Anyone know of a solution to the absence of the "skirmish" module? For quick mission making.. Alive and DAC are too complicated. Is there a module that you can place on a town or a marker area and it populates said area?

Hi,

 

Maybe it's already said in a previous post, but there is something that is missing in all presentations of all AI mods that need a userconfig file.

 

It concern the fact that we must activate the File Patching in the launcher or the shortcuts to be able to really use the mod functions correctly.

 

For example, it's not specified in the ASR AI mod page, and we must search for knowing it.

But for those who don't know how to find this info, it's simply not good.

 

Maybe that must be specified for those who asking themselves why the options they configured in the userconfig are not effective ingame ?

Your best bet would be to go to the release thread which is linked on the download page of the mod in question, the author could tell you why something

dont work or something isn't effective, best give details too as to what your dealing with, the list here only compiles info of all mods, scripts, and AI related threads,

which im planning sometime to update.

Yep, but like you listed them all, it can be usefull to add this little info that can help users.

 

Because before going to download the AI mod, they surely come here to get info about what mods exists.

So, adding this info here can be usefull for those who read the topic about AI Mods, after that, they can use this info when they see that the mod they used contain a userconfig file and already know how to solved the issue if they encounter it.

 

Some modders have a really bad reaction when we report them some issues or giving them some ideas.

 

It's not because I only mentioned ASR that it's the only mod to have this issue. If we can call this an "issue".

 

And like I don't test all the AI mods, adding this info on a topic that listed them all seems to be a good idea.

 

But it's your topic, and it's your choice, and I only give a suggestion  :)

Idk if i will be updating or working on this thread anymore, after the forum update earlier this year which farked the whole thread over after year plus of work on it,

i lost my motivation to do anything with it, its sad i know but seriously look at the first page, its a freaking mess, using quotes, or code to try to condense or make the list

readable like i had it is a lost cause now, the forum dont want to work like that.

 

I dont need a reason to keep working on it, I need a new way to do it really, as the way it is I have no idea around it to condense it and make it functionally readable,

I mean its a massive long ass page right now, which i dont care for, now this thread is practically a lost cause.

I dont want to give it up, but i cant work with it, with its current bs limitations, the quote system sucks and the code part sucks now too, those mainly the code was what i

used before to keep each section of the 1st post organized, condensed and basically separated into their own spots.

i hate clutter, long lists, and mixed sections of text why i used code before, i like stuff distinct, compact, bulleted, right now the thread is a freaking clusterfuck of info which i did not create in it current form.

 

Anyways if anyone has ideas to help me keep this going, then please let me know, about what im really after.

Can you please point me to a way (mod etc) to monitor ai behaviour, such as waypoints, player detection and such. Ive seen such in videos and would like to test them myself. Im especially interested to see when they detect the player and how they react. On evideo was showing a freen dot turning to red once player was detected...

Hey Gunter, have you tried using spoiler tags? There's a 'special BBcode' button left of the font dropdown box. I don't remember how your thread was exactly but it was really helpful to me and presumably a lot of others.

 

I just copied and pasted your first post, then quickly added spoiler tags here to demonstrate. I don't know if this is elaborate enough for you as before but your thread is a great asset.

Edit: Along with spoiler tags, you could also create a new thread, make 'reserved' posts for a category and link to them using <thread link>#entry<post id> Here's an example linking to your post I quoted.

Quite a good work you have there :)

 

But how about some "must have" section? To lift some best addons/scripts to the top of the list? Cause now it's a very long list of so it's quite difficult to find out what content is actually good, not obselete and worth attention.

 

For example I need some not very complicated way to:

1. Spawn ai and make them attack certain area. I've used EOS for it with it's "bastion" mode, but maybe there are better ways?

2. Attackig AI  must clear buildings in the area

Best top addon/script imo is in the eye of the beholder, suggest read descriptions and see if theres anything that catches your eye based on what your trying to do.

My intentions with this thread was to take a well known, important subject, which theres alot of work done on it, discussions ect,. and put them all in one place for the community.
