[WIP] CorePatch: config patch for ArmA 2 OA

Recommended Posts

No longer works integrated into the mission BIS_MENU_GroupCommunication :(

Sorry Dimon but I don' really understand what is the problem.

Can you provide me some more detailed informations and eventually a repro mission?

Thank you very much!

Sorry, but most likely the reason for this mission... Just when I go to the addon, it doesn't work, and when no addon that works.

But I checked in the editor everything works and addon nothing to do with it.

Unfortunately the addon conflicts with ACE mod.

For example:

ACE mod has removed all MTVR because of this hotfix

From CCP by Danil-ch:

"CfgVehicles - threat of MTVR faulty, it should be {0,0,0}."

I've corrected the faulty value with the one suggested.

You're right, Dimon. It was an error in the config.cpp of the MTVR introduced with latest version of CorePatch and not dependent from ACE. Now I've fixed it and tested even with ACE and all works fine (MTVR are still present!)

Thank you for reporting!!

CorePatch doesn't modify in any manner the BIS_MENU_GroupCommunication variable and/or its related functions. I've checked and rechecked many times today but I've found nothing.

I've tested you're mission and it spam the .RPT with this messages (with and without CorePatch):

to test this enough:

run two games simultaneously, with one build server, with the second visit to their server via LAN.

In the end one game server, the second client.

Ok! I've solved the problem with the BIS_MENU_GroupCommunication on MP clients and some more errors!

Thank you Dimon for your support!! :D

I was glad to help.

Now is not the most important thing...

1.By inserting in the mission

example:

\ca\modules\Silvie\data\scripts

you can edit the BIS files under their own or with their changes.

Now it doesn't work for addon interrupts these changes. How to introduce changes to the addon mission?

1. To modify modules files, with CorePatch you have to insert in the mission even the relative CorePatch folder. In your example you've inserted the ca\modules\Silvie\data\scripts and with it you have also to insert the CorePatch\CorePatch_Silvie\data\scripts folder and modify the files you want.

2. Can you give me the mission, please?

Thank you so much!

Goliath -

Reporting a problem that Corepatch has when the Harvest Red campaign is played. I don't know about the other campaigns because I haven't played them using Corepatch yet.

The problem I'm experiencing is basically this:

Existing waypoints of one group copied over to a scenario-related object's group aren't working after the copyWaypoints command is issued.

It looks like the waypoints are not copying (not confirmed).

Examples from missions in the campaign:

- In mission "Harvest Red", after Loptev is captured the truck carrying Razor and the bad guys to Prigorodki doesn't move. The mission can't complete.

- In mission "Razor Two", the CDF helicopter at Elektro hovers and never moves out on patrol. The helipad can't be used without causing a collision.

- In mission "Manhattan", after Lagushina is captured, Sokol never arrives in the heli to pick her up. The task can't complete.

- In mission "Manhattan", the support team never arrives to confiscate the found weapons cache. No mission impact, just an observation. Leaving town, the team is found sitting at their starting marker with the engine off. It looks like they have no waypoints to get them moving.

Observations:

- It only occurs when Corepatch is activated. When not activated, the waypoints will assign and carry out.

- It only occurs if editor-placed objects with waypoints assigned are deleted as part of their initialization, using command deleteVehicle.

- It only occurs when, during the mission flow, a condition gets satisfied and the waypoints from the deleted object are copied to a scenario object, using command copyWaypoints.

- No error message is given when the waypoints fail.

Pulling the individual missions to editor, one can see how the waypoint system for certain scenario objects was set up:

In editor, a civilian unit is placed and given waypoints. In the unit's init field is something like this: "BIS_planScoutHeli = group this; deleteVehicle this".

When initialization occurs, the civilian unit's Group obtains the waypoints and then the unit is deleted. The Group, having the waypoints, remains under the Center. The waypoints will later be used by a scenario object when a condition is satisfied; but when game starts there is no civilian unit running the waypoints, the unit was deleted.

