All in Arma High Quality pack (AiA HQ) - Replacement addons for AiA

Well with RHS out, sudden´s, massi´s and AV_Ind units would be phased out... HSO SLA pack would be a better replacement than Kaelis (KAe mod is disabling non vanilla grenades and he´d put the mod on backburner so....) 3CB_BAF is doing a great job expanding what STALKERGB did (still using some of his addons and cnfig so STALKERGB UK stays) and has vehicles too, ACR is already in so is CAF_Aggressors and Reyhard´s A2 civvies (RDS A2 civies) for CIV replacement, right? Ohhh FEMAL3s should be in for the A2 female bug (it is better a girl face on a male body than a white buged distorted body or invisible on A2 campaign lol)

For vehicles, Burnes tanks are a must have (better than A2 vanilla cus have interiors lol), Ewoks HMMVVs, Chairborne AV-8B needs some tweaking cus it is preventing AiA SA to start, but it is a great port, so is his LAV-25 port too and Deltagamer´s Stryker pack are on top of my mind =)

Anxious for CUP, Alwarren (and whoever helped him) have done a great job so far!

I think Corporal_Lib[bR] covered just about everything though I would suggest that Aplion's ArmA 2 US Helicopters Import be replaced with the Overhaul version (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?181038-US-Helicopters-(HAFM-OVerhaul)-MOD) since Aplion has stepped aside.

Some of the Opfor choppers could be replaced with choppers from RHS or some of the other imports like Chairborne's Arma 2 Mi-8/Mi-17 Port (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?181588-Arma-2-Mi-8-Mi-17-Port).

My tanks BMPs, etc. from All in ARMA Standalone (18Gb) have no sound and the skin flowing like a stream on the tank /.\

How does this happen? Anyone who had this problem got a fix?

I am seeing a LOT of ported A2 vehicles over to A3 such as HAFM mods.

Icebreaker's ported Island Panthera

US Helicopters (HAFM Overhaul) Mod v2.0 for US Helicoptors

GPNVG-18 Panoramic Night Vision Goggles to replace night vision (this is now 2035 after all)

Burnes Armories - FV4034 Challenger 2 TES v7 alpha for the BAF UK tanks pack

Afghan National Army v1.0 for Takistan Army

Combat Space Enhancement for ACE module dependencies? I'm not even sure if this is even possible let alone part of AiA but there are a lot of classic ACE missions out there.

Gorka Uniforms v1.3 Russian replacements

Leights OPFOR Pack v0.1 Takistan Army and Chedaki replacements but is dependant on RHS Escalation

Mil Mi-24 Hind v0.1 for Hinds

If there was a list of stock A2/CO units that have not been ported or replacement configs available, it would be easier to advise.

Lastly, the civilians for some reason seems to spawn the same guy? Its not random enough or perhaps it a limit of the mission scripts/engine at spawning different groups?

Pretty much agree here and yes, F3MAL3s is important to have! I would love a config that can randomly insert female units into basic ARMY or MARINE or Nato units. Would be fantastic for to have random female resistance fighters or rebels as well (such as the real world Kurds).

New version available in PWS and the file section. See first post.

Make sure to remove the old version first.

Basically just syncs with the latest AiA SA version that uses CUP weapons as default now.

As I had to change the class inheritance for that, I had to

1) Remove JSRS - CUP weapons use JSRS sounds itself though

2) Updated weapon replacements - in case you prefer these over CUP weapons

3) Updated a few infantry replacements to work with their latest versions

Kju I'm using playwithsix to instal AiA and HQ pack. I decided I'll try the HQ pack again after I saw that it does not require massi's weapon pack anymore but sadly it still requires it.. Can you confirm this?

tl'dr

Unfortunately I have to announce the end of development and support on my behalf

for all AiA projects. If someone wants to take over, contact me/go for it (APL SA).

Reasons

I want to briefly outline the reasons in the following - mainly to give insights

to those donated money to me to get to understand the decision and situation, as

well as to those who care about the project and want to know what's going on.

For more context and background check this and that post.

In short it is simply financially not viable to continue - the various projects

(working for BI (A3 Rearmed, DayZ SA), SIX networks (withSIX), the different AiA

versions, Iron Front in Arma 2/3) were an attempt to fund the development of a

complex game mode for Arma 3.

Sadly all these attempts have been unsuccessful - by large margin. It was not even

enough to sustain the work on these projects, let alone to generate a surplus of

money to cross-finance the game mode. So I have no choice but to stop.

More details for those interested:

  • The effort behind all this is massive - even my deep insights into arma modding,
    my professional software engineering background, partial automation and use of
    advanced tools it still takes lots and lots of hours.
    While the modding alone takes much time due to the sub-bar level of the arma engine
    and tool set in regards to modding, there is also testing, release management, lots of
    user assistance, support and team communication.
    This is work for a regular full-time day job, which it has been for me for several
    months; or actually something for a team of people/professional company with paid
    staff.

