Benze 0 Posted July 25, 2002 Sit down children...I have a story to tell... Well, I was getting pissed off at resistance, I got plauged and attacked by scripting bugs. I finished the first mission and collected all the stuff from the russians. Got into the Ural, drove off. Got up the hill, BOOM, right next to me, the tank on the other hill shot at me. Thankfully, he missed and I drove off to the camp. Next mission. Fight! I run over to the Ural and take partial cover behind it, grab an AK74 and start shooting. Kill an officer, a machine gunner, two soldiers, and an RPG soldier. Not bad, have six people left. Expecting tanks. Expecting tanks. Expecting tanks. Waiting...where are the tanks? A scripting error. An Mi17 comes in and tries to drop off soldiers, I shoot it down. Waiting. Waiting. Ok, I hear them now...WAIT! That's not a single t72 and bmp...that's...that's...yep, two t72s and a shilka. I tell my squad to load up and start fireing, and if by some miracle, we get the bastards. We load up on weapons, and I am very happy with myself, as we only lost one man in the whole tank engagement. We drive off to the extraction point. No truck. Waiting. No truck. Well, the truck never comes. Shit! Â Retry. I have 6 men left. The tanks come, I shoot the t72 once and the bmp, destroying it. My other RPG man engages the t72 and kills it. Load up on the truck mofos! Load load load! 2: Negative 3: Negative 4: Negative What the hell? Get on the truck! They finally load up and I get out right before the bullets start zipping by. Well, the truck does come this time. Only the Mi17 spots me and toasts me. Retry. Everything is fine. Get the tanks, get to the spot with the Ural. But how am I going to take my stuff with me? After going crazy for a while, a finally realize to take the stuff OFF the Ural and put it IN the Civil. That makes sense! And it works. One small problem though. I am loading happily, and got just about halfway through when suddenly, yes, I hear the two 72s and a shilka. I could never engage them, my men are in the truck, by the time three even got out we were toast. Damnit! They are pulling up onto this road! I hide behind the civil and pray they don't see me or my men. Another miracle, they turn off not 15 meters away from me. I scratch my head. Dumb luck. I parked my Ural behind the Civil, so they must have had their view blocked. I finish loading and zip off. Woot! Convoy mission! Loaded them up on RPGs, one had MG from first mission. All! Stay Alert! All! Stand up! All! Return to formation! We are at a spot, on top of a hill. Perfect place. The convoy will come around 250-300 meters below us. All! Keep low! All! Danger! All! Watch Southwest/11 o'clock! Convoy rolls into sight. I take perfect shot on lead t72 with an RPG. I then destroy the BMP. Then I take care of the troop truck. My other men finish off the T72. Machine gunner mops off anyone left easily from our posistion. He also floods the ammo truck with fire and kills the driver. We move down into the valley, reload on any RPGs we find. I tell my team to hold fire. The tanks drive up to within 50 meters of my hiden team, and then we open fire and totally destroy them. I knew that there would be persueing infantry from the hills, so I high tailed it with the truck. Only I was filled with greed, I wanted all the RPGs, pistols, binoculars, machine guns, and any of the other sexy weapons there! I told my soldiers to stay put. I went WAY up to the highest mountain there with a dragunov from the truck. I walked over and started scanning the area for the infantry. I found them, and they were only about 300 yards away! I was lucky they hadn't spotted me first. In my surprise, I found this "persuing infantry" was only 6 or 7 guys, something I was surprised I couldn't take care of the first time I started the campaign. I zeroed and sighted, and took them all out. I went back to the ammo truck I parked in the forest near my camp, drove it over to the valley, and picked up all the MGs, RPGs, pistols, binoculars, AK74 + Grenades (I already had like 50 AK74 rifles) I picked up everything of use and drove back to camp to start another fun filled mission, the tank scrapping one. I'll keep you filled on that one! Woot! Thanks for reading and great game BIS, even if I was frustrated as hell on it first! Â
Chopstickz 0 Posted July 25, 2002 hmmm that sounds like u've had a spot of bad luck there mate:) all the bugs(except some mission bugs later on and the lose all weapons bug) in just tw missions!
