Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/Daesh) Discussion

Recommended Posts

wouldn't be the first time radical Islamist's have attacked Australian interests or people.

2 Bali bombings

Embassy in Jakarta

Just it was never in Australia. Lucky the police caught those guys up in Sydney.

Wonder how many more are in Australia

I do have the feeling we will be entering into a ground conflict sometime in the near future.

So... it looks like he wont be able to get back into Canada now, thats one less dumbass in Canada, :D anyone else?

ISIS is recruiting, they need more low IQ dumbasses who can pull a trigger and cant think rationally and can yell Allah akbar without any problems.

When he said we have thousands in the USA I was thinking, bring it, unlike the woosies who run in your country everyone is packing here.

Dam where are the fighters to drop a bomb on all those on the banner, dont the UN have spy's over there so they can hit ISIS when their the most grouped up or assembled?

Banner was an example, question stems from these ISIS jerries assembling in an area for whatever,so I would assume there are

spy planes, drones, individual spies there that can report on positions.

Aside that from what I read ISIS is basically a US funded terrorist group, idk what to believe after reading that, but are we as in

UN or the good guys if theres any left actually killing these guys?

They have announced that they will conquer the Balkan in five years..... yeah right....

Can you give me a link to an article ? I find that very interesting!

(...) Our Armed Forces would smash them with the ground, even with stored T-55 tanks :D , and let's not talk about joint NATO operations with multiple nations involded. Their best is believeing that some kind of almighty creature will allow them to do so (not a religious insult, just a fact). Anyway, these are funny guys full of themselves.

Recently I was thinking about that the whole IS-Islamic State situation could be exploited, seems like my thoughts were not so wrong.......can this happen and against the UN voting ?

U.S. Considers a No-Fly Zone to Protect Civilians From Airstrikes by Syria

Mr. Hagel and General Dempsey indicated they are open to considering the request of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey for a buffer zone along the Turkish-Syrian border, where tens of thousands of Syrians have sought refuge.

Creating a buffer, or no-fly zone, would require warplanes to disable the Syrian government’s air defense system through airstrikes.

Both Mr. Hagel and General Dempsey acknowledged that even with airstrikes in Syria, degrading and defeating the Islamic State — President Obama’s stated goal — could not happen without troops on the ground.

Qatar says fight against Islamic State will fail if Assad stays

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has warned that the U.S.-led fight against Islamic State militancy will not succeed as long as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad remains in power.

....I believe that the main cause of all this is the regime in Syria, and this regime should be punished,†Sheikh Tamim said in an interview with CNN.

slamic State fighters have exploited the chaos of Syria's three-year-old civil war, which pits Assad and his allies against mainly Sunni Muslim* rebels and Islamist militants, to carve out territory in the country's eastern provinces.

Other U.S. allies Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have joined in the strikes. All are ruled by Sunni Muslims and are opponents of Assad, a member of a Shi'ite-derived sect, and his main regional ally, Shi'ite Iran.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/09/26/mideast-crisis-qatar-idUSL6N0RR21O20140926

*Turkey, Saudi-Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates,whatever...all these are Sunni Muslim States with a common goal to expand their powers against the Shia Axis, especially Iran and their allies. This fits with the geostrategy of the US and interests against the Iran. Its also interesting to know that most of the worldwide islamistic terror is done by Sunni Muslimes and Wahabis. And no, the US/West is not so much in danger like the media propagates, since probably more than 90% of the civilian victims of the terror are normal muslime itself. That does not mean of course there isnt a terror threat. The last one is the most extreme form of Islam comming from Saudi Arabia.

Piece of news from the beginning of this year, but still worth reading.

( The National from UAE ) Assad regime set free extremists from prison to fire up trouble during peaceful uprising

"The regime did not just open the door to the prisons and let these extremists out, it facilitated them in their work, in their creation of armed brigades," said the former member of Syria's Military Intelligence Directorate, one of more than a dozen of Syria's secretive intelligence agencies.

The former officer said most of the releases happened over a period of four months up until October 2011 and that the project was overseen by the General Security Directorate, another of Syria's widely feared security organisations and one of the most important.

Under pressure from opposition groups and the international community, the regime set free hundreds of detainees from jail in the first few months of the uprising as part of an amnesty.

