Rob 1 Posted September 14, 2002 BUFFALO, New York (CNN) -- At least two of five men arrested in a Buffalo suburb received weapons training at an al Qaeda camp in Afghanistan, federal officials said. The five men were arraigned in U.S. District Court Saturday on charges of providing material support to terrorists. They face up to 15 years in prison, said Deputy U.S. Attorney General Larry Thompson. The government entered not guilty pleas on the men's behalf because, at the time, none had legal counsel. Three of the men had obtained counsel by Saturday evening. "The United States law enforcement has identified, investigated and disrupted an al Qaeda-trained terrorist cell on American soil," Thompson said. The men are being held at the federal detention center in Batavia, New York, until a Wednesday bond hearing.
