scottmillerukctrg 12 Posted April 23, 2014 Take a look at this chart. In one year there was a half-a-million population drop. which nowdays means 1/7 of all Armenians. Can you imagine if 1/7 of all the people you know dissapeared like that? What the hell happened??
Belbo 462 Posted April 23, 2014 In 2000/2001 there has been a census in Armenia. Between 1989 and 2001 they just estimated the population. They thought that emigration (especially after 1990) wasn't that big of a problem for Armenia, but it was. Tada, noone actually "disappeared", the figures are just not all that accurate. Belbo 462 Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) source? For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Armenia plus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censuses_of_Armenia Additionally it's quite common with irregular (or low frequency) censi, to drop certain factors that would count people in or out, so the numbers always get a bit stirred up. Especially in post-soviet countries you can see this kind of development. If you expected some kind of mass disappearance or a genocide, you'll have to go back to 1915/16. Otherwise you'll be disappointed. Edited April 24, 2014 by Pergor