billytran 0 Posted July 25, 2002 My story.... The mission was First Strike. I had just taken the town of Modrova in the previous mission, and the Soviets wanted it back. So, they send a whole bunch of tanks (about ten T-80's and T-72's) along with about two BMP's full of troops. My attempts to get them in the field failed miserably, mainly because the AI tanks wouldn't follow my troops. Retry. So, I hide all my tanks behind the woods to the East of town. I plant all these mines around the road leading to the town, and then some satchels in the entrance to the town. I hide a BMP down at the docks for my personal use. Then I get on top of the tallest building in town with a Dragunov and as many RPG's as I can carry. The tanks come in force, but my mines and satchels cut their numbers down. I order 2's tank platoon to head south into the town, and 3's platoon to head around to flank the enemy. My men fight well, but it's not enough and soon I'm the only one left. There's two T-72's, one badly damaged T-80, a BMP, and about fifteen infantry. I take out the T-80 with an RPG. All the enemy spots me and starts firing at my rooftop perch. I manage to take out a T-72 with two RPG's. I start sniping with the Dragunov, but I only have one mag so I'm doing it very carefully. I take out eight infantry and decide to save my last two bullets. With my last RPG, I disable the gun on the last remaining T-72. Now it's time to haul ass. I climb down the ladder and see a soldier in the courtyard outside my building. With my last two shots I take him out. However, this alerts the enemy and I have to dodge fire to get his AK. I shoot another three soldiers, then run like hell down to the docks. I jump in my BMP and slowly drive it into town. I spot an RPG soldier quickly enough that I have just enough time to jump in the gunner's seat and get him with the machine gun. Using an AT missile, I destroy the BMP. Then, I drive up to the disabled T-72 and blow it away with a sabot round. The rest of the infantry were taken care of with the coax machinegun. Mission Completed. r71 0 Posted July 25, 2002 Well at least they came for you. I am stuck on that mission. I was able to kill the tank crew in that town and repair them. I saw only 2 T72's come and that was all. I have tried this 3 times and still nothing. Its very easy to take the town and keep the tanks that are in the town but nothings happens.
Ruud van Nistelrooy 0 Posted July 25, 2002 well, let me tell you about the time my entire squad f'd up bad... We had word that a convoy was passing through a valley near our field base, two trucks with a T72 and bmp escort, frightening. Well, i got my squad together, most with RPG's, and we jogged merrily to the valley, with 10 minutes until the convoy arrived. The general feeling that this would be my last experiance on Nogova, the island i would die to defend, was amplified as 2 of my men got lost somewhere struggling to keep up. After they'd crawled, slowly, up the steep cliffside, i gave them a bit of a flogging, and rushed into position above the road, rpg ready, i ordered my men, engage at will, but then told them to hold fire. merely 40 seconds i could hear the slow rumble to vehicles, and sure enough, the convoy passed totally oblivious to the fact we were gonna own them. Ordering three guys to fire at the T-72, i attempted to take out the fast moving bmp, but it was not to be. Apparently a LAW is different to a RTP despite the fact they look the same. I went prone very quickly before my men saw my fuck up. Well, it wasn't long until the bmp was dead, as well as several of my men who for some reason were legging down the hill full throttle in front of about 8 slightly bemused russians, who killed them. I pinced a nearby rpg and fired into a group of 3 ruskies, sending them flying all over the place. Well, that was the convoy taken out, and we could finally enjoy the spoils of our efforts - a lovely ammo truck. Well, as i moved slowly down the hill i noticed one truck had buggered off and was driving away pretty fast. Luckily we shot it enough to kill the driver, phew. Then, boom, up went the ammo truck, i looked to my left and saw that this wasn't some fiendish russian ammo denier thing, but a dumbass resistance member called Bubba. Shooting him in the face out of pure frustration my squad decided to take out the other truck sitting on the road. Great. To sweeten things up, my scouts happily reported there were more tanks coming my way. ''Damm, i thought to myself, we'd better bugger off'', but no. Too often i say things that go against everything i think, and i said rather happily that i'd like to stay and take them out. Well, grabbing what i could from dead bodies we all legged it into the bushes. A few minutes later the tanks arrived. I couldn't be arsed waiting, and ordered a full out attack from long range. Now, before this my squad had all been, in a word, stupid fucking idiots, but now they redeemed themselves by landing 2 rpgs right onto the T-72, taking it out. And that was them out of ammo, but, never fear, i had 2 rpg rounds. Fooosh!!! i fired my rpg directly at the bmp, but, embarressingly, it landed short. ''Never fear lads, it has only seen a few of us'' (sound of horrible screams and dying as bmp fires at us) Foosh!! Never the kind to give up hope i fired again, only for the bmp, driving full speed forward, tol craftily dodge it. Shitting my pants by now i hit the dirt and sneaked under a tree, i looked up the hill, ''Oh Yes!!! Fry that Fucker Anatoly!!'', i saw a lone resistance guy taking aim with his big rocket tube, and was waiting in anticipation for him to fire. Unfortunatly, not only did he not fire, he got killed Expecting nothing but death, me and my last remaining squad member, a machine gunner, lay in wait. Feeling a bit evil i ordered my man to stand up and leg it to a nearby rpg, but predictably, he was killed. Well, after pondering for a few minutes what to do, i decided to crawl up to a nearby resistance guy (dead of course) and pray he had a rpg round left. He did! Foosh! i hit the bmp full on and it flew straight into some tree's, they all came crashing down and i felt some extreme satisfaction. Standing up i nicked some Binoculers, a AK, and all the rpg rounds i could find, and legged it back to base. Of course, because i'd had so much luck today already, god felt it neccessary to balence it out with some unluckyness, and a squad of russians beared down on me. Â being a real man, i legged it as fast as i could to the base, a few bullets whizzing past me, and success, i got there!! This story has been pretty long so i'll end it here. Plus i'm sorry about all the spelling mistakes i see i've made and can't be arsed changing
Benze 0 Posted July 26, 2002 Lol, great story. I always retry if any of my guys die. I'm going to try to keep a whole squad with quality weapons, all RPG soldiers if possible, if not MGs, with binocs, and sidearms. Never put "engage at will," just put "engage." If you put engage at will, units act really stupid, break formation and run at the enemy looking for a better spot to shoot. When they are doing this, they get killed. If you put engage, they just stay in formation and shoot, and usually kill the enemy before they shoot back.