But many political prisoners and protesters backing the peaceful uprising were kept in prison, while others, including known Islamist radicals and violent offenders, were quietly released.

To clarify:

Assad is a dictator. But he is not a horrible dictator.

If you live your life peacefully he will never bother you.

If you do not threaten his power he will never hurt you.

He is a shia muslim. The uprising is being carried out by Sunni muslims.

If the sunnis win, they will turn into dictators so the Syrian people cannot win either way.

This whole thing is a sunni v shia thing. It has nothing to do with winning freedom for Syria.

All the sunni countries want Assad gone due to the sunni - shia thing.

We in the west, hope that the sunni and shia fight and fight and fight. We should always provide a tiny bit of assistance to the side that is losing - and let them continue the fight.

The best possible result for the west, is that Iran goes to war against Saudi and the other sunni countries. :popcornsmilie:

I don't agree in most of what you said. It's more about cultures and groups of power than about religion.

BTW this is the thread about IS, which is a group that was born in Iraq. So I don't think their goal was to fight Al Assad 6 years! before IS took any action in Syria.

And if by West you also include the US, why would they want one of their main allies in the area get involved in a war with Iran?

Anyway right now what has more probabilities is that Turkey gets involved:

( Al Jazeera ) ISIL closes in on border town with Turkey

ISIL fighters close in on the key Kurdish town of Kobane, as Turkey considers sending troops to both Iraq and Syria.

Maybe Turkey will take advantage of the situation to feed their expansionist aspirations.

The Thing with Turkeyis that they actually have a small enclave nside Syria. There are 30 something Turkish soldiers guarding the tomb of a Sultan. Turkey already announced that they will treat every attack on that site as an attack on Turkish soil. They are also bringing in more and moretanks and troops to the border. Turkey could get seriously involved in this mess.

It would have come in useful for them some months ago but it seems it is a different situation now.

Wasnt the "Tomb of a Sultan" which is a turkish enclave inside Syria not a part of the released secret video between turkish authorities planning or discussing about a possibility to draw the Turkey/Nato into a war with Syria. It was about a false flag strategy.

Well technically any attack against Turkish soil it must be considered an attack to all NATO members soil.

Anyway Turkey has always been quite warmonger and anxious of expansion ( remember Cyprus or lately in Iraq when they occupied part of the Kurdistan a few years ago, 2008 ).

Well, that would have been fit for a NATO/US intervention against the Assad Regime in Syria. It was not only in the interest of the Turkey, but the Turkey did play a major role in supporting the Syrian rebels, open the boarders for Islamists.

Here is the video about the discussion for a a "false flag" attack on Syria to draw in NATO aswell and the turkish enclave in Syria did play a role (Tomb).(translation into english). They are also talking about the ISIS Islamic State, how allgedly easily they are manipulateable and about the PKK in Iraq.

news article (german): Audio record suggests turkish attack plans on Syria - "A pretence can be designed"....

British special forces in Iraq 'ordered to carry chemical suits as ISIS are feared to be planning gas attacks'

Britain's elite troops operating in Iraq are carrying gas protection suits because Islamic State fighters are feared to have taken control of Syrian chemical weapons.

But despite international efforts to destroy President Assad's chemical weapon stockpile, it is thought that some may have fallen into the hands of ISIS after the militants seized vast swathes of Iraq and Syria - and they could be used on troops in retaliation for the UK joining the U.S.-led air campaign.

Edrogan don't seem to agree with that... but tomorrow we'll see better:

( Al Jazeera ) Erdogan vows to take on ISIL fighters

Turkey's president has promised to fight ISIL and "other terrorist organisations", in his clearest remarks yet that Turkish forces could join a US-led coaltion battling the group in Iraq and Syria.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan's speech on Wednesday comes a day before parliament votes on motions that may grant the government authority to do send forces into both neighbouring countries.

"We will fight effectively against both [iSIL] and all other terrorist organisations within the region," said Erdogan as he opened parliament's autumn session. "This will always be our priority."

Yes, Erdogan may want to rebuild Turkish influence over the former parts of the Ottoman empire, which parts are collapsing under various foreign influence, after the destabilization of the region by the 2003 US intervention in Irak.
