ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Things are fun since we all have the holidays off...

With antennas that long you should simulate walking into power lines. No idea if it is even possible but it would be briefly amusing to watch people do it.

For some reason, I have no ACRE radio's in-game :(

I use PWS and it's up-to-date. Are there any mods that might conflict with ACRE?

Myself and my group have been using ACRE2 since release and some of us have had a very annoying issue with it since then. After a few minutes of use in-game broadcasting causes Arma 3 to freeze and then crash. I've messed with it for a few weeks trying to pinpoint some other symptoms and fixes and found out that if I quickly alt-tab out of Arma and restart TS I will not crash. I've also noticed that it only happens if I'm using multiple radios. In a mission where I was constantly switching between a 343 and 148 I had this happen five times within maybe 10 minutes, while in a mission where I just had a 343 I did not freeze/crash at all.

After a full reinstall of ArmA and all the mods I can now confirm I am in the same boat as everyone else where the Direct Voice volume and ACRE radio volume are equally soft. The some exception being the ACRE radio beep, which adjusts with system volume but nothing else.

Normalization with ArmA's volume excluding the beep is to set everything at 10% volume ingame.

One member of my group had an odd bug, his radio was repeatedly making the broadcast beep with an interval of..well...I'm guessing about 0.5 seconds, the beeping would stop as long as he held capslock (to manually broadcast), but once released it happened again.

Restarting TS3 didn't work..Restarting the game did..The issue has popped up now and then like a Lochness monster and then dissapeared again...

I know it's not a lot of information, but I just wanted to report it, that's all.

Also, during that same session, I started having troubles. People reported that they were not able to hear me over the radio, I restarted my TeamSpeak 3...I came back and the game kept hinting this message: "No ping return, attempting to reattach named pipe."

ArmA3 rpt file when that happened - Since I could not restart the game on that moment, I ended up disabling ACRE plugin for 10 mins, and then just leave the session. It kind of ruined it :/

Hope this is a bit more detailed than the previous report.

Looks like you didn't have the pipe actually open. Either your plugin was disabled, or you had anti-virus blocking the named pipe. AVG and Kaserskye are famous for this.

Hi,

I've installed acre onto my new rented server and I'm having slight problems. The mod is running because we all have radios in our inventory but nothing happens when we try to transmit, even though it says acre connected at the top of the screen.

I've installed both cba and acre onto the server. Keys are where they should be. Can anyone lend any advice.

userconfigs ?

No userconfigs in our ACRE 2 folder ( which is downloaded using playwithsix ). I do know that acre 1 used userconfig. Is it the same for ACRE 2?

EDIT: I found the issue. The installation includes acre2arma.dll file which I cannot install. I will have to ask my provider to do it. Thank you anyway.

If I 'd like to test it (when will be released), where should download it?

In the first post there is a link to the public release. Is it the right link to follow?

Thanks in advance

ACRE2 Stable RC1 v2.1.0.651

Hey everyone! We are very close to a stable release of ACRE2, and as such we are now releasing a release candidate with a lot of new features and fixes for the community to test.

Below is a list of changes/fixes in this release.

To see a full list of changes, as well as additional information please check out the wiki page for this release: http://gitlab.idi-systems.com/idi-systems/acre2-public/wikis/ACRE_21_Release

Changes

Major Changes

  • Volume controls in Settings->Plugins->ACRE->Settings to provide tweaking your volume accordingly. These settings save in the TeamSpeak 3\acre2.ini file and can be changed in real-time for testing. This will resolve anyone with the lingering volume issue.
  • Distortions and sounds have received an overhaul. You no longer hear incoming squawks, instead you hear clicks and static (per real radios)
  • Muting at the end of a mission fixed. All clients are now unmuted locally
  • Bush/Tree/Building occlusion tweaked to fix "cant hear through a bush"
  • The "ItemRadio" slot has been removed in ACRE2 - all radios now appear in your inventory
  • Fixed a bug that would cause repeatedly beeps/squawks with the 343
  • ACRE Omnibus released - please see below.

Additional Changes

  • ACRE2 Debug & Testing functionality added to acre_sys_debug and acre_sys_gui
  • Entire engine upgraded to VS2015+C++11; if you require an older runtime, see the extras folder
  • Named Pipe permissions fixed to not require running as administrator. If you have issues, try running Teamspeak & Arma NOT as admin, but as a regular user.
  • Solved some cases where named pipes would not connect
  • Editor stutter fixed
  • CfgAcreRadio's have changed to CfgAcreComponents, in preparation for racks and components
  • The 152 and 117 have been implemented, operational as the real radios and co-operational with the 148. See their associated manuals for usage.
  • The PRC-117 needs to go INSIDE a backpack
  • Fixed a frequency programming bug in the 148 where the channel frequency would invert
  • The API Function of globalVolume now actually applies to global volume
  • ACRE now loads a custom font for better realism of UI's
  • Huge internal code breakout and function cleanup
  • You can now double click radios in your inventory to open them
  • Radio Noise disabled for intercoms. The effects stay the same, but the new noise is not generated on intercoms.

There is also new volume controls in TS3 for ACRE2. If you are experiencing low volumes please use the new settings screen to adjust them to a comfortable level.

ptYonUi.png

Settings->Plugins->ACRE, select Settings. Change the pre-mix and post-mix volumes until your sound is better.

New Radios

AN/PRC-152

AN/PRC-117F

Also an AN/PRC-77 is almost ready for release, as well as a remade 343 courtesy of JP, though these will probably come post-stable release.

JVON & The ACRE2 Omnibus

ACRE2 Omnibus provides seamless VON experience in ArmA3, replacing the in-game VON system and removing the need for external voice chat clients (such as TS3). You can still use your favorite chat client alongside JVON, but this integrates ACRE2 and in-game voice into a single solution.

This is an alpha release of JVON, it is not considered stable!

To find out more information on how to setup JVON/Omnibus on your server please see the following tutorial: http://gitlab.idi-systems.com/idi-systems/acre2-public/wikis/acre2-omnibus

For those that are on the fence or unsure of what the JVON integration are, and what it matters.

JVON sessions for clients that run ACRE2 are able to connect to any server they wish from any means they wish, commandline, server browser, PlayWithSix, or any other means, and without the need to use any separate application join to the server that they are participating on's JVON Server. Upon connecting to the server of your choice that is running ACRE2 with JVON present, you will automatically join that server's JVON session and game channel.

This application is bundled with ACRE2 and requires no clientside configuration by default. It will launch when needed, and close when you disconnect from game. Side Note with the current build there are some instances where it can remain open after the game has been closed, this may or may not affect all users. And I would expect work to address this fairly frequently now that the 2.1.x.x builds have been put forward as public stable.

Configuration of the application and hotkeys can be managed from ingame if needed. Additional diagnostic tools are included with the JVON client, to adjust for individual speaker and microphone configurations as well as selections. Additional configuration of acre functions now happens in game. There is no need to be out of game and edit a userconfig file or anything of that nature, even w/o the use of JVON.

For the server hosts, setting up JVON is as simple as appending 4 additional lines to your server config, and running a single executable.

There is also the option for *nix hosts to run this as well, although I have yet to test this functionality myself.
