Ah, speaking of mods. Feel free to post mods here you would like to see supported by the campaign. TPW is already on my list and I'll do some research regarding weapon packs which will be available in the shop if activated. (Means, mods and weapon packs will stay completely optional.) So, feel free to throw in a name or two and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks, that's some useful input! I guess the weapon packs are fairly easy to implement: Just mirroring the config classes and put in a check when the shop items are being loaded - in theory. Unit packs won't be supported as the major factions already have customised units fitting the story - I can't do antyhing against replacement packs though. Sound and effect mods - don't know how they work, that needs to be tested. I'm afraid of anything that affects AI behaviour though.^^

Oh, and there won't be any dependencies. Any mod support whatsoever will only be done as long as usage of the mod in question stays optional for the user.

Ah, this darn bug again! I'm sorry, it seems like a problem with notepad++. See, to create the addon version I have to replace hardcoded file paths to the campaign dir. I do that with notepad's handy "Find in File..." function but it only gets ~80% of the filepaths on the first few tries. Problem is, there are around 500 references to the campaigns dir so I can't do it manually. I've tried it from a different folder now and he found 97 unchanged paths which I adapted - that should do it but I can't guarantee anything. The mission you've had troubles with should now be working. I only need to do all this hassle because the c****y steam workshop doesn't support campaign PBOs...

Dropbox link stayed the same and I've also updated the steam upload. So, you just need to download and overwrite it, or let steam handle the download. Thank you very much for reporting this issue and please give me a shout if you run into troubles again!

YAHAAAAAAA!!!! Finally, I was so eager to continue Raif´s quest for glory (or at least, money to pay the gals ;) Thanks for this wonderful surprise (thou you´ve mentioned that the beta was nearly out some days ago lol)

If you eventually don´t win any prize (let´s hope au contraire ), at least BIS owe you a honorable mention for a groundbreaking campaign - and a kickass dialog and virtual commerce systems ingame script -, to say the least! Now lemme check the new stuffs ;D

@zachtan1234: Ha, glad to hear M.E.R.C.S. also has an educational purpose now! Though I still fear that some players won't get it or just think "What the hell is this cr*p?!" But I don't care, I must say <username> has become my favourite character, I will use him in future projects for sure!

Ooof - I've just spent a good two hours fighting Microsoft Visio, GIMP, Word and other programs from hell to create a small flowchart for the few interested users. It shows the basic campaign flow behind M.E.R.C.S., how the missions are connected and what actions and conditions trigger which ending(-variant). It's more meant for people who've finished it at least once, liked it and wish to see all the other endings. Heads up, spoiler alert! ;)

Is the brightness supposed to be set way high? I cant see anything because its so high.

i started my day, with some arma 3, so i decided to continue the campaign, when i choose a mission which is pretty much you getting a IT specialist and then head back to base, i head to the pickup location and all, i get there there is nothing there, well there is a laptop there, i get a option to use it i click it and a box pops up, with a bunch of numbers and shit, which looks to be something called binary numbers.. i have no knowledge in that shit, i have no clue what the numbers are suppose to tell me.. i have tried everything i can, am out of option what the h#&" am i suppose to do on this mission -_-

I haven't played that mission, but they look like coordinates.

If done classically, you read every block from right to left with every bit having the following values 8|4|2|1. So 0101 would be 0|1|0|1 = (8*0)+(4*1)+(2*0)+(1*1) = 0+4+0+1 = 5

@Night: Could be the ppEffects. Some users reported they find it too bright. You can disable them permanently by using either the TacPad's (Backslash-0-8-1) ppEffects On/Off button or paste into the debug console:

call IP_fnc_ppEffects

I'm working on that effect to make it less bright. ;)

@CrazyChrisX & stlassen: Precisely, it is indeed binary and both lines return a six figure grid coord each. There are tons of binary calculators on the interwebz and even your OS should have one. Nontheless, I've expected some people being confused by this mission. So, let's just calculate a bit. stlassen was perfectly right about the method - four bit, no leading bit, therefor every number is positve or zero.

0000 = (8*0) + (4*0) + (2*0) + (1*0) = 0

0101 = (8*0) + (4*1) + (2*0) + (1*1) = 5

1000 = (8*1) + (4*0) + (2*0) + (1*0) = 8

0001 = 1

0010 = 2

0100 = 4

So, the first set is 058124, which is not far from your position.

0000 = 0

0111 = 7

0011 = 3

0001 = 1

0010 = 2

0010 = 2

And the second set of grid coords woudl be 073122 which is a bit further. Stick a marker on the map and get going. ;)

Oh, and if you or anyone else runs into trouble with the small finite field calculation / One-Time-Pad-Encryption later on:

Di = Ei - Ki mod 10

E = 651269

K = 678145

i = 0

D0 = 6 - 6 mod 10 = 0 mod 10 = 0

i = 1

D1 = 5 - 7 mod 10 = -2 mod 10 = 8

i = 2

D2 = 1 - 8 mod 10 = -7 mod 10 = 3

i = 3

D3 = 2 - 1 mod 10 = 1 mod 10 = 1

i = 4

D4 = 6 - 4 mod 10 = 2 mod 10 = 2

i = 5

D5 = 9 - 5 mod 10 = 4 mod 10 = 4

this time am totally lost and i dont understand a thing.. so this is the issue http://i.imgur.com/Rtk3gOZ.png i have the coordinates for both E and D, but not the i, here is the thing tho the coordinates for both E and D goes way out in the ocean...

am getting a headache already trying to figure this out...

and if you ask, my math knowledge is horrible.

@CrazyChrisX: Hm, I like how much of an impact this small fomular seem to have. ;) Did you clear the AAF checkpoint already? If so, check one post up to see how it's calculated (inside the spoiler). Good luck!

So just a question, did you note the version numbers down anywhere inside the PBOs? Because the PBO I have doesn't have a version number noted down, so I have nothing to go off, just that the last mission I had was Hereford Calling (and that was basically just the intro). Any idea what version that was? Really don't want to be starting all over again :(

No, sadly, I just started to do that with 0.55. Did you use the addon version or the campaign PBO? If you played it a longer time ago most likely the the Campaign PBO which means you should download that version to have all your saves back.

IndeedPete, that was my overall favourite mission of Mercs.... A well-deserved break from shooting at people by solving maths.... Just finished MERCS btw, and kept redo-ing missions for different outcomes......

I've got some questions though......... (huge spoiler alert)

For the ION ending, when Kerry saves you....... Any chance of a sequel? Avenging Drazen and all........

For the NATO ending, even if I make it to the chopper, Raif still says it took off without him........ Is he supposed to die anyway?

For the AAF ending........ Any chance of being able to play as <Username> in a sequel or spin-off??? :cool: :cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
