Will using creative commons excluse me from winning?

Hello,

I want to use some sound effects that are licensed under creative commons. Creative commons states you cannot use them for a commercial purpose, which while I think releasing something for free as a mod would be OK, but submitting for a competition with a cash prize and the chance that bohemia might want to implement the winning content officially into their commercial project (Arma 3), would that break the license?

You could use them as placeholder sounds until the end if you want to find new sounds.

I don't think the participation in a contest should be regarded as a commercial activity, but it would be probably wise to ask the author of the sound effects and check the detailed text of the license. What kind of CC license is used in your case?

Just for information, if BI would plan to publish such addon, we would look closely into the use of 3rd-party works and assist in solving any possible IP issues. :)
