I have an update ready(ish), that i will push when the stable gets updated from the devBranch. It fixes most of the stuff you mentioned. I'll also look into the insignia stuff.. it's hard to do with the models BIS provides.

Viking19: I loved NorFor for OFP, especially the MB with the cute little sign on the back saying "Du er kanskje raskere, men vi har våpen" (You might be faster, but we have guns)

That said, thank you very much for this mod Vasilyevich! I love seeing my country represented in the ARMA verse! I am just a bit curious on why you decided to make it, since your not from here? Can you explain why?

^^ Again, this is pure brilliance!

Well, we have some norwegians in tier1ops (the group i'm in) and at some point one of them mentioned that he wants a norwegian army mod in arma 3... well, it kinda escalated from there ^^

Funfact: i never used the units myself, altough we might integrate some of the uniforms to our modset (in the group). After seeing this mod they made me redo our own "tier1ops" uniforms:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46305113/Tier1Ops/T1_Standard_Camo.png

New Update will have stuff like (list is subject to change):

- Reworked code (boring :P ) so all uniforms are in line (weight) with vanilla A3 ones

- UGVs (a bit like those)

- Reworked uniforms with proper M03 (Desert) and (M98 Woodland) camos

- Insignias

- More stuff (?)

Great stuff!

If I may add some info on uniforms, I'll stop hassling you!

- M98 has been phased out of service with most regular army units (parts of the Home Guard use it, and it is often used for new recruits during boot camp). The old M98 had ranks displayed on the shoulders, like so http://www.aftenposten.no/migration_catalog/article5441802.ece/BINARY/w380/F-Br%C3%B8dtekst-uniformR%C3%98DRING.jpg (that is incidentally the Telemark Batallion beret)

- M04 is the new standard uniform. It has rank displayed on the chest, velcro patches on the sleeves, etc (intended as an improvement over the M98). The M04 can be seen here http://bloggfiler.no/grindenigarden.blogg.no/images/1242485-10-1346279810904.jpg

- "Tropical" uniforms are also popular, one example can be seen to the left in this photo (Telermark BN). M04 is in the middle (Armoured BN), and Taiga jungle uniform (see below) to the right (FSK). They are lighter, slightly different colour-wise and treated with insect repellant. http://forsvaret.no/sites/media/PublishingImages/seremonien_fotoTrudeHansen-9_260412163238.jpg

- FSK favour the Taiga jungle uniform (as above). Telemark Batallion also started wearing these as of this time last year. https://www.coldskills.com/linje-1-bekladnad/faltuniformer--varme/nor-kamouflage-c-386-1.aspx. It has sleeve pockets and a number of other handy features - mainly intended for jungle warfare but worn in garrison by both units.

- MJK (and other navy "land-oriented" units) favour Arcteryx gear, often in combination with multicam http://s602.photobucket.com/user/vor033/media/Norway/17_zps7c3fd2e6.jpg.html (guy on the right wearing Arcteryx jacket) and http://forsvaret.no/sites/artikkelbilder/PublishingImages/_w/20130612__PEDERTORPMATHISEN_0322_jpg.jpg (with visible MJK insignia)

In Somalia, they wore khaki uniforms http://forsvaret.no/sites/media/PublishingImages/Karriere%20som%20marinejeger_02.JPG.

The MJK special boat operators also commonly wear green jumpsuits http://forsvaret.no/sites/artikkelbilder/PublishingImages/_w/tkR37122_jpg.jpg

Now that's enough rambling, just to give you some ideas!

The beret badge worn by the Norwegian army is slightly different from the one you are using. A picture of it can be found at the top right of page 5 in this document (army head dress regulation): http://web.medaljemontasje.com/Harenshodeplagg.pdf.

- all the circles below it are different flashes worn behind the beret, depending on what branch of the army the soldier is in.

- the beret colours of the Norwegian army can be found on the next page of that same document.

For the purposes of your addon i think the beret you have chosen works well - dark green is the "generic" army beret and suits your addon nicely. Other good options would be emerald green (Telemark Batallion), Black (Armoured Batallion) or Sand (2nd Batallion).

The new update will have green barets instead of the black ones - i need to figure out a way of getting that thingie at the front to work - if i fail to do so i'll stick to the old thingie.

MJK and FSK do not use their unit insignias in quite the same way as you have chosen for this addon.

- firstly, the unit insignia for MJK is actually this: http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/Navy/mjk/mar_mjk.jpg

Apparently there are no plain images of that insignia - so i had to make it by hand:

MJK_Logo_2013.png

But with all that said, the SOF never wear unit insignias when on operation (or certainly I haven't ever seen photos of them wearing them).

They wear them sometimes for exercises and demonstrations.

I think they look cool in your addon, and I think so does most people, so it's a dilemma between realism and coolness :)

(another option is to remove the insignias for the SOF altogether and just keep one soldier with each uniform with insignias - or the other way around!)

