That's great, thanks for this latest update, this is one of my favorites weapons packs and they all give an error message when loading the game.

Guys, rifles have accuracy to kill at 1000 meters?

I kill enemies from that distance easily with some weapons. That dont have too accuracy? I think all arma weapons have much accuracy than usual

then use the Arma weapons!! All you've done is whine and complain about this addon, feel free to make your own one that you feel is better than this one, but you're spamming !!

Why are you answering to a member that way ? Why being like that ?

 

He just reporting an issue, that's all, he's not spamming. Why are you all like that, seriously ? Patronizing and attacking those who just help by reporting issues, that's a really bad attitude.

 

About the mod, the quality upgrade on the SCAR rifles and variants are really nice. The SMA Weapons Pack is really great, I use it since the first release, a really nice and well made addon. The quality is here, in all details of each rifles. That's really a pleasure to use this addon with the ArmA III Engine.

I don't read everything, and if he said something bad, maybe it's to the author of the mod to ask something, or if he don't say anything, just don't answer and ignore.

 

I don't patronize anybody, there is already enough members and modders that think they are gods here, that's enought. That's not patronizing to said someone to avoid to have a bad attitude, so, there's not anything like that in my answer. If someone that said something real about a situation is a person that patronize others, maybe you should check the definition of this word ?

 

Anyway, I don't have time for that and don't want to go off topic more.

To the author, concerning the mod, just for information of course, I don't need any precise answer, it's just because I like the mod, do you planning actually to add more content ? The overall quality is great, more variants should be really welcome, and of course, that's just for speaking about the mod.

That there is your problem right from the start, you jumped into something you're not familiar with.

 

Personally I'd like to see what weapon, and what scope, with video to support flymakers claims, because personaly I think he's grossly exaggerating or else he's an awesome sniper, I am inclined to think the former.

If you''re going to make such claims, back it up with evidence, the guy already states he didn't like the ballistics, and wants to rip this addon apart and use BIS ballistics, and create his own configs, which is disengenous to the guys who done the ballistics, BIS ones are shite, a man doesn't die being shot in the foot with a 6.5mm at 10M's !!

I have simply said, create your own addon using assets available and put wheatever you want in them, that's what all addon makers do, the people behind this addon know their ammo ballistics.

I came here to ask about some aspects of the mod. I do not want to be a pain in the ass.
 
People still talk about "you make a new mod to put your preference," but this is not my intention. Community has a lot of different weapons mods and create another will not be the best option. And I do not have enough knowledge to do so.
If I'm still wondering and talking about here it is because I have a preference. I like these addon more than others.
 
I do not know about real weapons. I came up with an idea and after reading some answers I changed my mind. Now I'm just wondering understand how things work. I have a curious mind (I do not know if it makes sense to English speakers. In other words, "I'm hungry to know about things").
 
But now I think I will seek help elsewhere. My English is bad and I do not know if I'm going the right feeling about my questions.

@Ghost_Warden, you admitted to not having read any of the previous posts and inserted yourself into a debate between two people-never a good idea.

 

@ flymaker-I understand you are eager to learn about altering Arma content-and that is a great thing. Maybe due to your english-which is pretty good- it may have come across the wrong way to some people.it sounded like you wanted to tear apart an existing mod and make it more like vanilla weapons-which most people would disagree with.I do not think that was your intention however. If you are interested in learning to mod Arma then there are a lot of topics on the subject, or you can start your own to get specific questions answered.

 

@RoadRunner-same thing, I agree with what you were saying, but I think this was more of a case of crossed wires more than anything else. :)

 

Anyway-let's just get back to discussing the addon instead.

I remember seeing that the SMA team only want their accesories used on SMA weapons to avoid clipping etc.

I see. Their side mounted PEQs are available to other weapons and I think their MK18 specific light/laser combo should work on RHS MK18 without clipping. I'm staring at config files but I don't know what to look for :)

RHS MK18 config. You will find WeaponSlotsInfo somewere in the config path

Just follow the requiredaddons and classes

unless they're positioned exactly the same, and their proxie match, then it might work, if not they will clip, or be off, as they're two very different models.

This has to be written into the RHS weapons config, but if you write it like this, you will lose all the other RHS attachments for the rest of the weapons, it also means your 4GB RHS addon is dependent on another 1GB, if  addon. If you don't wrte it correctly, you will start to get errors about missing classes.

If you know how to write configs, and repack the mod, it's fine, if you don't know what you're doing, and trash your main addon, that's what happens when you run before you walk. ;)

so in regards to compatibility with our attachments on other mods.

It is Intentional as specific things such as Laser light combos and Top mount attachments should never be place able on any weapon in game. The reason is Every gun is a different shape size and height so you will find the clipping would be horrible as the attachments are at a set height. So for example if you where to use the same ANPEQ top mount from the M4 it would clip half way through the gun on the SCAR.... There are mods out there that think this is ok but it drives me nuts when everything clips horribly. This is why i create attachments for each weapon in SMA so the fit is correct. Have a close look at the Mods that allow any attachment for any gun and you will notice it is actually pretty cheap way of supplying attachments.

 

Keep in mind this only applies to Top mounts and Lazer light combos, everything else like suppressors and side mount lazers or torches is set by a proxy point on every weapon and can be shared across all guns but still will not guarantee no clipping.

If our Mod does not support compatibility it is for a reason. We do not want people to alter or tamper with the mod in any way, SMA works as intended. If the weapon you prefer to use is not in SMA and the author has not supplied the attachments to your liking then take it up with them.

I had an incorrect memory that the RHS and RobertHammer accessories were correctly placed on the weapons in your pack, so I just reinstalled SMA to check and you are right, they are indeed clipping to a point where it's unacceptable. I'm sorry for taking too much time and attention to this, I was under the impression that it was a simple "enable function" thing. Thank you for your time!

Thanks blazer chamber! Clears it up how bout the flash hiders? Are other mods able to use them or it still may cause bad clipping?

Hey,

 

I've always think that the SMA Weapons Pack is one of those which actually contain the better models quality. Some other mods are great too, and some completely bad (kind of Minecraft weapons you know) and I think that it's better to let the AN-PEQ/SureFire combos for SMA Weapons like that and don't try to adapt them to other weapons.

 

I'm doing my own configuration files, with autorizations of course, to have the better rendering ingame, for accessories and specifically for muzzle accessories. I've already see so many clipping here and there, for example, the suppressor that completely passing through the canon or the front hand guard, and so I highly recommend to avoid that for not having the same issue with the combos on other weapons.

 

But if you still want to try, you still can make your own configuration file, like I do, and adapt each accessories for the weapons you want.
