You really believe this? I´ll tell you something. If this thing gets legalized, then Croatia has the right, no, according to the Russians even the duty to march it´s military into the Herzegovina and take it back into Croatia. I guess this wouldn´t be very nice for your allies the Serbians.

You don´t realize that many of Russias allies can be affected by something like this. Maybe even Russia itself. I don´t know how many Chinese live in the border regions in Russia, but maybe it is enough for China to "protect" them

Well, it certainly means Chechnya ought to become an independent state any day now. Russia supported Crimean independence because of a 50% Russian population. Chechnya has a 95% Chechnyan population, and less than a 2% Russian population, so I'd say it's pretty obvious what should happen according to the latest Russian philosophy.

Probably hunting rifles, but even if they were RPGs and AK74s, its just an internal Ukraine security matter.

I don't believe that the mighty Russian Armed Forces are afraid of a bunch of right wing freaks. And don't compare them with nazis, first because their support is not the same, the economy of Ukraine and of Germany are slightly different. And obviously Ukraine has never planed to invade Russia ( unlike Russia that invaded part of Ukraine ).

Your eastern neighbor, the US, has even paramilitary associations with people with machine-guns and assault rifles... And haven't tried to invade you...

"CIA misled on interrogation program, Senate report says"

A report by the Senate Intelligence Committee concludes that the CIA misled the government and the public about aspects of its brutal interrogation program for years — concealing details about the severity of its methods, overstating the significance of plots and prisoners, and taking credit for critical pieces of intelligence that detainees had in fact surrendered before they were subjected to harsh techniques.

Opinion of prof. Markowski about Ukraine

I once read a wise appeal of the Ukrainian intellectual, who said most of you have no idea what he is talking about, just shut up. And there was a moment that we all become experts from Ukraine. The second thing is that as people are dying, you have to weigh the words - explained sociologist of Social Psychology and Sciences,
- I am critical of both sides of the conflict. After 20 years of experience with a completely unsuccessful attempts to democratize the country, both political elites and citizens should first of all to answer the question why none of the six presidents totally not proven, the basic rules of the game, the rule of law, just did not work - emphasized Markowski .
- I do not foresee in the near future that could emerge in Ukraine constant, stable, liberal democracy. There is no basis for this. Liberal democracy can happen, but as an accident, as a miracle. - Believes sociologist.
- Lack of Enlightenment tradition, no culture of the contract, feeling that a community, not the individual, is the basis of order - Markowski explained the cause of the collapse and the reasons for which building a fair democracy will be very difficult.
- We are used to that indiscriminately condemn the authority that the government must be accountable. That's true, but in order to account for the authority, you must have a responsible citizen. Even in Poland is not so well with this - Markowski explained.

German foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier not see prospects of Ukraine's accession to NATO.

«I can imagine the form of more intensive cooperation with Ukraine in the framework of the Council, the NATO - Ukraine. But do not see the possibility of NATO membership», - said Steinmeier, noting that this was his personal opinion.

"I don't see [however] any path leading towards NATO membership," Mr. Steinmeier said during a news conference, adding that this is his personal opinion and not an official German government line.

8 Questions on Ukraine

Why did the U.S. and the West cry "unconstitutional foul" on the vote in the Crimean parliament to reunite with Russia, while endorsing and abetting the overthrow of an elected president in Kiev.
Why do similar double standards prevail in our approach to self-determination? Kosovo was historically linked to Serbia, yet we invoked the secessionist right of the Albanian majority. Crimea is historically Russian -- a 200-year history dating back to Catherine the Great...
Why does the West not understand that threats do not work with Putin's Russia?
Why have the U.S. and the West rejected outright the tripartite EU-Russia-Ukraine solution tentatively advanced by Russia that would avoid the zero-sum choice forcing Ukraine into an us-versus- them cul-de-sac? This is basically what was proposed by former defense and foreign ministers of Russia, Poland and Britain three months ago.

Ukraine intends to sue Russia for international tribunals in connection with the annexation of the Crimea - announced in Brussels, the head of the Ukrainian Andriy Deszczyca diplomacy. He added that his country hopes to regain the Crimea
- We consider Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine and we plan to bring before the international tribunals lawsuits against Russia and Russian actions in Crimea - Deszczyca said after a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission in Brussels.

http://wiadomosci.onet.pl/swiat/przerazajace-statystyki-dot-rosji-putin-chcialby-zeby-nikt-o-nich-nie-slyszal/rxlz4

Russians prefer to live in an alternate reality - says the magazine "Vanity Fair" and cites horrifying statistics about contemporary Russia, which is a country of old men. The author Maureen Orth suggests that the annexation of the Crimea by Vladimir Putin could be part of a desperate attempt to save the health of the state.
According to the article, after several days of annexation of the Crimea, Russians are once again very proud of their country. A solid majority - 63 percent. society - claims that Russia has shown a "great power". The study also showed that Putin now enjoys 80 percent support.
25 percent of Russian men die before the age of 55. Many of alcoholism and violent deaths. Published as a book " Political vodka ," in which the author explains that vodka is used by the dictators, czars as a means of social control. Cheap vodka and cigarettes were among the first products available on the free market communism . 77 percent of children aged 15-17 regularly drink vodka , but in rural areas this percentage may be as high as 90 percent.

In turn, Russia has more heroin addicts than any other country . It covers also top positions in the rankings severe diseases .

When it comes to the environment, it turned out that 50 percent of the water in Russia is not suitable for drinking. Air pollution is still a major problem , suggesting that the solutions proposed in the late USSR still dominate . Then the Russian health minister said that the country is breathing less to live longer.

It is a kind of desperation , from which Putin is trying to offload his people.

Perhaps not very convincing conclusion, but anyway its terrible picture. Understandable, so Russians want to forget, be blinded, hypnotized by shining "great power" (sounds pathetic somehow...) to feel better. Russia really should direct its efforts and resources to inside, not outside, for the sake of own population to care about it, not wave in front of his eyes a distaraction of imperial ambitions. One of the biggest countries on the world and still claim, its vital for it to take from far smaller Ukraine a bite of land. Sad.

Why not? Poland also is winning from time to time something, but this doesn't mean, so alcoholism isn't "national problem" of Poles. Seems, that the more for Russians, and not only alcoholism, but wasn't said, so all have such problem or all is bad. Was said, so there are deep and wide problems. Isn't that true? I think, Russia has enough millions of people to gather great team of sportsmen regardless.

You are welcome. Travel to evil empire. With bloody KGB on each corner. Unforgettable. :SpiningDemon:

And ofcourse our NKVD troops sing songs on radio only about Lenin, Stalin and Putin.

So travel. It's more useful than read tons of news about another universe.

P.S. Sry for offtop.
