game cannot start (error message at startup)

game cannot start (error message at startup)

it says "the procedure entry point CreateFX could not be located in the dynamic link library arma 3.exe"

screenshot here http://i.imgur.com/vbJLxDd.jpg (202 kB)

googling the error didn't help me

Things I tried:

-reinstall the game

-verify cache

-reinstalling directx11(dxsetup from the arma 3 folder itself, and from MS website)

-all the redistributables are already installed as well

-compatibility mode

-nobenchmark and a bunch of launch commands

-deleting arma 3.exe and redownloading it

-update video drivers

can anyone help me?? btw it was working like 6 months ago, when I tried playing it again recently(I didn't play for a long time) this is the problem, and it's the only game that's been doing this

Hardware specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K @ 4.5 GHz (Overclocked) same result when @ stock

MB: ASUSâ„¢ P8P67-M

RAM: 2 x G.Skill Sniper 4 GB DDR3-1600 (Dual Channel)

GPU: AMD Sapphire HD 7870 GHz Edition OC 2GB GDDR5

OS: 64-bit Windows 8.1 Enterprise latest version

Arma 3 run through Steam, no mods installed

posted a feedback to arma 3 devs, this is the link http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=21240

If you get no help here you could file a bug report:

http://feedback.arma3.com/main_page.php

Plus also it would help if you posted up your computers specs (WIn7/Vista revision etc) and hardware.

thanks, I updated the main post to include my system specifications

and also posted on the feedback website, I hope i can play soon :bounce3:

Thanks but unfortunately I still have this problem, After doing tons of troubleshooting and stuff I am certain that it is the arma3.exe itself that's causing the problem, I tried deleting it and redownloading from steam but still same results, I also tried countless launch commands and compatibility and admins settings, still the same.

Did you install this?

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Try that.

Also, check if running CPU at stock speeds changes anything.

You say it complains about some DLL (dynamic link library), are you using some special malloc.dll?

Can find them here \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Arma 3\Dll\

I think "tbb3malloc_bi" or "tbb4malloc_bi" is the default.

Try running one of those explicitly, by typing on your arma shortcut-properties

-malloc=tbb3malloc_bi;

Thanks for the response

I already downloaded from that link and still the same problem

I also tried to run everything @ stock speeds and nothing changed

I tried your suggestion on the launch command on the DLL files(all of them), sadly it didn't work either, I even tried deleting the whole Dll folder just to test it and it displayed the same error message. I also tried doing a number of different startup parameter combinations, still didn't fix it :(

btw this is the pic of the actual error, http://i.imgur.com/vbJLxDd.jpg (202 kB)

I can only think of 2 possible things to test.

Either re-install DirectX9 (above link).

Or reinstall graphics card drivers. By completely removing them first, restarting computer, installing drivers again.

Files get corrupted all the time.

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/storage/data-corruption-is-worse-than-you-know/191

"All of these errors will corrupt user data. When they checked 8.7 TB of user data for corruption - 33,700 files - they found 22 corrupted files, or 1 in every 1500 files."

CreateFX seems to be an audio-related thing. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh405044%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

I already did those things mamasan8 to no avail, but thanks for the info on the CreateFX, now I finally know what's this all about, I'll try googling more about it

EDIT: I tried unpacking the Jun2010_XAudio_x64.cab from the directx11 installer and I saw these files

infinst.exe

XAPOFX1_5.dll

JUN2010_XAudio_x64.inf

XAPOFX1_5

XAudio2_7.dll

and some other related things. some of these files are mentioned in that CreateFX link you posted. Although I don't know what to do with them.

Is your soundcard onboard? You could try updating your sound drivers from the mobo manufacturer (sorry if you've done this already). Also I see a DEV has responded to your feedback ticket.
