Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a normal thing on conventional Blackhawks, but I know the 160th birds could do it. And extra linkages...? Yikes. Sounds like you would need to run vibes every time you had to fold them. Ouch.

Yep, Needs an MTF after unfold.

I didn't mean to derail the thread, I just understand you guys are detail oriented, so thought I'd put it out there. If it's a dedicated mission set, like that picture of an entire Company (?) of 160th on the carrier, then needing to fold is probably minimal.

Try Battalion. ;)

My unit, not nearly as high-speed as SOAR, does deck landings all the time.

This should be the extra linkage mentioned :).

Here a UH-60M folded up for transport in a C-17

But yeah, basicly anything is possible. Since we aim for realism, we will try to give it as much features as possible, but not all will be available from the first version.

Best regards

Mag

Those are Limas and the linkages are slightly different on the Mike model. (You can tell by the cockpit step-fairing and the BIM (Nubby things coming out of the base of the blade)) But the principle is the same. You have to swing the blade around one way, install the linkage, and then all the way back and around. Made possible by a group of people is at the blade tip with a pole holding it up and moving it.

Any chance of a full time-warped folding with the installation of the linkages? :p

We will see. Like I said I want to have fully detailed "props" that look good sitting in the hangar bay or flight deck. Also have some cool ideas for several different kinds of wrecks for all those BHD style missions. Once they.are fully mission capable our team will discuss various "extras".

We still have much to do on the Lima. Then the Mike will get overhauled. We then have to work on the littlebirds, and then develop and produce our MH47G

Honestly, I don't think it should be a priority. I know on the UH-60M that I'm making, I'm not going to faff about with blade fold kits or any fancy eye candy like that. I'm curious though, are you going to be modeling all of the crazy CMWS sensors that are randomly glued everywhere on the MH60M?

Are the burnt out hulks going to be molten messes in and around where the transmission/gearboxes are?

How twitchy are the guns going to be? (The sluggishness of the vanilla door guns is a tremendous pet peeve of mine)

Will there be a version with the 240H? If so, will it be a proper hotel with the spade grip?

Most components for the Mike are modeled, still have alot of texturing to do. Yes they will have all the fancy sensors, model specific. The L and M also have model specific cockpit panels, as well as the littlebirds

As for.the 240, it will only be included on the 47G

Wow. No wonder it takes hours. Yeah, that looks painful.

Try Battalion. ;)

You and your weirdo Army terms. It's aviation, it should be "squadron" or "wing!"

No doubt. I've actually done quite a bit with conventional Army on small boys (mostly out of Honduras). Other than flying your sims, I didn't do much with you guys up at PHHI when I was stationed on the island, but we'd qual the JTF B dudes regularly on deployment. But they never shut down and there was no place to stuff them, since our birds were already in the hangars, so no need to see the exciting blade fold extravaganza.

Hey guys mod is looking amazing, you guys are doing an awesome job.

Quick question, are you going to be implementing the Vanilla A3 Countermeasure system or working on something a little more realistic?

Also, I know it early in developement but how big are you estimating the finished mod file size to be? Would love to submit the finished article to the 7Cav for future use in our operation.

We are going to try doing something different with the countermeasures. Something like shooting off one to shooting off several flares. But its like I said it's something we want to try.

Far as file size go we don't know yet. I'm sure it wont be a small file.

aircraft survivability will be a big priority for us once the models are finished and we start development on features. We have already discussed several ideas regarding various forms of countermeasures, even going as far as different ways to simulate lower IR engine signatures. But if all else fails and your still engaged, the DAPs can handle escort duties easily lol ;)

To the team:

Given that the Helicopters DLC has been slated for a mid September release, do you personally think the Lima will be out by then?

and on that note:

Given that this whole mod is an ongoing adventure filled with experiences, which would you say was the most important so far?

We don't have a set timeframe, rushing the mod would lead to lower quality.

I think every aspect of the mod is important to us, and I hope that shows in our work

We all continue to push and outdo ourselves, so for your viewing pleasure....

So it seems that all of the goodies are in this. Opening doors, extending refueling probe, and dare i say the hoist....? Tell me this is true

Well the probe will be stationary as in the pic above. It will also be functional with community aerial refueling. It will however, be one of several base model components you can remove through the service menu

As for the hoist I know several community members that have been working on hoists, so we will.absolutely look into actual functionality when we start work on all the various features :)

With the addition of sling loads, you should be able to have a working hoist, in theory at least...

That would be awesome!

One quick question for you guys; are interactive cockpits something you guys are considering doing? (Sorry if it was already asked)

^ (Hasn't been asked, use the handy dandy thread search tool and you won't have to ask next time :) )

Interactive cockpits is an interesting idea, especially considering now it may be possible to have the TKOH style interactive cockpits, which was great, but didn't go as heavily in depth as the AH-64D cockpit. While I wouldn't have a problem with either of these, you might want to consider that the latter may throw of people who find it daunting. (If you do consider interactive cockpits, I recommend putting a poll down of what route to take, I really would like these helicopters to be almost a staple addon, if not more).

Also, if interactive cockpits are put on at the level of the AH-64D, you might want to think about working in the armament into the aircraft functionality, like the way the AH-64D works, also consider how you would incorporate the copilot in.

Just my two cents, loving the progress :)
