Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/Daesh) Discussion

Recommended Posts

I figured a thread specific to the Islamic State would be appropriate rather than have discussion spread across multiple threads.

What are your thoughts on the Islamic State?

Today, they made a statement regarding the "nonbelievers".

"O America, O allies of America, and O crusaders, know that the matter is more dangerous than you have imagined and greater than you have envisioned. We have warned you that today we are in a new era.

If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, kill him in any manner or way however it may be.

Rig the roads with explosives for them. Attack their bases. Raid their homes. Cut off their heads. Do not let them feel secure.
"

Yeah this was a good idea to open a general thread about the Islamic State (IS) since it is an international movement.

You wont believe this....terrorist.gifIS goes CHINA. ????!!

Chinese militants get Islamic State 'terrorist training'

Chinese militants from the western region of Xinjiang have fled from the country to get "terrorist training" from Islamic State fighters for attacks at home, state media reported on Monday. Militants from Xinjiang had recently been involved in IS activities in Syria and Iraq as well as with IS "branches" in Southeast Asia.

The report was the first time state-run media had linked militants from Xinjiang, home to ethnic minority Uighur Muslims, to militants of the Islamic State (IS), a radical Sunni Muslim group which has seized large parts of Syria and Iraq.

China's government has blamed a surge of violence over the past year on Islamist militants from Xinjiang who China says are fighting for an independent state called East Turkestan.

They not only want to get training in terrorist techniques, but also to expand their connections in international terrorist organizations through actual combat to gain support for escalation of terrorist activities in China," the Global Times cited an unidentified Chinese "anti-terrorism worker" as saying.

The newspaper said in the report on its website that four suspected militants from Xinjiang were arrested in Indonesia this month.

Indonesia has raised concern about a possible spillover of IS support after revelations that Indonesian citizens had traveled to Syria and Iraq to join fighters there.

"Their ultimate goal is still to fight back into China," Pan Zhiping, a former head of Central Asia studies at Xinjiang's Academy of Social Science, told the Global Times.

The report is likely to lend urgency to a nationwide "anti-terrorism" operation that President Xi Jinping's administration has launched following attacks that Beijing has blamed on Islamists and separatists from Xinjiang.

Many Uighurs in Xinjiang resent what they call Chinese government restrictions on their culture, language and religion.

I believe ( hope ) that a group like this, which is against the interests of practically all the main nations of the World ( US, Russia, EU, China, etc. ) will disappear in a couple years.

Although they have had an impressive progression, from being an anti-US/Coalition insurgency group in Iraq in 2006, to be a "country/army" spread in more than two countries in 2014.

Like Al-qaida?after more then a decade of fighting them, they still are around doing the same they did before, and still do it today. shows that bombing and even invading places they resign in wont work, same go's with Isis, they already gone a bit underground to protect their weapons and assets from airraids(mostly in Iraq),and they still capturing terrain in Syria, so they bit like rats or roaches, when you turn the lights on,or go after them, they go running and into hiding until its safe again to show their ugly heads again.
Although they have had an impressive progression
Well you can say they had some help in that matter ;)

But they still are a bunch of crazy radicals, and they get a lot off support and loads of ppl that will flock to their cause! and that support inspires other groups to join them or take the same path, http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/22/algerian-islamists-threaten-to-execute-french-hostage-unless-france-halts-isis-attacks(sry for using that crappy newsite, cant use RT here:p) but it shows that more and more groups around the world are joining them and following their believes!

The insanity of this whole ISIS situation is like a bad dream, one cannot really fathom, believe that such things, atrocities, massacres are actually happening,

and this is probably because I like many others live in a "sheltered" protected society, city, land all our lives without any exposure to anything violent as people shooting

to kill especially an army roaming through lands and killing just about everyone they come across that dont believe in their agenda, or beliefs.

Its one thing to believe in something but then to force people to believe something and then threaten or kill them if they dont is just simply wrong.

To grow a virus it needs the right environment for it to flourish, the environment was created for this group to flourish and because of their "riches" and support,

and ideas they are attracting more of themselves from other countries.