During mission flow, a condition is met. For example, Razor approaches Elektro and the CDF helicopter is supposed to be seen departing on patrol. Once condition is met the group for the related scenario object (in this case the CDF helicopter) copies the waypoints from a deleted unit's Group, using code like this: "BIS_grpCDFMi17 copyWaypoints BIS_planScoutHeli;"

Without Corepatch the copied waypoints work; but with Corepatch they don't.

Not all of the scenario objects use this system, only certain ones that need waypoints later in the mission. For example, in "Manhattan" the unit Valentina is placed and given waypoints in editor. Using Corepatch, she will be found traveling her waypoints at mission start, same as if Corepatch isn't used.

But some objects are placed out of sight and out of mind until needed, like the support team. When condition is met they get moved to a marker, then copy waypoints from a deleted unit's group. But using Corepatch, the waypoints don't work.

In the instance of the CDF heli, it starts in place and remains in place. when condition is met it copies waypoints from a deleted unit's group and flies away. But using Corepatch, the waypoints don't work.

Maybe the cause has to do with the order of initialization for objects, addons and scripts? But I'm at a loss how that could be tested to verify. I haven't seen anything about Corepatch that would relate as a cause, where copying waypoints of a deleted unit's group should fail. That's why I suspect the order of initialization might be having some sort of impact. It's just a guess, I might be wrong.

Also, I don't think this is related to your Bitter Chill efforts, as I'm pretty sure this was already happening before you started that. Haven't posted until now because it took a while to get the observations collected.

And again, thank you so much for your work, thank you for doing Corepatch. It has become "addon number one" in my editing efforts and gameplay.

@OpsuFmSPol: I think that I've corrected the problem right now. I will do some more testing then I will publish the next version of CorePatch!

Thank you!!

@OpsuFmSPol: it was a problem with the Garbage Collector Module with auto-initialization enabled (introduced with CorePatch) that also was collecting empty group to delete them. Now I've introduced a Garbage Collector Module's variable that enable/disable the collection of empty groups for deleting them. For default now it is disabled to maintain compatibility with ArmA 2 Campaign and Missions.

Thank you OpusFmSPol!!

A newer version (1.0.0.23) of CorePatch is available on first post.

- Added CCP feature Nr. 63107 (thanks to defunkt for permission to use his Anzins mod):

With permission of Defunkt, the author of the Anzins Mod, I've introduced in CorePatch all the fixed model of some of the A2 weapons that add functional IR Laser to weapons that have it and add TI shader to all of them.

Also it introduce a CQB sight to the AKS 74 with PSO.

All credits to Defunkt

- Fixed BIS_MENU_GroupCommunication error on MP environment (thanks to Dimon):

Fixed an error on MP Framework initialization that prevent the BIS_MENU_GroupCommunication to correctly works in MP.

Thanks to Dimon for reporting the issue

- Fixed BIS Garbage Collector Module error introduced with CorePatch (thanks to OpsuFmSPol):

Fixed a behaviour of the Garbage Collector Module, introduced with CorePatch, that was deleting empty groups. Now, as default, it doesn't delete empty groups, to maintain compatibility with A2 Campaign and Missions. To re-activate this ability, in editor it must be written, in the init field of the Garbage Collector Module this line:

this setVariable ["groupDelCP", true, true];

- Fixed some errors of MP Framework initialization with CorePatch:

Fixed some initialization errors of the MP Framework. Now, even the Bitter Chill Mission of the A2 Campaign should play better ;)

This is the last update of the CorePatch before the Final A2 OA patch.

If someone encounter any bugs of this version of CorePatch, please report them in this forum ASAP so I can correct them.

Thank you all guys for supporting this little project! :D

Regards,

Don't worry about this error. It just means you don't have the Army of the Czech Republic DLC. It won't cause a crash.

Hi LUMINAK!

Like DreadPirate said, you need to install the ACR MP Compatibility Patch (ACR Lite) in order to avoid that message with CorePatch. But is not a serious problem at all.

For the CTD try to start ArmA 2 OA without any addons and using the steam shortcut to verify if it is a problem with mods or with the A2 OA installation.
