countries have become prominent supporters of Russian interests and admirers of the Russian political-economic model.

In recent months some of the evidence used to support these claims has become downright bizarre.

A website for a supposed new think tank called the "Center for Eurasian Strategic Intelligence" (CESI) mysteriously appeared last year. The website claimed to "provide analysis and surveys of political, economic and security processes in Eurasia region".

---> And so it did. In December it produced a research report showing all of the political parties in Europe that it claimed were under the thumb of Moscow.

Unfortunately, a large chunk of its research appeared to have been plagiarised from other sources and its analysis appeared suspiciously superficial.

--> Since Shekhovtsov's investigation the CESI website has been taken down, as has Fowler's Facebook page.

(more about this dubious CESI Think Tank organisation in the article)

It is undoubtedly true that Russia is happy to accept useful idiots who are willing to argue against what it sees as an anti-Russia consensus within the European Union. However, that they are willing to indulge nationalist movements is not the same as controlling them or using them as a Trojan horse in European politics.

Beyond that one loan to the French National Front, there is no evidence that Moscow is funnelling huge sums of cash to fuel nationalist movements all over Europe.

Much though we might like to blame the rise of the xenophobic, authoritarian right as a product of Moscow's devious plotting, the support for these parties appears to be largely organic and springs predominantly from the general disillusionment with mainstream politics that can be seen across Europe.

In other words, they're our fault, not Putin's.

Sorry guys, some points like the meeting of the far right in St. Petersburg are of course questionable but it seems you are off the track with your other thoughts about european right wing and russian government ties.

Sorry guys, some points like the meeting of the far right in St. Petersburg are of course questionable but it seems you are off the track with your other thoughts about european right wing and russian government ties.

What ties do you mean? No one said that: "Moscow is funnelling huge sums of cash to fuel nationalist movements all over Europe.". Neither that "Russia is infiltrating the far-right parties".

What we wrote is that the main Far-right and neo-nazi parties are in love with Putin and his policies, because it's what they want for their countries (huge fascist empires). You only have to read their websites and speeches.

That Russia promoted that parties yes again, it's a proven fact, this meeting is a good example. It's not that the Kremlin is hiding it.

Read again what I said, about why some low educated people fall for the fascist "glorious" empty promises:

It's easy, when low educated people feel weak they want to feel strong so they gather with the nearest bully. That's what fascism is, and what Putin is selling to the weak Russia, that being a bully-country makes them strong. When we all know what being a bully only shows that they are weak, and have no other arguments to convince than fear. An interview with the Russian 'Troll Army'.

http://www.svoboda.org/content/article/26913247.html

There are all sorts of Internet forums, for each city and region of Russia. Someone posts a piece of news, and then we all make a comment under it. The group is divided into three people: one 'evil' guy, who claims that he doesn't support the Russian government, insults the Kremlin, to give the scene some credibility. The other two then reply that he's incorrect - one gives an appropriate 'image' (demotivator) and the other a link to an article.
Thus our trio goes around the entire contry, visiting every forum from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, upholding an imaginary discussion on these websites, write something and reply to each other. There are key words, tags required for search engines. We're given 5 key words for each assignment, and each one of our comments must contain those specific words. And we can't change the endings of these words either (past tense, feminine etc), they must be exactly as given.

By the way, here the company offers vacancies:

Russian Tu-95 Bomber Intercepted By Japanese Air Force Jets

A Russian Tu-95 bomber was intercepted off the coast of Japan on two separate occasions on Mar. 20, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, which released the details of the incident on Monday. The bomber, also known as the Bear from its name in NATO code, was spotted over the Korean Strait between South Korea and Japan’s Kyushu Island before being intercepted by F-15J fighters and escorted away from the busy strait.

While media coverage of Russian warplane activity has concentrated on the Baltic regions, Japan has seen a large increase in Russian activity over the last year. According to a Reuters report, the Japanese Air Force intercepted Russian warplanes 369 times in the last three months of 2014, four times as many as 10 years ago.

The country has also intercepted a near-equal number of Chinese jets in that time.

Russian foreign minister: attempts to organize state coup in Venezuela inadmissible

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday any attempts to interfere into Venezuela’s domestic affairs and the United States’ sanctions against Venezuelan citizens are inadmissible.

"Russia and Cuba have reiterated their solidarity with the people of Venezuela, with the legitimate authorities of that country. We consider any attempts to interfere into domestic affairs of that state, illegal sanctions imposed by the United States against a number of Venezuelan citizens inadmissible," Lavrov told journalists during his visit to Havana.

He stressed that "attempts to organize a state coup are inadmissible." "We hail the Venezuelan government’s efforts to promote national dialogue, national accord with the constructive opposition. We believe that a mediatory mission of the Union of South American Nations (USAN) may play a useful role in this process," he said.

Drive from Europe to the U.S.? Russia proposes world's greatest superhighway

According to a March 23 report in The Siberian Times, Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin has proposed a plan for a massive trans-Siberian highway that would link his country's eastern border with the U.S. state of Alaska, crossing a narrow stretch of the Bering Sea that separates Asia and North America.

150325102725-trans-siberian-road-map-exlarge-169.png

Dubbed the Trans-Eurasian Belt Development (TEPR), the project calls for a major roadway to be constructed alongside the existing Trans-Siberian Railway, along with a new train network and oil and gas pipelines.

"This is an inter-state, inter-civilization, project," the Siberian Times quoted Yakunin. "The project should be turned into a world 'future zone,' and it must be based on leading, not catching, technologies."

The road would run across the entirety of Russia, linking with existing road systems in Western Europe and Asia.

Who's gonna pay for this thing?

