The Eridanus Insurrection - An Arma 3 Total Modication

canonical

Not quite. Halo Online is Russian, so they can steal the Halo copyright and MS can not do a single thing legally. They are only endorsing it because they have no choice.

I would hardly call it canon. But it will be interesting to see what they come up with. Even if it is P2W Cyrillic trash.

Falcon/Pelican pilot gun. Don't know the technical term, but there it is.

Due note that is the M638 Falcon front gun. For the Pelican, there are two guns, a 40mm chain gun that was common prior to 2525, and the 70mm M370 chain gun that became standard after 2525, though both should be available during the Eridanus time period.

Yeah, I just posted it cause of all the now canonical attachments to the weapons like the MA5s, DMR, and SMG

Iron sights on their MA5B look horrid though. *shudder*

343i is actually helping with development, so it being canon is likely. However, it looks like P2W garbage and we shouldn't really care. I mean it's cool to see blam! on PC, but I don't even think it's worth mentioning.

Yep and if you do research for on it, they had the lore on this project on development for at least a year now, It being that after Halo 3, The Elites (Being Arby's faction) and the Spartan IV's created a joint project to create and tech new technology in war games called the Anvil Initiative.

Its where this Elite Designed Spartan Armor was developed

http://cdn.inquisitr.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/helioskrillpng-8e9abf_610w.png (123 kB)

And this UNSC designed Elite Armored was developed

By they way Stirls The AR is either a MA5 C or D variant. I say D for they Have the H4 BR, so I wouldn't worry to much on it if you really don't want to

It's D, you can see it on the trailer. The ammo counter and colors on the weapon indicate it's an MA5D.

Anyways, how did that Falcon test flight go? I'm assuming it's going to be a helicopter model as well, with greater acceleration than the Pelican.

It shouldn't, the pelican, though heavier, is still powered by 4 vtol jet engines. After seeing how fast they move, inbound and outbound, in all halo games carrying extreme weight. There is no way the 2 prop blades of the falcon can speed up as fast or get anywhere near it's top speed. Unless we are talking about a completely different falcon then the Halo: Reach Falcon

Discussion of the Falcon vs the Pelican in maneuverability:

I didn't say anything about top speed, the Pelican in no way would lose to a Falcon in that aspect, but in terms of being nimble, the Falcon would outperform. What I'm talking about is if you had both hovering perfectly still, and two different Innies each shoot a rocket at both the Falcon and the Pelican. The Falcon would definitely be able to maneuver out of the way much faster than a Pelican would. I guess acceleration is too broad of a term, but nimbleness seems to be more of what I'm talking about.

A good comparison, and no one stab me for saying V-22, would be the AH-6 and the V-22. Yes, the V-22 can definitely reach a top speed faster than that of an AH-6, but it isn't as nimble as one. Granted the Pelican isn't a flying bus like the V-22, but taking account the mass of the vehicles and their means of movement, and also visual evidence in the games, the Falcon would definitely be a bit "quicker on its feet" than the Pelican I'd say.

I feel like if they were to make the Pelican both better in terms of overall maneuverability and top speed, the Falcon would become pretty useless. It's hard to explain what I'm saying, but I guess it would be initial acceleration in any direction. While the Falcon would be off the starting line first, the Pelican would quickly catch up and surpass it, if that gives you a mental image of what I'm saying.

Not to mention, you can fly both throughout the games at certain points (either legitimately or through glitches/mods) and the Falcon is definitely more nimble, no question.

See nimble is a way better term cause I remember on halo: CE. Those pelicans went from dead stop to vroom pretty damn quick. But nibble that works. From flying the falcon on Reach and the Pelican Gunship on H4. The Falcon defently had the Pelican beat on nibble

But acceleration and Speed. As mention. Pelican wins.

So I was playing the H3 Campaign. And the 1st time you fight the scarab. A pelican landed, opened its back hatch, and out drove a fully manned mongoose ready for the fight. I see that, look at the limitations of the arma engine, and sigh. Could plan such a bad ass recon op with that. But hey. The sling works. Hop on billy. We are off for a ride. Yeeeeehaaaaa

HYPE! Any chances for an ''Incredibly Serious Falcon Demo''?

Just like:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-eridanus-insurrection/videos/incredibly-serious-pelican-demo#imagebox

But hopefully it flies better.

Also not sure if you have read all the comments in:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-eridanus-insurrection/images/uh144-falcon-wip/#5173859

EDITED:

I was messing around with some arma 2 addons, and I found this:

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14518

It is a shame it has not been pored to arma 3 already, but that is not the reason of this post. It uses some pretty good scripts such as an afterburners mode that changes wing position, and a VTOL mode that makes the engines move. It has some burst effects and quite powerful weapons. In addition the sound engine is soo cool 3:15 :

I think it could be a great influence and reference for the Gladius. The only problem is that the creator is not around here anymore, so there is no way to ask him permission to use his stuff :/

Please spread the word around that the TEI team is looking for a character rigging artist.

I can't rig worth a damn, but I'm trying. Getting a hand for this stuff would be a gift from the heavens.

yeah this looks damn good, Idk if youre already doing it, but the rig needs to be skinnier, I think. I was going to ask Spacecat for helping you people out with rigs n stuff, but it seems like he got a distance to arma 3 modding.

Id like to possibly submit a vehicle suggestion. Appart from the pelican, one of my favorite UNSC air vehicles is the D96-TCE Albatross. I always loved this vehicles just because of how unconventionnal it looks and in my opinion it would be a great asset to your mod. It can hold up to 4 M12 FAVs or two of them and a single scorpion (placed sideways), or simply a shitload of troops and supplies. It can even act as a mobile command post though i dont know how that would apply in game, maybe a mobile VAS? I found this model while browsing for pictures, its the extracted model from the Halo 2 map Relic. Of course as you already mentionned you cant use copyrighted material but it sure can serve as an excellent reference: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=5481

It is indeed a fairly low poly model, 1564 to be precise, but im sure it would be useful.

As for D77 flight model. The coming patch will really polish it out, I can say that it will be quick, good yaw rotation at low speeds. However it does feels a bit sluggish in bank turns (not bathtub-filled-with-bricks sluggish like it was before though). I think it captures the feeling of flying something big and heavy, but with loads of power behind it.

I asked about the Albatross months ago, they said it most likely wont be included if I recall.

Is ASDG going to be compatible with the weapons in the upcoming update?

I think the most recent update to ASDG is comparable. If not then it was one of the older versions. I remember someone saying some version was compatible

What he means is if it will be fully compatible. You mean the crashing error with the older version of ASGD. Well see about getting it compatible, but no promises.

Just a question, would it be something on your side of the mod if your an ODST using a revive script you loose all your abilities like lowlight and visor controls upon respawn

Now that I think about it, shouldn't the barricades be in Misc. Objects/Buildings? After all, these are found both in ground and inside ships. Or you did not consider adding them? I think they would be a great addition, a frigate corridor full of these would be awesome, and you could use them to make cool bases.
