Bingo Fuel

Recommended Posts

WATCH OUT FOR SPOILERS!!!

In this mission, we're supposed to steal a fuel truck.

When we got it, we have the choice: either give it to the FIA or to Miller for him to kill an enemy officer.

However, in another mission, when we're supposed to return to Stratis, the guy at the beginning drop us before the village cause he hasn't enough fuel.

Moreover, Falcon (Miller) tells us that there are enemys in the village, and there shouldn't be here if Miller's team managed to kill the officer.

It's fucked up, because if we delivered the fuel to Miller, then the officer they talk about is dead and they shouldn't be enemies in the village, OR we delivered the fuel to the FIA - and in that case, our driver SHOULD have enough fuel.

So, whatever we do in mission Bingo Fuel, it's look like nothing happened.

It was supposed to be corrected in dev branch when I reported it in dev. discussion, but has it been fixed in stable branch too?

I don't know. What I do know is that there is a third outcome where

you kill the officer yourself and deliver the fuel to Stavrou.

yeah, I read something about that.

Where can I find him?

Find who? The officer?

He's in the Ifrit in the middle of the convoy I think. The convoy route is marked on the map.

I found out a very adaptive way to play this mission tonight...

It's possible to commandeer an AAF MBT in this mission. You need to bring explosive or AT launcher from armory, run to the highway while avoiding detection. Soon there will be a tank drive by without escort. Blow it's track and kill the crews. Then go to the hill on the south west (has an AAF marker on it), there should be a repair truck. (and an enemy IFV guarding it). Steal the truck and you know the rest...

Yeah, I did it, but later in the campaign, it's like I delivered the fuel but didn't kill the officer.

Lol, well done.

I didn't know there was a repair truck somewhere around.

I usually destroy the MBT with one well-placed rocket

Even better: when Miller tells me there is a HVT somewhere around, if I decide to take him out myself (and succeed), he tells me that the HVT is dead.

Then, I can give the fuel truck to the FIA - and pass both objectives.

But in the later mission, (when we're supposed to return to Stratis), the enemies are still there - and Miller tells me we should have taken the officer out.

Weird, later mission Miller told me that it's good that HVT is dead, and AAF is running like headless chicken.

maybe it has been updated.

but in the stable branch, I did manage to kill the HVT (destroy the mrap with missile - Miller confrmed I killed him) and delivered the fuel to the FIA.

So both objectives have been achieved.

but atfer, in the other mission, the quad driver stopped at the entrance of the city and told me there were too many enemies to continue; Miller told me to avoid them and it was my fault, because the officer hadn't been killed etc...

I killed the HVT but didn't deliver the fuel, but Miller still says that the HVT is not dead!

Yea this part seems weird. I delivered the fuel to Miller so he is supposed to have killed the officer with it. But on the mission where I try to reach the boat they tell me there would be less ennemy if the officer was dead.

I wonder if Miller is covertly working for CSAT.

I guess we will know in the third episode.

The "Cistern" mission, the one where you have to steal the fuel truck, I found impossible.

I tried stealthy approaches from the east and south east alike and spent hours trying and re-trying. I skipped the mission in the end, it was just way too hard :(

I find it highly interesting how far the experiences with this mission stretch out. Some people find it extremely hard, while others say it's super easy.

I liked the mission a lot and it's actually one of my favourites. Though, I am not exactly sure why that is so. Would guess because of the atmosphere in the whole mission, and the enemy placement.

I was having hard time until I figured out that you can drop AI fast in CQB with 5.56 if you use it on full auto. It may be no brainer for some but this is first time in Arma series that I really needed to use full auto.

Anyway, there is an issue with either this mission or "Within Reach". Stable version: 1.14

-Cleared "Highway" and gathered the rest of the squad.

-Disabled patrolling tank with satchel and repaired it.

-Cleared AO using tank and put rest of my team in AAF repair truck and later in FIA fuel truck. I refueled FIA fuel truck at gas station on "Highway".

-Sent fuel and repair trucks to wait near hideout.

-Cleared the area around CSAT fuel truck and then drove it to Miller. He said he has it from there. (I noticed that if I sent FIA fuel truck closer to CSAT one it just got destroyed without anyone shooting at it).

-Objective updated to go to hideout and that is what I did.

In "Within Reach" Miller says that HVT was not killed.

So FIA ended up with no fuel and HVT alive. It doesnt seem to work as intended.

I think you actually have to wait until the CSAT officer bites the dust before the objective gets marked as complete, which means you need to wait for about ~10 minutes before Miller's CTRG guys blow the truck. It's kind of sloppy on BIS' end to not immediately mark it as complete when you had the truck over though.

Alternatively, you can wait till the convoy travels through the town and then blow up the officer's Ifrit with a Titan (one of the AAF troops at the depot has one) or lock-on with a PCML yourself.

No, I killed the officer myself and it still didn't count for the next mission.

I got the same issue... Got the tanker to Miller's guy. On the "Within Reach" mission, it got considered as if the officer was still alive and the fuel was not delivered... I'm on the stable branch. Next time I try the mission, I'll do it in Dev. branch to see if it is a bug only present in the stable branch. I'll be back with news once I'm done. Standby.

I completed the second campaign around a month ago and there was a difference, at least in dialouge. In BINGO FUEL I killed the officer myself and delivered the truck to the rebels. The quad guy said it's too dangerous to proceed further (he didn't mention fuel) and Miller said that with the HVT dead, enemy forces are 'running around like headless chickens'

Hello

I've got back into OFP recently after my decrepit computer was replaced so now I can run the Arma series. They're all fantastic!