I'll stick to the cool thing, it's easier *is very lazy* :)

I was part of Norfor making addons for OFP/Arma/ArmaII and have loads of ideas for Norwegian stuff if you are interested!

Sure, keep it comming, but please keep in mind that this is an retexture mod - i won't make/port/modify models regarding meshes and/or normals.

M98 has been phased out of service with most regular army units (parts of the Home Guard use it, and it is often used for new recruits during boot camp).

Since i only have to M98 (just go my hands on an awesome new highress seamless texture) it will stay for now.

M04 is the new standard uniform. It has rank displayed on the chest, velcro patches on the sleeves, etc (intended as an improvement over the M98). The M04 can be seen here http://bloggfiler.no/grindenigarden.blogg.no/images/1242485-10-1346279810904.jpg

This is not possible without modding the uniforms themself - therefore i won't be able to do it, since this is an retexture mod - i still try to get as close to the original as possible (ofc).

"Tropical" uniforms are also popular, one example can be seen to the left in this photo (Telermark BN). M04 is in the middle (Armoured BN), and Taiga jungle uniform (see below) to the right (FSK). They are lighter, slightly different colour-wise and treated with insect repellant. http://forsvaret.no/sites/media/PublishingImages/seremonien_fotoTrudeHansen-9_260412163238.jpg

Well, i would like to say that i intended the multicamo for this - since there are simply too many different camos to cover them all - altough i might make a snow camo in the future (i need a highress TEXTURE for that - if anyone has one, it would be awesome).

FSK favour the Taiga jungle uniform (as above). Telemark Batallion also started wearing these as of this time last year. https://www.coldskills.com/linje-1-bekladnad/faltuniformer--varme/nor-kamouflage-c-386-1.aspx. It has sleeve pockets and a number of other handy features - mainly intended for jungle warfare but worn in garrison by both units.

There is already an norwegian jungle units mod out there LINK - i might do my own jungle units in the future.

MJK (and other navy "land-oriented" units) favour Arcteryx gear, often in combination with multicam http://s602.photobucket.com/user/vor033/media/Norway/17_zps7c3fd2e6.jpg.html (guy on the right wearing Arcteryx jacket) and http://forsvaret.no/sites/artikkelbilder/PublishingImages/_w/20130612__PEDERTORPMATHISEN_0322_jpg.jpg (with visible MJK insignia)

In Somalia, they wore khaki uniforms http://forsvaret.no/sites/media/PublishingImages/Karriere%20som%20marinejeger_02.JPG.

The MJK special boat operators also commonly wear green jumpsuits http://forsvaret.no/sites/artikkelbilder/PublishingImages/_w/tkR37122_jpg.jpg

Because everyone loves pictures, here is a sneakpeak on the uniforms with the new texture:

Looks awesome! All i was saying above was talking about the different uniforms we have, wasnt expecting you to make them all!

Those photos look great!

With regard the insignias (IF you wanted to try and remove them from SOF) - you could just make the insignia texture file empty and transparent (i think? This worked in OFP/Arma/ArmaII anyways). Just a thought I had now.

That hand-drawn MJK insignia looks fantastic and way better suits your blue uniforms.

The green one i posted is more woodland.

Also another bit of info on equipment -

The entire army was issued new OPS Core helmets last year. I'm not sure if this is doable with your addon (in OFP it would have to be remodeled, but i believe you can choose gear in Arma3?)

http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7384/10083800004_6d0f30f62c_m.jpg

And http://abload.de/img/horda01slyb6.jpg

This article has good photos on the differences in the 'old' infantry (not many years ago) and todays 'new' infantry http://m.klikk.no/produkthjemmesider/vimenn/reportasje/article827711.ece (just if you are interested).

Again man, looking great, I'm basically just thinking out loud here so feel free to ignore me!:)

I might have to invest in a new laptop and Arma3 to play around with these bad boys!

Would it be possible for you to add "Nor" at start of all the non FSK/MJK item names for ease of navigation in the armory?

Hello, I really like this mod! Nice textures and vehicles. I only miss air units, so I looked up Wikipedia. They have:

- F-16's great aircraft, but it's not in ArmA 3. Maybe someone can port it to ArmA 3?

- C-130's I know it's been ported to ArmA 3. Maybe some little retextures and you're ready to go! You, the USAF mod and the C-130J port itself will then be they only mods with a C-130, that might attract a lot of people!

- C-17's Same as C-130

- Lynx's You could retexture the WY-55 and retuxtre it

- NH-90's Maybe retexturing the Mohawk?

That are just some idea's. I know you're busy with the CSAT project, but these aircraft will be very cool!

Greetings

Edit

The F-16 has been ported by the HAF mod

Awesome as usual!

If you want any ideas, here are some recent photos of MJK, FSK (both in multicam) and also the police anti-terror unit Delta (in black).

Theres a good shot of a MJK insignia/patch on the 7th from last photo, and a good photo of a "green colours" Norwegian flag in the last photo.