Only way to eliminate such a group is to cut them off from their sources, eliminate their leaders, destroy their supplies, and any equip that is seriously helping them like tanks, artillery,

then stop giving them the attention they want (feeding their morale) cut them out from twitter (why their even allowed on there is beyond me) facebook any social media, any news ect,.

Forget what they say, you cannot make peace with a virus you have to stop feeding it, like Candida stop giving it sugar, and it eventually dies.

Dissolve them from the inside out, become the enemy and sabotage them, set them up.

To me I would do like we did in WW2 I would invade I would outnumber them, I would have so many planes and choppers in their, and then infest the area with troops,

and just horde the area, small groups against similar size dont work unless tactics and strategy, and or equipment is better, even if the equipment is better it doesn't

guarantee success, ISIS have proven that they can beat just about anyone with what they have, as they stick and move, thats the real problem, they are like

a parasite that hide and suck off the system, when your moving their watching, when your still thats when they get you, and where you least expect them.

Give them access and they will let themselves in, cut off all exits, and shoot anyone suspected of being part of them, you cannot barter with these people,

they have a kill or be killed mindset, they even praise those of their own that die so they look for it, so i think the key is to scare them, destroy their morale.

These guys think outside the box because they are not playing or fighting a general army game, they are doing anything possible to destroy and take whatever

stands in their way, and they use speed and broken paths to accomplish their objectives, essentially a blitzkrieg.

How did WW2 end? to many fronts for Hitler to fight against.

IS is not Al Qaeda. IS is building a country structure so it can be fought more accordingly as a country.

But obviously the point would be that all the world gather together to fight them in different fronts ( closing all their bank accounts, removing all their contacts, sponsors, etc. ).

Sending only US/NATO troops would be a mistake, because then IS would gather even more anti-NATO/Europe/US followers; but if all the World acts as one then they would lose all attractive.

In fact what has made them grow up so much, is first the US intervention in Iraq and later the Russian support to the Syrian dictator Al Assad.

( BBC ) Islamic State message shows desire for US boots on the ground

The chief spokesman for the self-named "Islamic State" (IS), also known as Isis, has given the clearest indication yet that his fighters would actually welcome a ground war in Iraq and Syria against US troops.

In a 42-minute audio message uploaded to the internet the group's Syrian-born spokesman, who has taken the adopted name of Shaykh Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, mocks recent US air strikes and the moves to build an international coalition against Islamic State.

Addressing President Obama, the spokesman says: "Is this all you are capable of doing in this campaign of yours? Are America and all its allies... unable to come down to the ground?"

(BBC) Jeremy Bowen: Who will fight Islamic State?

The biggest is among the most crucial: If American troops are not going to take the fight to IS on the ground, who will?

The problem is less acute in Iraq. The Kurdish peshmerga are keen to fight, and should be effective as long as they get the training and heavy weapons they need.

(...)

But muddled thinking and analysis flaw the US approach to Syria.

(...)

For more than three years, Western governments have attempted to create a moderate Syrian opposition that it can support with words and perhaps even with weapons. Very little has been achieved that has had an effect within Syria itself.

A Pentagon statement said the 14 strikes against Isis targets were carried out with Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Jordan confirmed it its airforce had “destroyed a number of targets that belong to some terrorist groups that sought to commit terror acts inside Jordan†without making explicit reference to Syria.

IS was born in Iraq in 2006 to fight the US and the Coalition, so you can't say that they were welcomed. Who was welcomed in Syria was the FSA groups.

About the Taliban and Al Qaeda and other radical groups grew due to the Cold War powers ( both USSR and NATO invested a lot of money in make them strong ).

It's interesting how Saudi Arabia practice beheading as a punishment, Is it common knowledge that Saudi Arabia along with a few other states openly supported these guys and got them up and running so to speak, no one anywhere likes these 'terroists and there's already a 'boots on the ground' fighting them, curious at what the intention is.

Arming more 'rebels' sounds like a schoolboy plan that continues to fail, but hey.. Let's do it again.