However, I do have a problem with this mission, in that it won't end for me. As far as I can tell I've completed everything and I'm in the right place to complete it, but nothing's happening (see screenshot).

2014_05_05_00004.jpg

I've....

-Found the first cistern

-Gone to the second and taken that to Miller's man

-Blown up the HVT (although not the APCs escorting them - could this be the problem?)

-Gone to the hideout with the remainder of my squad

I can hear sporadic gunfire in the distance (towards the first depot I think), but I'm pretty sure I've done everything needed - anyone know how to get it to complete so I can move on to the next mission? I tried using the shift + minus key OFP endmission cheat but it didn't work, any other ideas?

Cheers

EDIT: Nevermind, used the wrong minus key (not numpad's before), managed to get the mission to end now!

Not too hard at all. Why it only took me.....49 attempts. (I'm rubbish - plus I just spent 6 months playing nothing but Battlefield 4 (so I'm stupid, too). :D

That was over about 3 sessions. Great mission if you don't mind pulling your own hair out - the hardest too, least until the last one in chapter 2.

I used the same approach as you. I took out the guards in the storage depot immediately bellow the factory, rearmed RPGs at the parked Ifrit - which I needed to take out the Ifrit which comes to investigate. THe Ifrik always managed to find my team. I ended up sneaking to the fuel truck alone, sending the rest of the team towards the tank on the hill.

I was mostly down to me being very determined not to lose any men. And it didn't help that I had to restart twice. One time, I managed to walk into a locked cargo container and couldn't get out. Still, for all the cussing and hair pulling, this game can be amazing.

how do you guys kill the HVT? if I wait for him, the convoy takes too long and Miller says I failed to bring him the truck, I if I go to the HVT it says I'm way too far from where I should be and I die. Should I wait for him, fail the mission, wait several minutes more then kill him and the mission failure becomes a sucess? I haven't tried the last one... but not sure If he ever comes. Maybe the mission was patched and now you can't do both.

You need to speed up in the main road in direction to Agios Dionysios, then you will see the convoy.

On my first play through of this mission, it took me 3.5 hours, on Recruit difficulty! It also took quite a few saves and loads, but I lost no people, and ended up commanding two FV720 IFV's and an unarmed Strider APC. while I got the HVT and the fuel delivery objectives.

My 4 guys started out with light weapons, and no AT gear. Even though I saw the APP-6 symbols for mechanized infantry and armor on the briefing map, it wasn't on the gear list, so I thought I'd have support like mortars or armor support of my own once I was in mission. I was thinking this was going to be one of those stealth missions where there'd be some diversion, or too much armor for one RPG to handle anyway. When none of that happened, I improvised. I decided to take a close look around since it was dark, all my guys had NVGs, and I didn't think I make it up against all that Armor with no Anti-Tank capability. Since I was all set up for stealth, I had a KRISS Vector w/ a silencer in my backpack, so I switched out my Katiba GL for the Vector, told my guys to wait, and dropped my pack. And took a walk around the perimeter of the AO. I came across a tank (well, Infantry Fighting Vehicle, not tank, but the game calls them tanks), just sitting on a hill top in southwest area of the AO, Just north of a repair truck. I killed the two infantry standing around that tank, then snuck up behind it and hit it with a explosive charge. To my surprise, it didn't kill the tank, but the crew jumped out. So I shot them. Then I saw the repair vehicle. So I had one tank in the bag. I drove that tank down to about where you start the mission and parked it. When I was scouting around the south east side of the AO, the most easterly AAF marker, I came across an empty Strider with a bunch of infantry standing around. So I killed them with the silenced vector, and took the APC. On my way back to my squad with the strider, I saw another tank driving it's route. After watching it's route a bit, I crippled this one with another explosive, even though I had an AT weapon by this time. I then, took the stider back to my guys, put my guys in the strider and hopped in the tank I captured previously, then went to the repair truck, put a guy in it, then went all the back to the 2nd crippled tank. Now I had just 4 guys and two tanks and an APC. So I rounded up the rest of the guys, just to fill the seats. Once I had all that armor up and running, clearing the place out was a breeze.

To get both the HVT and the fuel delivery: This is what I did in version 1.36.128579. Remember, I had two tanks, an APC, and 8 guys after hooking up with all the detachments in the AO. I left the construction site where you steal the fuel truck via the dirt road that runs northwest past Alikampos. I told the fuel truck driver, and the APC driver to stop when we passed by the turn off into the area where you are supposed to drop the fuel truck. I kept going north, passed the area where you originally tried to steal the empty fuel truck, all the way up to where the highway intersects with that dirt road, right in the center of Agios Dionysios at 0919 1583. Then I backed one of the FV720's to 0921 1578. The other tank I parked up the offset road at 0916 1584. I waited for a bit, and got a call from Miller. He was pissed off, and said something about snap decisions and not seeing the bigger picture. So that mission was "failed". I sped up time and waited some more. After a bit I heard faint engines, so I normalized time. It was probably a good 5 minutes after that call from Miller when the armored convoy rolled by and got chewed up by my ambush. After I killed the HVT, I called Miller and gloated about my awesome "snap decision". Then I had the fuel truck driver and the APC driver pull into the drop off are they were sitting just outside of, and the mission completed.
