Tunø, Denmark (Island WIP)

Current status:

January 19th 2014.

Okay I give up... for now. Everything I do at the moment does not help myself. I have reinstalled A3, BIS Tools, Arma Tools from Steam, Did a fresh P:\ with Arma3P 1.6. Everything I do is 2 steps back as I now miss some clutter as well, A3 building objects are too low into the ground giving me bad positions. I then adjust them in Visitor to the correct height -> binarize the island -> and they're still stuck in the same position.

It's probably me who's the bad guy here, as I don't fully understand and comprehend everything that goes on in Visitor and the configs.. For the past 1½ month I've faced so many faults and errors with this project, that I have decided to put it to a hold.. at least until V4 comes out or something else magically happens to this. With so many things going negative and so little positively, it's just not worth my time currently.

I want to thanks all the guys who tried to help me with this. But as of now it seems like the terrain building aspect of Arma has claimed yet another victim. My problems are described here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?168242-Various-problems-with-A3-terrain-making

Tunø is a small island of about 3.5 km2 located in Denmark:

I've decided to build this island for several purposes. First of all I wanted to experience what it takes to make a full on ready island for the Arma environment. At the same time I wanted to do a Danish island since I'm from DK myself and hey: Why not! Since I'm aiming to make a larger terrain in the future to serve as a good combined arms terrain, I needed to figure out the basic stuff first. This island of Tunø (pronounced kind of like Tuna %a + "ur" in hurt) is definitely focused on infantery + light vehicles battles due to its small size. On the other side, due to this small size I'm currently trying to make it very detailed and want it to be a good combination between realism and playability.

Btw, shouldn't the ø sound like the swedish ö? ( something like a mixture of e and o )

Cant wait for this looks very nice however id rather catch the ferry to this one as the runway seems "just abit" bumpy :D

Nice!! Is there anyway you can change the water to some more 'Northern' type of water? I think there was a mod or something that changed the water colour etc or someone managed to do which go well for this island.

Yeah you're thinking about a more greenish tone in the water? Yeah that's a thing I tried changing but it doesn't seems to work properly for me... yet. But it's still a thing to tweak.

Yes I'm planning on doing Bornholm later actually! But that's another battle to fight later on.

Now it's all about getting this baby finished :) Working on importing some custom objects for the moment. ... Back to work :)

Looks nice and since I'm often in Denmark I would love to play this map. Are you going to use some danish signs ? Are all the tools released by BIS so you can build a map?

Looks awesome, even though the buildings seem a bit odd for denmark... but I guess you cant do much about it unless you find someone who is able to make a few, right? I'm really looking forward to it!

Yeah my skills in modelling objects is almost non-existent and I find it a very steep learning curve with that unfortunately :/

About signs. Actually Tunø has no public roads and no cars apparently! So signs is something I've added for the immersion only. Maybe I can borrow some from the German terrain makers' with permission and alter it to the danish colors of mostly red/white and blue road signs.

I love the textures and the feel of the island. I feel like i can go have a vacation there. Absolutely beautiful. Keep up the great work.

This doesn't look good, it looks freaking amazing! I can't wait to have a go at flying around this. Very much looking forward to your release. It's great to see that there are skilled people working on terrain!

Nej! I'm afraid you are wrong.

I've been doing a bit of phonologic research, and I was right both danish ø and swedish ö share the same sound /ø/ in most of the words.

Going back to topic, OP it's lovely that you are thinking of doing other islands, at least one. Tack!

That would be a massive project, but incredibly cool. It would mostly need the buildings though! Where is that vegetation from by the way? That looks pretty damn good. Doesn't look like it's from Altis though. A2 packages?

The nature is mix of A3,A2 and Summer Plants mod. So the island will just need the new @A3MP and @Sum_ad... to work.

Now, you can go back to discussing how to pronounce ø ;)
