Maus tank to be rebuilt :O

Recommended Posts

So .. Wargaming, the makers of World of Tanks (nobody here talks about it?), wanted a new toy.

Apparently they are going on a joint op with Kubinka war musuem (owners of the last remaining Maus) and will rebuild the frickin thing :o

Even though it has pr-stunt written all over it, thats one special way burning through your moneys!

As much as I disagree with some of WG's financial moves (1% off is a specials, announcing a deal one day and the next upping it by $5,and the recent facebook like bribing) they have shown themselves to be tank enthusiasts.

"The Chieftan" gives tours to many of these WWII vehicles in a series called "The chieftans hatch" which covers many tanks ingame but of their real world counterpart, the outside, the engine section and the interior ranging from driver up to the commander, one of these series included a Maus that was gutted from the inside, if I had to guess this would be the chasis to which they will begin.

I don't doubt that WG would have the money to do this, not with all of those 90-100+ dollar deals in between WOT and WOP, whenever they attend E3 or a con they always have the biggest show floor, actual WW2 tanks such as the M4AE38, Jagdpanzer 38(t), and T34 with their logo painted upon it, dozens of computers lined up and of course dancers.

PR stunt or no (in the wake of war thunder ground forces) if they put the money to use in helping preserve history then I can only applaud them for it.

That'll be fascinating to see, especially since virtually nothing of the vehicle apart from the hull is left. Good luck to them, though.