Benze 0 Posted July 26, 2002 By the way, on keeping weapons, is it possible to pick up NVGs and give them to your squad, ie, put them in a truck? You can do that with binoculars, but what about NVGs? They seem kinda useless to a human, but to the comp they are great.

To be totally honest that squad that showed up after i'd taken out the tanks killed me I always have engage at will on, but i'm a crap leader in opf If i use just engage instead would it prevent my men blowing up the ammo trucks? i had to give all my rpg's only one round each to take out the T-72 so they couldn't take out the trucks

I got a pair for the crates, used them to take out all the enemy with a M-21, and then spent age making sure my men nicked NVG's from all the dead enemies. I also got the truck back to base safely, but after that mission my men always had NVG goggles
Benze 0 Posted July 26, 2002 Mine didn't kill the ammo truck. Better discipline? Â Actually, I think if you kill the driver of the ammo truck they won't blow it up. What I did, was when the T72 came into view, shot it once with an RPG. Reload quick. Shoot the BMP. Reload. Shoot the troop truck. The FIRST Ural. You just got about 20 kills right there. The other soldiers shoot the T72 and finish it. Order any machine gunners you have to fire upon the Ural Ammo, and if you are lucky, the driver will be killed. Your other soldiers will take care of any spare troops. Take the truck and drive it off with your guys trailing you. Park the Ural Ammo in the woods out of sight. Take a drugunov, or a regular rifle if you arn't good with druggys. The squad is only like 6-7 people. They are on a hill where you ambushed them. Kill, em, drive the truck over, and pick up anything important (machine guns, pistols, and RPGs).

It sucks, on that mission where you gotta go steal the tanks, we take out all the enemy, i order my men to nick some weapons to take home, and what do they do? destroy the frigging empty tanks. sometimes tho they don't. seems i'm gonna have to experiment with these commands
Benze 0 Posted July 26, 2002 Yeah, I have yet to perfectly finish that mission. I just won't take RPGs, and I'll collect all the RPGs myself and load them into the BMP, and destroy any attacking tanks myself. Bwahah.
