RVMAT Issue on My Model

Recommended Posts

I have created RVMATS for some of my interior walls, floors. Exterior walls etc. But I'm getting one big issue. The RVMAT or depth of the material that's applied to the texture only works when in complete direction of the light source (I.E. The Sun). Removing my shadowvolume LOD half helps, but I need to edit the RVmat so it works with it.

Anyway here is an example:

http://pastebin.com/RELdngff - RVMAT file.

Photos of what's occuring:

http://i.imgur.com/W9yHW4p.jpg - Upper Wall, Both sides are using the RVMAT, but the right side of wall is only showing the material applied.

Another example when shadowvolume lod removed:

http://i.imgur.com/eL3QIL0.jpg - Lower wall (under the side skirts, the wooden panel boards) - Ride side showing the material left side doesn't. RVMAT is applied to both.

----

As I turn the building each wall will eventually show the material relative to where the sun is. How can I fix this. What needs to be added/changed in my RVmat file?

I have created the NOHQ using the nvidia tools in photoshop. I have created the SMDI texture in texview using the template.

Cheers, Matt.

Ok So I have changed it to Supershader. It has "NEARLY" solved the issue of the material. It now appears

on most of the walls but except a few (relative to where the building is rotated in Buldozer, as in not always the same wall).

Here is the new RVMAT.

And a pic of the issue (Contains text of issue on picture):

Also how do I fix the Specular power? Cause when I changed some values by trial and error. It stopped showing the material on some walls but I need to lower the glossiness somehow.

Thanks for the input, I'd appreciate more feedback.

Cheers.

you forgot to add stage 6 and 7, fresnel and enviroment map reflections.

Specular power value can be changed in rvmat file and to reduce gloss effect try to darken specular map G channel.

Ok here is a picture of what is happening:

RVMAT: http://pastebin.com/mUWbpBnK

I have added stage 6 and 7. I tweaked the Specular Power trying to reduce it but I lose the desired effect (look at the image I showed for which effect I want on all walls). I changed the G value in the Specular, but for some reason all values needed to be changed otherwise i get Reg or Blue showing on the walls, this has helped to reduce the glossiness.

Am i just terrible with rvmats :(

On that wall without effect shines no light, so there are no normal or specular effect applied.

House interiors without windows or doors are always in shadow.

Is there anyway to force the Normal map to show some 3d Effect rather than none at all with no light? Because it looks pretty stupid having one side of the wall looking like paint and the other side that looks like it has aged etc.

You should bake some ambient occlusion in the diffuse texture rather than try to abuse normal maps for something they aren't intended for.

Oh so the Ambient Occlusion AKA Ambient Shadows (AS) texture. I'll have a look into them. Cheers.
