[WIP] USAF Air Asset MOD

Sounds awesome! I can't wait! Just curious about something.. in the OP you said you plan to have a walkable cargo bay in the C17 and C5.. Is that while the plane is landed? or also when its flying about in the air?.. Cause if we can move about in the cargo bay while in the air.. My god this will be the best thing to ever happen.

There is simply no way to walk inside a plane while in the air unless its frozen there (using mission editing) and in this case cannot move anymore so yes only when landed. Arma logic FTW :/

Wasn't there a ship that came out for arma 3 that allowed you to walk on the deck while the ship is moving..? Couldn't the same logic be applied to the cargo bay? :(

I believe this is a ShipX only physic but i could be mistaken. Then again i dont know much about modding so i cant really confirm.

Unfortunately this isn't the case; if you're thinking of Gnat's Sea Fighter (Fast Sea Frame), it's got the same limitation (that's been reported several times) as mankyle's USS Independence (LCS 2) did: for walking on the deck while the ship is moving we'd need "appropriate friction while moving" applied to whatever is moving atop an also-moving surface, but that isn't the case for any vehicle class -- characters included -- except helicopters, and even with landed helicopters you have a situation where they're treated as moving at the same speed as the ship instead of being at speed 0 km/h relative to the ship's deck, so for example a character can't "get out" but rather only "eject".

I would recommend everyone who is posting about moving in cargo to read this thread if you have not already done so:

Chortles statement is correct in regards to the helicopter being the only vehicle that will stick to moving geometry by default. This can only be "fixed" by BI as it is hardcoded in the engine.

But that does not necessarily mean that its not scriptable.

In the linked thread there is proof of concept of such a script that attaches a soldier to a vehicle whilst at the same time allowing for movement. So far it has been demonstrated working on a ship and on top of a HMETT, with only a couple of minor issues.

In regards to moving in cargo of a moving plane there unfortunately is a big issue. If a soldier goes above 100m above ground level he goes into a freefall animation.

Hey guys 31 January was the last time I have you info..we have been working very hard and tommrow I will show you so more WIP pics as soon as I get off work..there might be one or two videos in there displaying a feature on the c-17 that was asked for..it is WIP obviously but otherwise works and looks good. Anyways have to get in the bed stay tuned..info should be up around or before 7 est.

Hey team..unfortunately i wont be able to provide that video for you tonite but i will get it for you..instead i am showing you some WIP screens from the fan favorite AC-130U. Screens are work in progress. This AC-130U is in cooperating DMM Jones's AC-130X autopilot script for those guys who just want to jump in and fly to the fight and provide CAS without having to have a team go with you. Thank you RavenDK for allowing me to port and modify his creation. More screens coming. I also am introducing some combat units with custom patches. They are based on real world Security Forces my careerfield in the Air Force with this addon and when we go for alpha release i will be changing the name from Airforce Air Asset Mod to just United States Air Force. Thank you SP Craig for his wonderful skills for making the units possible and thank you massi for allowing me to utilize his weapons package for the units. Im letting you know we come bare lol so they are coming with a set of weapons that we actually use day to day and downrange. I know most were looking for more updates on the C-17 in due time..Im pushing for an alpha soon so again please bare with me. Before all the comments start flooding in about the Units. I know people are going to look at the Ranger Tab. ***NOTE: Security Forces who go to ranger school especially the 820th SFS (look them up) are authorized to wear the tab downrange..depending on the commander of course. (Some SFS Commanders do not authorize it..Most do!!)

Great to see how this mod is progressing m8. Am particularly interested in seeing whats in the works for the ground aspects of the USAF. Perhaps even a PJ unit along with their Pavehawks - Of course Im talking about the Pedro choppers and they're crew from the series: Inside Combat Rescue. :p

That's not a bad idea for a future project once we get these planes pushed out to the masses..thanks for the idea

+1 on this. I would love to see some of 21st century stuf in A3 :) heheh Cant wait for this planes man... Altis is soo big even for helicopters to fly over it :D

Youre right, but unfortunaetly, Desktop is pretty much gone. We havent heard from him since a very, very long time ago :/

Do you have for objective to add nuclear bomb for the Spirit ?

The Arma 2 spirit had 4 nukes... considering hes using the same model... i assume yes xD but Altis will be no more after lol

Desktop was making a C-17 back in 2010 this model nor the mlods have nothing to do with him at all just FYI

Hey, that mod looks awesome. Actually I can't wait to use it with my clan. The B-2 is such a great plane.

I know as a creator this question is annoying as hell, but is there a way you could tell us when we are able to snoop into it. ;P (You don't have to answer if you don't want to ^^ I would understand that!)

Were making progress and hope to have a release late Feb-early Mar. We just want to make sure that things are the way we want them to be. Were not only releasing planes..were also releasing USAF pilots and my Unit Security Forces. The units are done..so majority of our time is on the planes but the AC-130 alone takes alot of time with the issues were having atm with the camera angles..then were still looking for a master texture someone who is going to bring beauty to these already beautiful planes. The C-17's scripts are being handled and once those are done we will transfer those to the C-5 with the exception of the troop transport and it will be done. The B-2 is pretty much done peral is just finalizing the cockpit. KC-135 is just waiting on one script and it will be done. So just stay tuned were moving as quickly as we can..but also managing our lives. SP Craig is also hard at work making sure the units are packed correctly and sexy to give you guys a authentic USAF feel. All of the work will come full fold soon enough :)

I'm not sure I speak for everyone, but I know its been said before. I don't mind waiting 5 or 6 months on a mod if it means both the developers is happy, and the community is happy with the release. Honestly the beautifull thing about modding is that you can take all the time you want and don't have any major obligaltions.
