Hi-I can see this is your first post on the forum, so i'll just ask you to have a quick read of the rules found on the main page. Asking mod makers for release updates etc is considered spam here. Anyway-have a read throgh the rules-it's all in there.Thanks.

And welcome :)

Hey guys, why does 300 blk have a smaller impact bar than any other 5.56 on virtual arsenal? Isn't 300 blk a bigger bullet than 5.56?

.300 AAC Blackout uses a 7.62mm projectile in a cut down necked up 5.56x45mm cartridge, thus making it a 7.62x35mm round. Yes in RL they weigh slightly more than the average 5.56mm round, but not by much. The recoil on 7.62x35mm is actually LESS than 5.56 or 7.62x39 as they use pistol powders to attain their velocity, this is also what allows them to be used effectively in shorter barrel lengths such as 9 inches and 13 inches with minimal loss, especially when compared to 5.56x45, 7.62x39, and 7.62x51.

I have actual first hand knowledge here as I have shot .300 Blackout from both an 11 inch barrel and a 16 inch barrel AR in both Supersonic (2400 ft/s) & Subsonic (1090 ft/s) with andwithout an AAC 762 SDN-6 Suppressor, the recoil of a .300 Blackout round is a "gentle" push where as with 5.56 and 7.62x39 it's more like a shove, and with 7.62x51 in short barrels is like a punch.

Wow thanks a lot for your reply. I would like to shoot rifles and experience this but in my country only the bad guys have access to them...

So, can i disregard the impact bar? Does the 300 blk is stronger than 5.56 in arma3?

Sorry, I did not know that was a rule. I had been on other forums before and that wasn't a problem. I would not consider it as 'spam' as you are asking a question, the update is taking a long time to come out and I was just inquiring for an estimated date of the release.

Thanks

It is actually one of the more serious infractions here. Addon makers do all of this amazing work for free and in their spare time and some people can get quite rude and pushy looking for things to be released/updates etc. Anyway-have a read of the rules and you will see it all there. Thanks

Also-asking when something will be released will almost always be met with the reply "When it's ready" ;)

Yes in a sense .300 Blackout is a more powerful round than 5.56mm in its own design parameters. Let me explain....

The 5.56x45mm NATO round with an M855A1 loading has a maximum point effective range of around 500m MAX under optimal conditions, usually its about 450m with 550m being area target max effective. Point effective range for .300 Blackout supersonic with a 130 grain projectile like the M80A1 EPR projectile loaded to about 2190 ft/s is about 400m point effective and 460m area effective.

The 5.56x45mm NATO round in M855A1 will have similar impact energy as the .300 Blackout at around 400m however due to its higher velocity it is capable of going past .300 Blackouts max point effective range. However 5.56x45mm NATO is a much higher pressure round using a different powder grade, and has a little more recoil and its a bit "sharper", where as the .300 Blackout is a bit more controllable.

Addendum:

Is the .300 Blackout a replacement for 5.56x45mm NATO?

NO, both are just as viable, remember that M855A1 EPR's are going at around 3000+ ft/s, where as a custom loaded .300 Blackout with an M80A1 projectile at max load would be going 2190-2210 ft/s, this dramatically affects the rounds performance on barriers, body armor (in RL, ArmA is weird with body armor), and terminal performance on "soft targets".

Is 300blk officially adopted by the American army? Or is it just for civilian markets?

.300 AAC Blackout is NOT adopted by any military force in the world, there are a few Law Enforcement Agencies here in the USA that use it on a VERY limited basis, much like 6.8x43mm SPC II. Its primarily used by civilians, and civilians can not own M80A1 ammunition made for the US Military, however we can own the M80A1 projectiles, from there you can reload as you wish, that is the "loophole" as it were. There have been a very select few people that have gotten their hands on the M855A1's and M80A1's in the civilian market and I have talked to them about the rounds performance and even seen ballistics gel testing and armor testing videos, in all 3 of the following.... .300 Blackout, 5.56x45mm NATO, and 7.62x51mm NATO.

@Spartan... so basically the .300 is a SBR purpose built rnd that was designed with subsonic suppressed fire in mind, It has slightly higher kinetic impact punch but slower speed than conventional 5.56x45 rnd, so they basically cancel each other out, and that where this .300blk rnd. really shines is in Suppressed Short Barrelled Rifle in Close Quarters Combat?

There's nothing wrong with the SMA configs, I read your other post and it's rather disingenuous to the creators of this addon, the guys behind this addon know their shit, the only thing wrong is the ItemInfo error, which pretty much all weapons addon makers face and are fixing.

You want to make the SMA weapons more like A3, which is a HUGE step backwards in my opinion, SMA are one of the top weapons addon makers, it's because the A3 default weapons pretty much suck, that people put the time and effort in to be more realistic, and in this case, my own personal opinion they have it pretty much spot on.

If you want to have such an addon as you desire, make it from scratch, altering anything in this one takes away the whole point of this particular addon.

Like i said on other topic i dont want to hinder the progress of this addon. I think is a awesome work. I just want a alternative CFG with Arma Standards.
Some people like to play arma as a game, other like real simulator. I want to make a balance between real and virtual.

Weapon mods to me is a addon to arma weapons and not a replace for then. This is the reason i want configs more equal to original arma.

Well...again, you can have exactly what you want-if you make it :)

This is exactly what i am trying to do. A custom private CFG to use with the mod.

Make custom CFG's is against mod community rules?
