tbh Tup we haven't touched war-room since I stopped being main admin on the public. So no we're not running it at the moment.

HOWEVER i'm keen to learn about all the improvements and indeed the new server performance gadgets - ASM is good and we use it religiously to test stability etc, but if you can build on that then brilliant.

More to the point I've given the other units enough of a headstart... time to regain our No.1 slot for kills etc... ;-)

I'll have a chat with Apollo and as soon as you're ready with the hotfix we can try and give it a go.

Does anyone know if the latest update to Sahrani A3 has affected the indexing of it?

Was considering renting a server for optimal experience... but I'm a bit lost with all the offers. What would be the best cost/performance renting option in Europe (living in France) for playing alone or with one or two friends using persistency and War Room ?

Vilayer or NFO Servers has done good with friends of mine from Europe. You could even opt for a Virtual Machine which could decrease performance a tiny bit but you can definitely get what you need at a great price.

Thanks. Another noob question, what's the difference between a "gaming server" and a "virtual server" ? And in term of CPU/RAM what should I be aiming for ?

A gaming server will usually only give you access to a control panel and that's it.

A virtual server will give you access to a dedicated box with usually Windows Server 2008 but you are running your OS on a virtual box. So in other words, the hardware you are using is being shared by some unknown amount of people.

A dedicated server/server box will give you access to the box and no one else will share the box with you.

As far as hardware, all you probably need in your situation, is a processor better than an i-7 2600K with at least 8GB of ram. You should be set.

*Note: Arma 3 only uses one core when operating so just keep that in mind when looking for a server. That is why it is best to take advantage of headless client when you can so you can off-load and use more than one core.

It seems like insurgency mission bundled with alive does not color zones... was working in 0.9.5.

0.9.6, crashes are still here.

I traced the problem.

At first, i spawned ~500 units near base (i was using insurgency as example).

Killed them with choppers. All ok, no crashes.

Then i started creating units at big cities.

_it seems_ (i cannot say exactly) than when N amount of units hits the small radius, server (no matter win / linux) crashes. I can reproduce it again and again.

To check everything, i created mission with ~1000 bots in city and fired it up with same modset on server several times. No crashes. To further test it, i removed any mod but ALiVE and performed same test with spawning unit in city (using zeus btw).

Aaaaand crashed!

Testing was performed on isla duala map, but we had similar crashes on altis even on windows client-server.

So potential candidates for crash:

1)Arma 3 server (reproduced same / bigger amount of enemies in editor. No crashes)

2)ALiVE.

3)Insurgency mission. Do we have any other ALiVE-based mission with unit generation?

Is there any other ways i can help with tracing that problem

yeah, the TRACE parameter switched to NONE from SOLID in the module (CQB one). just change it back.

Quite a few errors relating to the In game mission generator I think - (we don't normally use it, just wanted to see if it would run properly)

had them as well, they disappeared after I fucked around in the modules' parameters and removed all the extra faction overrides, I'm not sure this is to blame, but changing the faction options in AI skill, mil placement (both), CQB (all) and mil AI commander fixed it for me. (as a possible clue, AAF guerrilla would show up as OPFOR in the Zeus overlay for some reason, that also got "fixed" -- they stopped showing up for Zeus completely)

We are not seeing crashes in any of the tests we are doing and you are the only person so far to report crash issues.

Be aware that to do so we've had to unlock all copilot and any door gunner "turrets", so player can now kick AI out and occupy those positions. With AI being too dumb to reoccupy them afterwards you need to be careful if you still want them to be able to be able to shoot. A fringe benefit is that players can now take over as copilot, take control, fly the chopper, then hand control back to the AI. This may or may not be a good thing ;)

After the update something weird happened to our server, and i have a couple of questions. I would love it if i could hear some devs opinions on them. Everything was running fine on our persistent mission before the update.

The problem is that after the update happened the AI no longer patrols and instead they stand still after they spawn even when bullets starts flying, the CQB does not spawn any units in buildings, roadblocks are not spawned properly (or at all), but civilians work just fine.

I have some possible causes, but i was wondering which one you think is most plausible. The server version is currently 0.9.5.1502221 while the clients run 0.9.6.1509031, because our hosting service won't let us update manually and instead we got to wait for them to update the mod for us. Would this have something do to with my problems? The other possible cause is that i made some changes to the mission after we initially launched it, but i did not make any changes to the modules nor the pbo files name. I just added some markers and some vehicle repair scripts. Would this mess things up like this? I know for a fact that persistence work, because our advanced markers are still there, and towns we have cleared out are still empty.

Having trouble getting Sahrani A3 to work with the ALiVE War Room.. might just be me failing to follow the instructions and I accidentally missed something out but does anyone know if Sahrani A3 is definetly working with the War Room?

The A3 version isn't on the War Room yet.
