ArmA 3 : RESIST

Recommended Posts

I know - I quite liked that, in a weird way. He just doesn't seem to care! lol! Cool as ice, Mr. Romeo. Seriously though, if I get enough hate mail about it though, I'll recast the role. Thanks Lexx!

In fact, if you don't want to vote, support, or subscribe to Resist, email another Arma3 screenshot, and tell me why you're not interested! In a nice way, though, please! I'll still enter you in the prize draw.

Cool idea, but will you ship that stuff to the other side of the planet if you have to? oO

European winners are no problem but think of a scientist who's researching at the south pole and has nothing better to do than playing Resist all day to make the perfect screenshot. I mean, it could happen! Or even an astronaut on the ISS... :D

Lol - I know! But I'll take it on the chin! I'll put your name in the hat, Pete. Just because you're the man.

Will there be an actual hat or is it just a British saying? In any case, I'm honored! :)

Ha! Well, I do have a hat to put the entries in - so it could be a little more than a crazy British idiom!

Oh damn, you mean a hat to put names in and then pick some people! I feel really dumb now. Though a classic British Gentleman's hat with a little Resist badge on it as a prize would be quite awesome...

Did the mission today and it was pretty awesome. Really well done intro graphics and whatnot. Hopefully we'll be able to get to know the characters a bit more and delve into a deeper plot that I thought was missing with East Wind. I never really cared about Kerry in the same way that I'd be totally blown if Master Chief or Solid Snake died.

Glad you enjoyed it, TheEvanCat - character development is pretty high on the agenda. The final mission in the Resist campaign explores Coleridge a bit more. And throughout the campaign, there are a lot of snippets allowing insights into his character. Plus, there's Mikhalis Drakon, who you'll be meeting soon (check out the teaser trailer)...

That AAF Zamak in the beginning is a bit strange, though. Shouldn't there be at least two or three AAF soldiers around? On my second playthrough I walked over there after the explosion and there was pretty much nothing. So I took the truck and used it to get over the mountain. Also, the two (or three?) AAF soldiers that came running over the hill didn't cared about me when I was in the truck. No idea if that was luck or something else. Maybe I was just too far away and they didn't noticed me being Blufor.

Yes - thanks for bringing that to my attention Lexx - that truck needs to be locked, anyhow. I was at a bit of a loss to know what to do with the driver of the Zamak, truth be told. In the end, I made him vanish after the explosion - player assuming he does a bunk. I felt that was the realistic decision, personally.

To be honest, another thing is, I hate the disembarking animations, they really ruin immersion for me. I was going to have him exit the truck and leg it. But, to see the AI appear outside the cab, without the door opening or anything - just kinda, bugs me. :) Again, thanks for bringing it to my attention Lexx - it's on the official changes list!

One of the accomplishments so far that I'm most pleased with are the whiteboard textures. They might be easily missed in-game, so here's a screenshot. Each one of these bad boys takes about 3-4 hours to knock together on photoshop - but the end result is worth it, I think. Don't worry - I'm focused on the gameplay guys, promise!

This whiteboard helps shed some light on the AAF's perspective of the incident at the beginning of Survive

If anyone has any ideas regarding ways in which I might promote the campaign, please give me a shout! So far, I've got the big three covered; YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter... but all this social networking malarkey's new to me!

You can start a blog for it!

I'd say those three are enough, but you could try the Armaholic forums and Google+. A blog is also a good idea, as AtinAkiri suggested.

Has anyone noticed what happens if you remain idle on Road's End for too long? I'm planning on running a new idle dialogue for every mission :p

I was waiting for a minute or so because you told me about the idle dialog but it never came up. How is it triggered exactly?

Should get the character giving some dialogue if you avoid pressing any keys for a few minutes :)

Just played Road's End and I've got to say it was really good. Loved the atmosphere and the little touches where wounded guys talk. Voice acting was impressive as well. The only thing I might say is that it seems a bit odd the AAF truck at the beginning just sits there, even if just the driver jumped out it would seem to make sense. That is pretty minor though. Look forward to seeing more from you.

A very nice start Kydoimos, looking forward for the rest. Nothing major but still, a few comments:

1. Voice acting is, to my opinion, mediocre. First, there are different levels of sound quality between the voice actors. It's a serious immersion killer when it sounds like a... recording, and a low quality one. The primary voice actor doesn't sound like a guy that just lost his two friends and is attacked by a force that was lately an ally.

2. The two guys at the kill house seem to have the same face. If the faces are randomized, I recommend you fix them to something to your choosing to avoid cases where two guys that stand next to one another look like identical twins.

3. The AAF chopper that is calling you is a great touch! I suggest you move it a little bit closer to enhance its impact.

@Jona33 - hi, thanks ever so much for the feedback! Yes, to be honest, there was no animations for AI leaving vehicles when I started the mission - but now there is! So will certainly add that in with the next update! Glad you enjoyed it!

@Variable - thanks, pleased you enjoyed the mission and thanks for the feedback! Voice acting - yes, to be honest - I've received overwhelmingly positive comments in this respect but - I take your point. In a perfect world, I'd have a studio! I've taken onboard what you've said. Point 2 - nicely spotted. I'll sort that! Point 3 - wilco, that! Thanks again, mate!