That's why I don't see them having much success in China. These groups rely on political correctness and softheartedness to operate amongst their enemies without being hindered all that much. In China things like human rights, reasonable doubt and due process really don't mean a thing when the Party's authority is challenged in any way. In western society you keep expecting people to finally see things for what they really are and take off the gloves while in China there are no gloves to begin with. They've riden down their own etnic group with tanks, some violent semi-foreigners from the western provinces are merely a number to the Party. But as always China won't do anything about IS unless it operates on it's own territory. Let others pay the bills and have your own economy blossom has been their approach since Korea.

Philippine police investigate Islamist militants' threat to kill German hostage

Philippine police are investigating apparent Islamist threats to kill one of two German hostages. The group has demanded a ransom of over $5 million (over 3.9 million euro) and an end to German anti-IS Support.

The photos showed Stefan Okonek, 71, and Henrike Diesen, 55, who were taken hostage in April, surrounded by hooded armed militants, including one holding a machete.

The images, which have circulated on Twitter, were reportedly accompanied by a threat from Abu Sayyaf rebels to kill one of the two captives, unless a ransom of over $5.6 million (4.36 million euro) was paid and Germany ceases to support US attacks against the "Islamic State" (IS) in Iraq and Syria.

Al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf rose to prominence in the early 2000s by taking foreigners hostage with a focus on kidnap-for-ransom and other criminal activities, including beheadings and bombings. The group is also currently holding Dutch, Swiss, Japanese and Filipino hostages in the south of the predominantly Roman Catholic state.

French hostage Herve Gourdel 'beheaded in Algeria'

Jund al-Khilafa, an ally of the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria and Iraq, had set a 24-hour deadline for France to halt air strikes on IS in Iraq.

Jund al-Khilafa (Soldiers of the Caliphate) pledged allegiance to IS on 14 September.

Until then it had been known as part of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), which grew out of an Algerian militant group and is now active across North and parts of West Africa.

interesting how Saudi Arabia practice beheading as a punishment

How is beheading even a punishment? You are being punished for xxxx and for that you will beheaded, uh ok so basically its not teaching the guy to not do

whatever they are doing and or did, rather just kill them and he basically becomes and example for the other people whom Im

guessing that this whole punishment thing is an open audience display, i suppose examples are good but it dont teach any person that did the crime anything, idk whatever works I guess.

How about cut off their hand, naa smash the hand that way he lives with it, a shattered hand will almost never heal if not set correctly and pain is everlasting, a hand lost will have its pain

but the stump will heal life moves on.

Instead of a beheading, or prison, beat the shit out of them, torture them for a set amount of time, then send them off to some labor camp for a week or so

much time, and have them at the labor camp put the guy through living hell, making him lift, or do, or work things making him wish he never committed

a crime or what have you. Can anyone say Navy Seal Hell week.

Of course here in the USA prison is a business and inmates are basically just becoming worse with time.

About these ISIS guys, beheading?! thats the best they can do, lol, if i were a terrorist....

So finally US and Russia agreed on something ( also China and all other UNSC members ).

( Al Jazeera ) UN approves resolution on foreign fighters

Members of the UN Security Council have unanimously approved a binding resolution on checking the flow of foreign fighters to Iraq and Syria.

The US-drafted resolution adopted on Wednesday requires all countries to adopt laws that would make it a serious crime for their nationals to join self-declared jihadist groups such as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Al-Nusra Front.

The resolution is under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, which makes it legally binding for the 193 UN member states and gives the Security Council authority to enforce decisions with economic sanctions or force.

It generally targets fighters travelling to conflicts anywhere in the world. It does not mandate military force to tackle the foreign fighter issue.

(VICE NEWS) Muslim Scholars Make the Theological Case Against the Islamic State

More than a hundred Muslim scholars and leaders from around the world released an open letter addressed to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Wednesday, telling the self-proclaimed caliph, in no uncertain terms, that the group's use of Islamic scripture is illegitimate and perverse.

I read that article, interesting, what will be more interesting is to read what ISIS says in response to them and why they do what they do, basically whats their version.

At this point these guys could just make up their own religion or what have you and establish a Caliph based on their own made up laws, ath is point its basically what it

seems they are doing, as the laws of Islam as stated in the article they are obviously not following.
