Colonial marines mod

I was wondering if there is any plans to make or is there in production a Colonial Marine's mod? I checked through the boards and could find reference to no such mod. Is there one planned as I would be willing to help by providing information on them.

BTW the game rocks, I've had it for over a year and hope you make a sequel/expansion biggrin.gif

Got these into milkshape3d from the Aliens vs Pred game along time ago but haven't played around with O2 yet or had the time to even try. But if you can bring something in from milkshape or convert then I wouldn't think it would take that long.

I do recall seeing someone posting pics of their work on getting the apc into O2 but never heard anything about it after.

hey mate ... I love aliens and the equipment they utilized (APC & droop ship.....even the sulaco mothership) so if ya want send me the obj files and i got max4 so i'll convert them for ya into 3ds or p3d.

Thanks peeps.

The reason I was asking is cause I have the old technical manual and was hoping someone out there might be doing one. I was talking about the colonial marines featured in Aliens. I've been looking around different sites but I can't find any mention of one. I assume that there isn't one planned, if someone has spoke to someone or has heard of one planned please let me know, I'm willing to help.

It was mentioned a few times wehn the topic of what happened to the aliens APC. Its hasn't been BUMPED... so i don't know whats going on. But i would love to see Colonial marines based mods. I'm all for it.

It is possible to make working Aliens though with OFP? I know there is a melee attack option available somehow, but it seems like an awful lot of work to build and animate alien models. I suppose the mod could be okay with marines versus other marines but without the aliens it's a bit sort of... bleh.

Without the corridors and aliens and assorted cool stuff it just becomes Starship troopers... Except that had big spidery aliens in it too. Hmm. Personally I can't think of many games less suited to an Aliens mod than OFP, if only because OFP is not really suited to close quarter combat, which is what all the USMC kit is designed for.

Strikes me as if somebody could just reinvent the skirmish mode from AvP1 and put it in AvP2 things would be perfect.

Hmm making the aliens would be hard, but the colonial marines didn't just fight aliens. There was war with other goverments, and colonist's on planets. That's what I was thinking about, it wouldn't be that hard to do, and I can give you all the info on the ships they used if that helps.

the aliens would be totally dumb in ofp. but the marines would fit perfectly.. unfortunately there is zero info given about possible human opponents, other than vague references to colonists, chinese, and british opponents in the technical manual. so someone would have to design some equipment for the oppsoing forces. i know zero about computer programing, but i have a slew of ideas for opposing forces and gear that ive had bouncing around for years now, so if anyone is seriously gonna do this contact me and ill be happy to share.

If Aliens could be made to work properly in OFP they would be pretty cool, since it might be possible then to set up some major pitched battles like some that occur in the books. However OFP simply couldn't handle it unfortunately.

Something else I don't think OFP could handle is how technologically advanced the Aliens universe battlefield would be. Even now compared to 1985 the technology has improved immensely, more importantly the levels of information integration are massively higher.

To do an USCMC mod properly is simply impossible unless you can find a way to intergrate bioreadouts and helmet mounted cameras into the command interface. Also you need motion detectors, sentry guns, self targetting smartguns, unmanned scout vehicles, combat synthetics and a myriad other things.

At best all I can see happening is some new models, some new guns and some new vehicles.

i know its off-topic, but that would be cool, to see a real mod or TC for tribes 2, let alone a Colonial Marines based one.
