NATO Rapid Response Forces - Georgia

13073710474_1849ce8579_n.jpg

Background:

In 2013 Georgia decided to commit elements of it's military into the NATO Response Force. Signing the agreement in 2015 it became very active in peacekeeping operations around the globe as military and humanitarian crisis continued spreading inexorably in the following years. Involvment in direct military confrontations is reported yet officialy denied. During the Iranian expansion covering all of Turkey and numerous border wars with all three South Caucasian states the Iranian forces have ceased hostile activities in that region as they didn't achieve any success. The frontline being stable, Georgia sends bitterly needed reinforcements into Altis to relief the battle weary NATO troops. The small yet highly experienced and professional force consists of primary cadre reconnaissance and special ops teams, some hastily airborned Rangers and a batallion of peacekeepers who have the task to protect strategic objectives. Due to the still strained situation at home at the borders, the supplies and reinforcements are naturaly very limited.

so .... any feedback, negative or positive is welcome and appreciated, especialy from the people who have downloaded it so I can adress issues for future updates if there are any. ;)

From early requests, future update will include some more familiar weaponry used as of these days and if the community wishes, I'll also work on some 2008 stuff.

I havent tried the mod yet, but Im just stating my mind on why people havent been giving feedback so early after release. Reskin mods are getting old. Yes, its a great way to start with as a first mod, but so far there has been data sources, information and tools released into the wild for modders giving them the ability to make/port their own content instead of just re-modifying the same, limited content A3 has now. Modders are moving onto bigger and better things to implement new stuff that isnt present in A3 - guns, vehicles, aircrafts, even infantry gear like vests and helmets. Do you have any unique content planned that will separate the Georgians from others e.g. guns, vehicles? With this, Im sure you'd get a bigger and better reception from the community, because as you may have noticed, we like new stuff. Please dont take this in the wrong way, Im just simply giving my 2c away and encouraging you that the possibilities with this mod is far greater than what it is now. :)

Well that ain't true at all. Most addons are retextures so far and they get a lot of reputation and feedback. ARMA 3 simply offers way more diverstiy than ARMA 2 and you can still make a good addon with given content without creating totaly new stuff and also the content I chose reflects how it is in real life currently, for most part that is. Check out the pictures which I base my addon on. Yes it's true what you say and I'd certainly spend more time in modelling weapons etc if some people are willing to help out but as for now, I'm working alone and doing something like this alone is very time consuming. So as for now this is all I can offer and hope you enjoy it. Yet as said, most addons are made this way too as you see. Thank you for your opnion. :)

I also got allready convinced to include some ARs and maybe also AKs in the next update.

I for one have been hoping for a Georgia addon in Arma 3 ever since playing them in Arma 2. My opinion would be that there are a lot of other addons that can be reskinned and added to this faction to expand it, such as the UH-1 Venom, Mi-8, the Mi-24 Hind, the Su-25 Frogfoot, and perhaps a reskinned T100 tank from the CSAT side. Most of the mentioned addons have already been ported by other modders, so they would just need reskins.

As for weapons, it would be cool to see an army with a mix of both East and West weapons, like the Takistani army had in Arma 2.

In short, I think this mod will be popular with players wanting a faction that utilizes both East, West, and Independent weapons and vehicles, and keep up the good work!

Thank you very much ! well, you see the thing is the GAF is heavily transforming right now and trying to fully adapt to the West, using only Western weapons and even their own domestic military designs/products like vehicles, equipment, weapons etc are based mostly on the West in exception of artillery. ( See pictures in main post ) They also announced to replace their soviet airforce inventory with western one allready in 2014. But if you people want me to include pre-2014 ( such as 2008 ) units then I consider doing so in future. But for now I'm trying to be up to date and 2025. I've also planned to do my fav unit next :)

Tried it a bit in the editor. Pretty accurate for a retexture, though I think that you should draw a clear line between 2014 and 2025-2035 units/gear (since INDFOR-style helmets and vests most likely will be obsolete for the Georgian army in 2025). Notes: That black-and-gold flag looks familiar, but I don't recall seeing it in use as a flag patch, it seems that Georgian soldiers use subdued (in Multicam colours) national flags mostly. I have an impression that Tavors are in use by Ministry of Interior, while Georgian Army personnel prefers M4s. 1911 retexture is too much black and white to my eyes. For vehicles I would suggest you to consider Slammer for the role of GAF MBT and Marid for the role of GAF WIFV, in view of previous Georgian cooperation with Israeli and Turkish defence firms.

