MORE RAM good idea for lots of ai?

Recommended Posts

I have 8GB of RAM rite now.Stress testing with ai infantry in molos town in altis. 32 vs 32 infantry ai cqb-my frames dip to about 20.

Im also using the tbb malloc by fred41(i beleive thats his name, apoligies).

My question is will upgrading by another 4 or 8 GBs of RAM improve frame rate,or is it pointless.

Thanks

More RAM won´t do anything. A better or overclocked CPU will.

Yes, but only by a half and mods aren´t really the best solution....

Overclocking the CPU is huge. If you can get an extra ghz, you'll get large boosts to performance.

If you have enough ram to run Windows, you're pretty much at the limit for how much ArmA will use anyway.

Get one of those new Devils Canyon i7's and overclock that if you want performance improvements. If you want better frames in Arma, that's pretty much the best way to get them.

did you check the malloc log to ensure its working ?

When you say you're stress testing, are you hosting the game and playing in the same arma instance or have you set up a dedicated server?

Even running a dedicated server on the same machine in the background will give you a significant performance boost over playing and hosting from within Arma.

I did, hugepages granted is what it states, besides the odd fallback msg which is rare, the logs seem to show it in effect.

And my testing is purely single player.

I did one thing i never thought would make a difference as its graphical, not cpu related.I changed the aspect ratio from 16:9,to 4:3

Game looks a little less sharp but everything seems more respnsive strangley.