Yakunin has been described as a close friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Some sources have speculated that he could be Putin's likely successor as president.

TEPR would reportedly cost "trillions of dollars."

According to Yakunin, however, massive economic returns would more than make up for the massive cash outlay -- about which the report also included no details.

Eyeing Russia nervously, Poles enrol in volunteer militias

Spurred by the war in Ukraine, growing numbers of Poles are joining volunteer paramilitary groups to get basic military training and prepare to defend their homeland from what some see as a looming Russian invasion.

The Polish government has kept its distance from the unofficial civilian militias but, with anxieties about Moscow's intentions growing, the professional military is now looking for ways to harness the volunteer groups.

Poland is a member of NATO, but the defense alliance rejected requests from Warsaw to establish a substantial permanent presence on Polish soil. That has shaken Poles' faith in NATO's resolve, officials in Warsaw say.

Instead, Poland is counting on a bilateral defense partnership with the United States, while building up its own defense capability, both conventional and unconventional.

Many defense analysts say a Russian attack on Poland is highly unlikely. Countries such as Moldova, Latvia or Estonia, with substantial Russian-speaking minorities, are much more likely targets, they say.

But suspicion of Moscow runs deep in Poland, which was ruled by Czarist Russia for over a century and under Soviet domination for over four decades after World War Two. It borders on Russia's Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad.

Moscow denies it has any plans for an offensive and says it has no direct role in the fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Iosif Kobzon, Russian Duma member, told teachers to be 'more tolerant and remember executions of World War Two'. Over 60 teachers across 4 schools in the Zabaikalye Region have quit their job due to not receiving a salary.

This is the same fecker that complained that he can't go to Germany to get his cancer treatment, as a result of the sanctions. Russian politicians are one big joke.

Saudi Arabia just sharply attacked Putin for hypocrisy in the Middle East

http://www.businessinsider.com/r-putin-letter-to-arab-summit-triggers-strong-saudi-attack-2015-3

"We support the Arabs' aspirations for a prosperous future and for the resolution of all the problems the Arab world faces through peaceful means, without any external interference," Putin said in the letter.

I think other countries could apply this rule to Ukraine as well since giving weapons to besieged countries isn't external interfering.

In fact Putin has influenced in Ukraine giving military support, funding, affecting the elections etc. since he became the President of the Russian Federation for the first time in 1999.

Yanukovich was one of his supported puppets, and the Kremlin went so far to rig the elections of 2004 that lead to the Orange Revolution.

He, the one that is providing weapons, also the one who recognizes to have ordered the invasion and annexation of part of Ukraine and sent people to cause trouble in the East that derived in a full war.

Crimea was formally absorbed into Russia on 18 March, to international condemnation, after unidentified gunmen took over the peninsula.

Mr Putin said on TV he had ordered work on "returning Crimea" to begin at an all-night meeting on 22 February.

The meeting was called after Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted.

"I was the one who pulled the trigger of this war," Strelkov said in an interview published Thursday with Russia's Zavtra newspaper, which espouses imperialist views.

"If our unit hadn't crossed the border, everything would have fizzled out — like in [the Ukrainian city of] Kharkiv, like in Odessa," Strelkov, who uses that nom-de-guerre meaning "Shooter" to replace his last name Girkin, was quoted as saying.

We have to remember who Strelkov is working for:

(IB Times) Igor Strelkov admits Russia FSB affiliation in Kremlin-censored interview

And then Putin says that no one should interfere in Ukraine's internal affairs...

The 'patriotisation' of Russian literature.

The President of Russian Book Union claimed that it is necessary to create a special committee whose task would be filling schools, universities, libraries, hospitals etc. with 'patriotic literature'. This committee would also motivate modern writers to come up with a new patriotic hero.

For example, as the writer Sergei Shargunov claims, this hero should be working for free, and also not caring for his own well-being on an ungrateful job. "The modern hero should be someone from the bottom of society..."

Any by the way... In these articles comrade Giorkin says that he is responsible for Donbass war. That is not true, because he is just a Kremlin's goon and without Vladimir's acknowledgment he wouldn't even let off a fart.

Tbh as a country government(no matter from which nuke power this comes from) you must be really braindead to threaten other countries with atomic war when it will result in your own destruction as well. And if someone would be that insane(for ex Putin) maybe the russians that back him and have a hard-on regarding the nuke war should inform themselves what exactly happens to them when a nuke war starts.

Maybe they'll get very excited too when they're vaporized or if they're lucky enough to survive the initial exchange good luck living in the aftermath.Lately Putin is throwing a bit too often the nuke war phrase,he is either bluffing or he is pretty stupid.

Not necessarily, if that's a bluff that assumes, opponenent wouln't like to risk such confrontation against "the madman with the finger on the button" - it may be quite cunning tactics for nuke power to play a braindead madman, to whom better to give way, than irritate. That's IMO the political power of nuclear weaponry. Not perspective of reasonable use of it (there isn't such use really). Russia decided to use this political power. Even if we could suspect, it's a bluff, who would risk such a mistake?

Very true and that works for a while, but after a time there's a line. For example if they start to "annex" NATO countries like Estonia and Lithuania I doubt this bluff could work.I don't see NATO saying "yeah we won't lift a finger to get back our territories because we're afraid they might use nukes".

(BBC) Russian nuclear submarine fire 'put out' in Arctic dock

A fire that broke out on a Russian nuclear submarine at an Arctic naval shipyard has been put out, Russian media report. [...]A shipyard's spokesman said that no environmental or radioactive contamination had occurred.

Hopefully that is true. Although the Russian government has a habit of hiding such information from the public eye.