Particularly the latter I think is a good idea, since the good old red, white and blue stands out quite a lot in the field.

http://www.vg.no/bildespesial/11774/

Another option for that is to darken the colours a little, like in this patch: http://www.milrab.no/DataImage.ashx/10506737/150/150 (versus this one which is in full colours: http://www.milrab.no/DataImage.ashx/10506735/150/150)

Again, just suggestions - Keep up the good work!

You've missed linking to the recent photos :) Guess it's the ones I've seen too, but those were on facebook, and in another order than yours I think.

Speaking of insignias, i'm currently working on them - well, they are finished

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46305113/Norwegian%20Units/WIP_Screens/insignias.png

When i release the update i will also release the source files of the insignias, so you can make your own, if you wish to do so.

Sweet! Love the idea of making our own if we want!

May i suggest you make the middle flag slightly green? Like this: http://www.milrab.no/Norsk-Flagg-Green-%285x7cm%29-Velcro-MILRAB/cat-p/c/p10501604 (doesnt look terribly green there, but it has a slightly green hue in real life, not straight grey).

Also I like the lower three insignias - the "wing" of the FSK operators, Odin and his two ravens. Viking power!

This symbol serves the same purpose as the MJK wing you used in the last update - it is given only to newly graduated FSK operators and worn centred on the left chest pocket.

So to anyone interested, the winged dagger is the FSK unit patch, while Odin is the wing of the operators (in real life in the link below, 6th picture row from the top). Incidentally, the conscripted fallskjermjegers ("para rangers") of FSK are given the wing below that on the same page.

Then for MJK, the dragon (based off the galleon figure on the Oseberg viking ship) with wings and fins is the unit patch, while operators are given the "wing" (also visible in the below link, below the first row of MJK patches).

http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/Patches/norway/army/after06/hjk.htm (Many of those other patches are unofficial "fun" patches and old ones no longer in use).

The "wings" in this context are signs of being a qualified operator (same as the US Navy SEAL Trident), and are worn in addition to parachute jump, diver and EOD wings etc.

The green/black unit patches are used on woodland and multicam uniforms (as per the photoshoot I was talking about earlier). The desert ones I haven't seen in a while in the media, and the black on white ones are used on dress uniform like here on our highest decorated officer: https://fbexternal-a.akamaihd.net/safe_image.php?d=AQDQkXE1cOjBENU5&w=470&h=246&url=http%3A%2F%2Fap.mnocdn.no%2Fincoming%2Farticle7559396.ece%2FALTERNATES%2Fw1024c169%2Fafp000712313-OtSs0h0Qc0.jpg%3Fupdated%3D070520141811&cfs=1&upscale

Also another idea I just had, if you are including MJK and FSK units with berets (I think you should include one plain soldier of each if its feasible - nice props for missions!).

When the naval commandos and naval divers split into two units in the 1950/60's, they each adopted their own flashes - green for the operators of MJK (who also operate alot on land=green) and blue for the naval clearance divers (MDK, who do most of their work in the water=blue).

The following is a photo of the MJK beret in navy blue with the green flash: https://www.google.no/search?q=marinejeger&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=Gy4&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=z2H_U7O9F-Hg4QS5zoGwCg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=609#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=75XxLO68GgDrBM%253A%3BzGg7SbbPAd5BMM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fimg691.imageshack.us%252Fimg691%252F2815%252F114di.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fmilforum.net%252Farchive%252Findex.php%252Ft-53566.html%3B800%3B600

(If that doesnt work either scroll down until you see it or here's the rather embarrassingly moulded beret of a past MJK commander: http://g.api.no/obscura/API/image/r1/escenic/478x1000r/1248883737/archive/02731/pirater-adenbukta-_2731358a.jpg)

And finally, a slightly different green jump suit worn by MJK operators: http://fofo.no/Skipsjakten.b7C_xdbI1n.ips (last photo)

Just an idea.

Another long-winded and messy post, sorry!

Oh, man, I've been searching for this kind of mod for quite a while. Finally there's have a Norwegian Forces mod for ArmA 3!

So glad to see this have been made, and version 2.0 released on the day I find it. I'll test this out ASAP and return with feedback.

Congrats on the release. The new textures looks great. Glad to see the proper Norwegian camo patterns back on the vehicles.

Only thing missing now is a Bell 412 and a f16 :)

As promised I'm returning with feedback.

First of all; great job on the units and the camouflage. It looks fantastic! It's pretty much everything I wanted, except for one small thing.

Even though it doesn't seem to be widely used, I'd love to see some kind of winter/arctic camouflage clothing, like a white "coverall". I feel uniforms and vests like these or these would be a great addition. The helmet and vests shouldn't be too hard to reskin to a white color, right?

Other than that I'd love to see some weapons as well, but I couldn't seem to find any being ported to ArmA 3.

I'm thinking about that, since i already have snow textures for most of the vehicles it would be mostly config work. But still, i'm taking a little break to see if everything works as intended before adding new units :)
