Hmm downloading from Yandex.

Hopefully it works, kinda ironic im downloading Ukraine map from Russian website and they are in a war.

Sorry I dont know if I was blind I didnt even see mirror, hopefully someone can get this on PWS. Ill PM sonsalt6 and foxhound to get on pws and holic

The map looks awesome! I only found two issues, one lack of mid-textures and the other that is really heavy for my PC to handle; I can play, but the FPS suffer a 15-20 drop ( if I want to keep the quality ).

EDIT: After overclocking a bit my PC I can play it pretty well in high settings. I think you should tweak it a bit, reducing the amount of objects, but not too much; as now it really feels "organic"/real, I love sneaking through the foliage.

So wow - it looks really good - just like the combat footage we've seen coming through....

Is it right to keep up so much detail ? I don't know; with just 1 player down on the map in editor I was getting average frames of 50 to 60 around town. I run a 4ghz I7 920 with 2 GTX570's in SLI, so old system but I can run Altis locked at 60fps with most things turned right up... (or very High anyway as I run at 120% super-sample so my VRAM holds me back from Ultra.)

I noticed that when I turned to face the centre of town, FPS dropped to around 45... If I scoped in, (2D Acog Sight from Trixies Weapons Pack) I dropped immediately to around 11fps... stabilising at about 18 to 20.

I would say that even for PVP/TVT this is pushing it !! Will be hard to get smooth PVP play through scopes.

I'd be interested to see what effect culling 25% of the clutter would have and perhaps cutting down tree variety - don't want to, it looks beautiful, but otherwise this will be one of those maps we'll all be waiting for Intel Broadwell's to play properly with.

One interesting comment... You maxed my Graphics cards... Both at 99% for most of the tour. NEVER seen that in Arma 3 - nice one. Others with big rigs GTX780's etc will see better frames than me for sure, but my experience with Arma players is we tend to run kit substantailly behind the curve on average.

Got some screenies..... Only had russians to put down. Sorry don't have any Ukrainian troop skins yet.

I've gotta say, from the video, this island looks great. And I am very picky about islands. I can't stand when buildings are all blocked in together perfectly, or use dirt for the ground textures in cities instead of taking the time to create proper streets. And walls. People love to put walls around everything. A nice house all by itself on a nice grassy hill and it's got cement walls 10 meters around it and no road to get there. Your placement looks really good, your terrain and textures look really good. I could imagine myself sitting in that car in the video. It looks real. I can't wait for the HUGE download. Good job.

On the opposite side of that, there was something that I would criticize. And it's common in a lot of maps. Put (my humble suggestion) paths and worn out/dirt areas where people use a lot. In the pictures there is only grass from fence to the house door. The car parks under the tree but there is still grass there. Even in rainy seasons the paths that people use would still be there. I would just go around the map and put some dirt textures where cars might park, dirt paths from fence to door and even from door to a bench or to the car etc. That is the most common thing I see in islands. Probably 90% of them. Bi usually does a good job doing that with their maps. Most user maps are nothing but main roads and buidlings with walls. You have a great looking island. The paths I mention would have your map rival bi maps.

Well I think you should expect some as its a great start. Good looking map, did a small video nothing special just so people can get an idea and a fitting thousandth post ;).

I understand that Arma is a game, and it has to have AI, but i find it useless for kind of gameplay i like. And of cource it is a performance hit.[/url]

This is a bad idea. It cuts your player base in half, maybe even into a quarter.

Look how other mods have fixed this issue. Ask them for help.

Yeah it can be fixed, if you ask All in arma terrain pack team they probably fixed that stuff I bet they are willing to give you their stuff to use.

Also as victim mentioned some dryer non grass patches in areas that are logical would make sense, would also help to optimize stuff, its not like your just gonna try to hide on a 5 inch grass patch anyway, so no gameplay effects.

This is the best terrain, when it makes you think that you might have been there that really tells you something. It also feels like an area where people actually live, you don't really get that feeling often on terrains made for ArmA.

you dont even have to do this. i dont know how he included the plants, but on my test island they work perfectly, even without the dirt thing, they drop leafes when shot and ai cant see through it.

i do also think its a bad idea to not optimize maps for AI. its not like you have to create an ugly map then.