Capt Morgan 0 Posted July 26, 2002 Okay I didn't find resistance to be that hard to be honest. On Fight mission I just hauled off and caped all the guys at the begining.  Then when Taz says tanks comming. I get an rpg and bring my rpg guy, then put one in the mg and wait, the tank and bmp stops.  I wait till the troops unload from bmp and cap bmp.  Resulting explosion kills troops.  Since I droped my ak I had three RPGs and quickly took care of the other tank. I then here the Mi17. It flew over and came in for a landing to my suprise. I watch as it starts droping troops and smoke it with a RPG.  Now I know there are more tanks on the way so I tell my guys to hold fire and get in the woods.  I then tell them to go prone.  In comes two T72s and shilka.  Smoke the shilka and two T72s who seemed to be lost looking for the RPG fire. I stayed right at the ammo crates the whole time smoking them.  I then chill a minute expecting more bad guys no one comes. I load up the Ural move to extraction and then load up the civilian. Piece of cake. wined up with 8 guys and move to next mission. Simple since I grabbed the satchel charges of the spetz natz at the begining I brought two sats and two rpgs and two clips of ak74. I nicely equip my squad with PKs and ak47 and grenade launchers. I hide my men right along the road in a large group of trees.  Place a satchel  on road just before the large group of trees starts and head up on the hill. T72 comes and BOOM it does a flip. Then the bmp unloads. I smoke the BMP with RPG. It kills all the troops around it.  I then tell my guys to open up Oh forgot to tell you I told them to hold fire.  Any who.  They smoke everyone else finished I then tell all 7 of them to watch difrent directions. when I get the message of more tanks.  I move the two trucks off the road past my guys run back plant another satchel on the road and load up on RPGS from dead guy.  T72 comes boom flip it and smoke bmp with RPG. I now have six dead russian tankers who accomdate my guys by relinguishing their nv and all the weapons laying on the ground.  So I am loading the truck and relized I haven't used save.  So I hit it. Then about thirty seconds later a russian squad comes over the hill and smokes two of my guys. ESC, Load.  I then smoke the russian squad and scurry back to camp with all my goodies. I found all the mission in resistance pretty easy.  Even the plain's one.  Which I figured out after two trys and didn't loose a man on it.  I felt that Resistance was less of a challenge then CWC.  Although I still want to know if there is an alter ending and if anyone has figured it out.  By the third mission after you steal the tanks all twelve of my guys had NV and good weapons.  Plus I had one hell of a weapon stash at this point. Only one mission did I get my ass handed to me because I tried going in there with tanks instead of just camping on the hill near the base and snipeing.  In most of the later missions you can just find the high ground, and arm 4 of your guys with sniper rifles. three with RPGs and 4 with PKS.  I did not loose a man through out all the missions and had pretty much an easy time of it. But then again I did not try and rush through the missions.  I took my time and camped alot of them.  This way any unexpected patrols  would be easily taken care of.  Also instead of attacking a base I usually just sat somewhere on top of a hill and sniped from above and let them charge me. Once I had cut down the russians to just a few guys left then I would move in staying low in the prone postion with the rest of my squad. I will tell you now 4 to five guys with pks on all the missions will handle any on comming infantry problem you have.
mrukas 0 Posted July 26, 2002 heres a story. i started the mission on that islan with a tiny civilian airport at malden. my group of black op(handgun) and two other groups borded three choppers on the way to raid an east controlled city. all choppers lifted up in the air and we where on our way. i had switched to first person wiew. as we where half way there it was no way of ejecting if fired at without drowning in the sea, and after a while i heard one of our choppers getting closer and closer. i looked out the window and saw one of ours just outside the window, and the second after BOOM! the dumb ass pilot just rammed into us and caused the death of 15soldiers + himself. end. resitance upgrade rules. how do you order your men to loot or stock up in ammo from an ammo crate? moerty 0 Posted July 26, 2002 what would a resistance boy do if he got a bag of shiny presents form uncle Sam? why he would attack an airport. so this resistance boy starts out the mission by rushing straight for the airport, he heard there is a chopper that is going to be landing there soon and not wanting to be one to miss out on greeting visitors he hauls ass. he gets there just in time as the helicopter is hovering to make a perfect landing, Viktor appreciates true skill and experise so he sets his soldier eager to try out his new stinger to hold fire. the landing is beautiful, poetic even, but all things must pass and viktor gave the fire order, the carnage was intense and the lucky survivors, scarred by this trauma, found therapy in oblivion as the snipers took care of them. viktor decided to advance at this point leaving his squad behind so they could cover him, the snipers taking out any enemy viktor spotted. just as he reached a position near the burned out mi-17 he hears a chopper attempting to take off, Viktor dosen't like it when people leave a party prematurely so he checks the distance, 500 m, "it's gonna be close" he says "one shot only", he aims, calculates an angle then fires. the chopper lifts off and viktor thinks he missed and in panic starts summoning his AA men to engage the chopper when it explodes. as dumb luck would have it viktor overshot the RPG and it connected with the chopper as it was lifting off, the force was strong in this one that night. unfortunately this meant that everybody and his grandmother was now shooting at viktor so he had to find cover quick, the other chopper crew took the opportunity to activate their chopper and lift it off. viktor, without any time to spare orders both AA men to target the hind and blast it, this time the hind manages to get to an altitude of 30 metres before it gets shot and the crew bail. for a fateful second the chopper hovers in the air, everyone gasps since many lives are now suddenly faced with a new danger, will the bird crash downwards to the hangar where most of east have taken refuge or will it slide to open field and spare all those below? the chopper starts sliding but without momentum plummets on the roof of the hangar creating spectacular fireworks, with bodies flying everywhere and the screams of the anguished being drowned by a storm of fire. the morale of the Soviets snapped like a spine and it was a mop up from then on with the resistance boys owning the night and the sky, much wodka was consumed later that night, courtesy of a soviets captains considerate donation.
