Tell us about your political attitude

Recommended Posts

I think it would very interesting to know a little bit about the political situation in your country. As you know there has been the election in Sweden yesterday (and as I see it the wrong party won) and in Germany we have an election at the end of this week.

In Germany we got

CDU/CSU    conservative right wing,

SPD           left wing, socialistic, restrictive, unionistic

Green party: (well I guess you know their ideologies)

FDP           liberal party! The prostitute cause it takes any

coalition it gets

PDS           ugly former communists from former East-Germany

Our country is basically ruined right now. stock market is insecure, 10% unemployment rate, small percentage of startups, worst investment growth rate in entire europe.

The left wing party SPD in power sais: Dont blame us, we couldnt change much in 4 years.

The right wing opposition sais: YOu fucked up our economy, you destroy entrepreneurship, you destroy our reputation

And the rest of the opposition states that....well what they always say.

(but in case you wonder why Germany behaves so arrogantly in the UN, you know why, we have a left wing- green party in power).

Whether I will take a job in switzerland/Asia or Germany realy depends on the election. If left wing wins again then I move out.

I am a Conservative, I will be very glad when Blair is replaced. I hate his closed, media manipulating stlye of government. He has damaged the credability of Parliment severely.

I will be glad when we have a conservative government willing to be tough over public services and tax.

Well atleast you guys don't have the walking embarassment that's name Jean Chretien as your leader smile.gif We have the most arogent Liberal party running our country here in Canada right now. They can misplace a billion dollars and the people supporting them don't care. It makes no sense. Part of the problem is that the media is Liberal as well so everything nationaly is shown in a good light while it seems the opposition is from the west here and we are always portrayed as rednecks and hicks ( I live in Calgary which is basically Texas north, so it's not too far off smile.gif )

Now the guy is saying that the USA has some of the blame in the attacks on an international stage. He doesn't represent me at all.

I am Swedish and I voted for the block that lost. Major set back in Sweden, real FUBAR election anyway. Record low participation, hasnt been so low since just after WWII. 78% voted, I think. Most of the campaigning was about digging up dirt on the opposition and coming up with silly slogans the sheep would go for.

Well, another 4 years of socialist rule. Can't get much worse though, I fail to see how they could run this country down any further than they allready have.

We just had elections in Sweden yesterday. The (left) red coallition won (unfortunately).

The parties we have is:

Blue (right) block:

Moderaterna (m), conservative (European type conservative, not American)

Folkpartiet Liberalerna (fp), liberal

Kristdemokraterna (kd), christian/conservative

Centern ©, farmer's party

Red (left) block:

Socialdemokraterna (s), socialist

Vänsterpartiet (v), former communist party

Miljöpartiet (mp), environmentalist party

I voted for Folkpartiet (liberals) as usual. The result of the elections? Unfortunately the red coallition will stay in power:

00-600x250.gif

It was a record low turnout at the polls this time, only 79% sad.gif

I wasn't talking about sleeze, as long as there are politicians there will be corruption. No, I was talking about his paranoid media driven governing style.

Lol. A moderat, obviously smile.gif

They tend to be quite pissed off and bitter right now, although they have their own incompetent party leadership to blame.

Things are not so bad as Longinius is portraying it. A socialist government brings stability to the markets right now. I have no special love for them, but I don't see this as a special disaster. The economy is doing pretty ok, under the circumstances and people have in general faith in the prime minister (almost a cult of personality). A change of government would mean turbulence on the markets.

Yes, in Sweden it is considered to be right wing. I am sure however that our most right wing party, moderaterna would be considered communist in the United States. It is all in the eye of the beholder smile.gif

"Things are not so bad as Longinius is portraying it. A socialist government brings stability to the markets right now."

Of course its not. I am naturally taking it a bit further since I am on the losing side, voting for M and Fp. But, I do really believe many crappy things in Sweden today are a direct result of poor socialist rule.

Yeah, you are right there. If M had won, we wouldnt see much change for four years anyway. So the only good thing is that it will not make a 180 and get all screwy. It will just be semiscrewy ; )

I guess could be reduced to the concept 'left wing', but I cold'nt care less about those concepts. The problems I see in society have never (or very rarely) been on any political agenda. Sometimes it seems like left or right would be something fundamental in the entire universe biggrin.gif Its just one of thousands illusions to keeps us nice and content for **** sake....

Yesterday I actually went to null-vote (or what ever its called) in the Swedish elections. The only reason I went voting at all was that I wanted to make the election participation look better in the immigrant area where I live (some people throw dirt on them because of their low political interest). But I went to the wrong 'voting station' (It was the right one before), and therefore did not paricipate either.

I am not sure which makes my point the clearest, null-voting or not voting at all; but I could'nt really care much less about it.

My view is that the current form of representative democracy is long ago (well long as in a few decades anyway) obsolete, and we have to develop past that stage. By voting I only show my support for the system.

The ultimate goal I can think of now is 'direct democracy', where everyone can vote on everything directly from the computer; but that will demand a entirely different human being than what is around today - maybe in 100 or 200 years its possible. In the meantime we have to look much closer at what 'representative democracy' really can be like.

Look at the mid east thread somewhere around page 80-100 ,I think it was, for a discussion about it smile.gif

Btw. I null voted here to smile.gif

In Canada, the conservative side is split up between the 'Progressive Conservative party' and the 'Canadian Alliance'. This is just one of the reasons that the 'Liberal Party' has been in power since 1993, with the same Prime Minister for almost 10 years. Ontario and Quebec tend to vote Liberal, the Eastern and Western provinces tend to vote conservative but since Quebec and Ontario have more people, the Liberals win every time.

The Liberals own Ottawa, and Canada is run by Frenchmen. mad.gif Well, our taxes are the highest in North America, and our military is the 3rd lowest funded in all of NATO, our dollar is next to worthless, and studies say our standard of living has become lower than that of the U.S. Things are just peachy here in Canada. wink.gif

Alberta is the ancestral home of Canadian rednecks and hicks!  BC is far more liberal and forward thinking!

LOL.

Our own version of the 'Liberal' party is a total embarassment.  They have the worst deficeit in years, yet are making spending cuts all over.  And no one can seem to figure out where they are spending the money.

The thing is this:

In Canada, all of the politicians are greedy two faced bastards talking out of their backsides.  Nothing seems to change. Sometimes it makes me think that what we need is a good civil war to sort it all out.

Really..sometimes its THAT bad.

edit:  Chretien was bang on with those comments.  The western world has screwed around in the mid east for years with no thought to what we are doing... and the heavy handed clash of ideolofies has finally come home to roost.  Cultural sensitivity does not always equal political correctness.  Its time the first world started looking at how we treat/use/misuese other nations.
