Vice News (Dispatch Zero-Zero-Seven :))

Look like Simon get arrested/obtained, not 100% sure yet. (lesson to learn: don't ask everyone you meet for passport :) specially when you have 2 passports yourself)

Hope they will let him go soon...

"He was not kidnapped, no one is holding him, he is now in the SBU, prepares new material" - said Ponomarev.

Arrested by whom?
Self defence forces in Slavyansk kidnapped American journalist.
It is noted that the press conference was briefly interrupted, parents of the journalist called by phone to Ponomarev, leader of Slavyansk militia assured that their son is all right.
"He was not kidnapped, no one is holding him, he is now in the SBU, prepares new material" - said Ponomarev.

It's in that article.

Simon Ostrovsky â€@SimonOstrovsky Apr 21

Now he's not letting reporters leave the press conference: "you'll go as you came in. In a group." That's one way to guarantee coverage.

Look like his not been held after all. But little bet of "self-advertisement" always help.

To me that's a pretty sad news, even if instead of kidnapped he has just been held and threaten. Journalist ( no matter color nor politic orientation ) should be allowed to do their job. That's to protect one of the most essential rights, freedom of expression.

Said that to be a journalist and specially in that kind of situations always have its risks. I personally like his kind of approach, asking the questions people don't want to be asked, but it has its downside ( in my case I would avoid some of the situations he got, involved, or at least go in low profile ).

If proven, to me that kind of attitudes just make me think worst of the violent armed insurgents.basically they are acting like terrorists.

( BBC ) Ukraine alert as politician 'killed'

Ukraine's acting president has ordered the relaunch of military operations against pro-Russian militants in the east after two men, one a local politician, were "tortured to death".

Oleksandr Turchynov said the body of politician Vladimir Rybak was found near rebel-held Sloviansk.

"The terrorists who effectively took the whole Donetsk region hostage have now gone too far," he said.

Yep I did, and also did some research on my side, it's still unclear what happened, the tweet AKM74 posted is from more than a day ago. In Vice News haven't said anything new, ergo...

Well, you have to think that they are really minority groups ( both sides ), although they are not rare in most of the countries of the EU. It's a symptom of bad integration policies and immigration.

And in this video you haven't seen much. Google for the Stockholm immigration riots, or in France to say some examples. Also in Spain I remember some riots in El Ejido.

Yeah, i came across those guys when i was in London a couple of years ago (i even took a few pictures of them), they were shouting "Sharia to France" in front of the French embassy. They are a handful of excited guys (and women), Londoners were shocked to hear them shout this. I never saw that in France, i'm not sure the French law would permit that.

So called "separatists" identified. Mostly Russo-Cossak import, some of them like swastikas too.

Well some of these pictures are very questionable. Although I do think that russian cossacks are very much involved in this whole mess. Political tourists they call them.

You Russian houd really take a look at this whole Cossak thing. They are ultra nationalists, basically faschists (oh the irony) and your government grants them police rights....

About the photos, here is a nice article from the BBC: What the 'Russian soldier' photos say

What comes across from the photos is that at least one unit of heavily armed, well-equipped, pro-Russian paramilitaries has been operating in the Donetsk region.

But it cannot be said for sure that they are actual Russian special forces, as the Ukrainians argue. At the same time, the idea that they might be a local militia from Donetsk is belied by their apparent military professionalism.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week there were "no Russian units, special services or instructors in the east of Ukraine" but such denials of military involvement ring hollow for many after Russia's covert actions in Crimea, especially after he subsequently admitted troops had operated there.

Without using photos, Gen Philip Breedlove, Nato's commander in Europe, argued convincingly last week that they must be "Russian forces".

That said, theoretically, the paramilitaries in the photos could be ex-servicemen from Russia or elsewhere. Military veterans of the Soviet war in Afghanistan have been active on both the nationalist side in Ukraine and in patriotic groups in Russia.

( BBC ) US runs the show in Kiev, says Sergei Lavrov

The US is "running the show" in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

Mr Lavrov told Russia Today it was "quite telling" that Kiev had re-launched its anti-terror operation against pro-Russian gunmen during a visit by US Vice-President Joe Biden.

Kiev and the West say Moscow commands the gunmen - claims denied by Russia.

Pretty sure they'd build a wall against Russia regarding Muslim extremists.

See, here in the West, there's a smaller number of them demanding this and that. Then there's Chechnya, a Russian republic. In Chechnya, Sharia law is definitely in place, and the current Chechnyan president openly defends honour killings.

You Russian houd really take a look at this whole Cossak thing. They are ultra nationalists, basically faschists (oh the irony) and your government grants them police rights....

(English wiki) Cossacks (Ukrainian: козакиÌ, koza'ky; Russian: ÐºÐ°Ð·Ð°ÐºÐ¸Ì [kÉ™zÉ'kʲi] or казаÌки [kÉ'zakʲi], kazaki), are a group of predominantly East Slavic people who became known as members of democratic, semi-military communities,[1] predominantly located in Ukraine and in Southern Russia.

I don´t even know who that is, but it is also irrelevant since the cossacks of today are a bit different from the historical ones.

Just look at what the cossack groups actually do, what their aims and beliefs are and what powers they are suddenly given. Ultra nationalist fashists.