  • Unfortunately there was just limited progress at the end of the year.
    The background here is I invested almost two months to assist the CUP team to
    get the first release out, trying to improve the collaborative setup for the team
    and to handle all the inquiries to join the project after Dslyecxi's promo video -
    meaning lots of 1-to-1 communication.
    As side note sadly not much has come out of this - partially due lack of leadership,
    giving people instructions or work to be done, yet overall its very challenging to
    find dedicated people..

  • With BI shifting priorities during A3 development and as a result no longer improving
    backwards compatibility of the engine and the work on A3 Rearmed getting stopped,
    it made it very hard to make AiA an usable platform.
    As we can see over a year later since the source model release, its a very time
    intensive progress with only very few people up for the challenge (major kudos to
    Reyhard, Alwarren, Varanon, Chairborne and a few others).
    Sadly even despite fairly popular support BI could not get convinced to put
    more resources into improving backwards compatibility of the engine. At least
    much thanks to Dwarden and pettka trying their best!

  • Donations and patreon didn't work out - you can read more about the outcome here.

  • To do is a hobby is not longer viable for me - I have been modding ofp and
    arma for almost ten years; like many others, I have put many many thousands of
    hours into promoting, playing, modding to improve this game and environment
    around it.
    With one difference - most people have moved on or have given up a long time ago.
    Only very few people remain by now - their dedication, skills, sharing and work
    is essential to this community. With more and more stopping the impact will be
    felt (actually is for quite some time if one looks closely or talks to people
    outside this forum..).
    Arma is just too much of an obscure and poor environment for modding (official
    tools, workflow, custom scripting language, engine limitations, etc) and the lack
    of backwards compatibility in A3 that makes most of the previous community made
    content obsolete or very labersome and tedious to port over. It seems most
    people have not realized these effects, or have accepted to what is available
    or the old crowd are no longer playing anyway..
    For me personally I haven't been playing Arma for over 3 years, except for a short
    time in some competitions during A3 alpha.
    This is mainly due to my arms injury and having to dedicate computer time to
    modding over playing, yet also as the PvP scene broke down finally completely
    after A3 alpha and my team, as well as many others, are not happy with the A3
    gameplay and performance..

Future of the projects

So what does this mean for the AiA projects - basically there are these options:

  • As all projects are open source and APL SA someone else could take over.
    The complexity, scale and overall effort makes this quite a challenge though.
    In case someone is really up for it, I will try to upload all my WIP data to shared host.

  • Eventually AiA might get superseded by CUP (or other projects) and become obsolete.

  • AiA goes into hibernation eventually going defunct by one of the patches from BI
    (unless someone else makes a third party fix).

Unfortunately it didn't work out in the end, yet I hope you are happy with what

I was able to achieve. Again my full appreciation to your support!

Personal future

I will keep this very brief.

  1. CUP
    The current plan is to support them still until the end of the month to ensure
    a smooth transition.

  2. IFA3
    Unless BI, X1 and DS get their act together to make a DLC for A3 possible,
    I will only be able to assist the IFA3 team by building the patches; other than
    that they are on their own from now on.
    .
  3. Game mode
    In case I still find a way to fund the development, I might give it a final try.
    .
  4. Arma modding
    Aside from the above my time with arma has come to a close. Good times, bad times.
    Time for the next chapter.

I understand this is no longer supported but maybe someone else on here could help? When I use the OPFOR units from the High Quality pack, they seem to have permanent muzzle flashes on. (I noticed this is AK's and Bizons) Is there a way to fix this?

Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody had a fix for:

Addon 'AiA_CharacterItems' requires addon 'AiA_BaseConfig_F'

AiA_BaseConfig_F.pbo is present, as is the bisign

The game will launch, but it messes up my main menu, making the client unusable. I understand the mod is no longer supported but any/all help appreciated!

My friend found a fix.

Changing the order in which your addons are launched fixes it:

I set mine so that CBA came first, then the rest of the AiA requirements with AiA actual coming last. No more error messages :)

As for the AiA Baseconfig error, if you make sure in your launcher that @AllInArmaStandalone is listed last, and the prerequisites are listed in a sensible order (ie, CBA first, then rails, then CUP, then AiA), then it should work. I had the same problem and it's now fixed

Guys I'm a little bit confused and not that familiar with A3.. So the AiA standalone includes the maps plus Units from A2? So i basically need that, cup weapons, joint rails and that's it?? What about that High quality pack?? I really like to check out the old stuff in A3, cause now I finally got a computer that can run it :) .. Pretty sad that you stop working on it
