Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) is looking for an experienced programmer with C++ and C# skills to develop applications and plugins for use in VBS (Virtual Battle Space) and Unity3d for simulation-based training to work from our Williamtown office in NSW, Australia.

BISim is a world leader in providing simulation technologies and integrated training solutions for military and civilian organizations around the globe. With origins in the gaming industry. We have successfully exploited game-based technology with stunning visuals and applied this to a range of breakthrough, military-specific simulation products. With clients in dozens of countries, and development studios in Australia, the Czech Republic, United States and United Kingdom, BISim maintains a truly global focus.

The scope of this role includes creating and maintaining applications and plugins, communicating with external development teams, management and maintenance of legacy code, and collaboration with designers. This role also contains a customer support element, and candidates are expected to occasionally provide face-to-face and email support to customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Design/development of applications and plugins for both the VBS and Unity engines
  • Communicate with international programming teams to understand current products and those in development
  • Provide customer support for programming related queries

Objectives

  • Work across all aspects of the software development cycle, including architecture, implementation, debugging, documentation, and maintenance
  • Understand, and brief the local team on programming developments in external teams
  • Meet established deadlines

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of OOP and IPC
  • Ability to design own solutions for complicated simulation problems
  • Ability to analyse and update existing code
  • Self-reliance and reliability
  • Ability to work in small teams
  • Good communicator

Education & Experience

  • Technical university degree (Bachelor of Software Engineering or similar)
  • 3 or more years’ experience in C++ and C# .NET programming
  • Computer games or game-based simulations are an advantage
  • Preferable experience in using Unity3d and/or VBS2/ArmA
  • Preferable experience in mobile app development
  • Preferable experience in the Defence and/or Mining and Resources industries
  • Preferable experience working in an agile development environment