Thank you for the constructive feedback Corvinus. Very good reminder with the Marid ( Ejder ). This will indeed be included in the next update. Yeah about those old helmets etc. You are right, but I currently have problems finding an alternative. The protection level is significantly better than the original one though. Yep Tavor is used by MIA mostly, but there is the possibility that exports from Israel increase in future. That's why I didn't see any alternative.

About shoulder patch:

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7368/13116790015_14753c9c5e_o.jpg

all most likely based on main emlbem

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4d/EMBLEM4.jpg

For light infantry, I will do multiam flags in future.

The pistol is based on, though I will adress the White issue:

Glad to be of help.

Yeah about those old helmets etc. You are right, but I currently have problems finding an alternative.

I think the solution can be very simple: to have "Light Infantry 2014" - 1, 2, and "Light Infantry 2025" - 1, 2.

Thank you Sonsalt6! :)

I'm thinking about a personal concept for SF units which would fit to the period of 2025-2030 and are not based on 2014. You decide !

I have some things I like about the mod and some things I dislike, I would like to share. It is not meant to force you to make these things or to insult your mod for Arma 3. Just my opinions.

Things I Like:

-Infantry Textures

-Compatibility With VAS

-APC+TANK Textures

-Realistic Weapons For Soldiers.

-Flags on uniforms, lets everyone know who you are!

Things I Dislike:

-All units are rifleman, So a medic unit cannot fully heal his/her comrades and engineer's cannot repair vehicles

-With VAS all of the attachment variants of the weapons show up, maybe just limit the M4A1 and have the attatchments added as an extra

Suggestions:

-Texture The T-72 that Reyhard has ported over to Arma 3. Or maybe the T-100 since its the future.

-Since its the future you can retexture the Panther Nato IFV to look like the Lazika IFV ifvlazika.jpg

-SU-25 Aircraft but that may be a bit too old since its the future, there is a new CSAT jet that may fit in well coming out with the WIN episode.

-Speaking of the WIN episode there are new CSAT Trucks that may fit in well also?

-MI-48 Kayman and the PO-30 or WY-55 Hellcat's may fit in well as helicopters for a future Georgian Army.

These are just idea's I have. I have 0 knowledge in porting over arma 2 items or re texturing in arma 3 so please forgive me if these are impossible. I really enjoy using your mod its a nice change from the regular USA vs East.

Keep up the great work!

Just tried the update - everything looks and works fine. There's only one subject I can think of - perhaps it would make more sense for regular infantry of 2014 to use INDFOR uniforms (I'm talking about INDFOR commander's uniform in particular here), but that's completely optional.

Or maybe the T-100 since its the future.

...

-Speaking of the WIN episode there are new CSAT Trucks that may fit in well also?

-MI-48 Kayman and the PO-30...

I'm sorry to barge in, but these vehicles won't fit IMO, since they are (supposedly) Russian made.

could you perhaps provide a retextured T72 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgian_Land_Forces#Armoured_vehicles Really the Mk is overused in mods.

Well in case of Georgia, Merkava makes sense becaue there in fact was a request for 200 Merkava tanks, but the Israelis refused the deal because of pressure from the Russian Federation and as long as there are no fitting T-72 models, I can't simply add The M ones. I'll need something like this:

http://media.englishrussia.com/newimages//armygeorgiaseptember11-9.jpg ( T-72Sim1 )

and

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-f5Sh3G273nI/T8E0CGiexSI/AAAAAAAAAT4/Mjleo9IuXkA/s912/IMG_9921.JPG ( T-72B )

Thank you very much for the feedback and suggestions BagPiperGuy. I will take care about those soldier roles in future, next update will have that fixed. Hm I didn't test the VAS yet, but I get the problem. Only bad thing about that idea is that people will complain there are no fixed variants you can just grab without wasting a minute on attaching all the stuff. I will think about it though.

So far it are only T-72M's afaik and they haven't been used anymore since 2007. The last one was modified in that year. I will definitly include T-72 if someone ports or creates the T-72 B / AV / Sim1 variants and maybe also T-84 ( as future fictional deal with Ukraine ).

About panther, I think that's a bit too obvious it ain't the Lazika no matter how much you texture it ;) I think a model based on the CSAT Tigris would be a better decision, but it requires lots of moddeling experience and time I cannot afford to waste right now :/

I will definitly add the Black Hawk since the GAF is replacing all but it's Su-25s with western aircraft since 2014. Now you probably notice the problem here with including the Kayman. ;)

what about replacemant configuration for units?

Thanks Otarius-big !

What do you mean with replacement config ? this is not a replacement addon, it adds new units. There are two configs you can choose from. One with and the other without using Robert Hammers M4s.
