A "Guild" function for multiplayer

This game needs more than "water mode" a clan/platoon/guild function. I already said this here and still fell the need...

Something that people would be part of and specialize in a area, just like MMO( I'm not asking an MMO, I'm saying this organization works) you have the tanker(armored vehicle), the range guy(sniper), the mage(uav operator?) and the thief(silencer) and so on...

What you guys think?

Well I might be mistaken in what you mean exactly but if you're just talking about designated slots for players, then this something that is already possible depending on the user who made the mission. Just like how on some COOP multiplayer games you have designated open slots: Pilot, Gunner, Driver, Gunner, Commander, Squad Leader, Team Leader, AutoRifleman, Assistant, Grenadier, Rifleman, and Explosive specialist.

I was hoping this thread was talking about making a way for groups to find and join games together and fight on the same team. That's what I think the multiplayer section really needs.

From my wishlist on page 213 of the Wishes and Ideas - No Discussion...

2. Parties, Squads, SOMETHING!: PARTIES- There should be some way you can link up with friends in the server list and all join a game together with the assurance that you’ll all be in the same squad…WITHOUT having to join an empty server! (Like how WARFRAME does it.) Perhaps in the actual game lobby there could also be a little box next to your name that you could click if you don’t mind being moved to a different squad and position when a party wishes to join your team and play together. Maybe a little box would pop up in the corner and say something like, “A party has joined your team. You have been moved to Delta Squad – Grenadier.†SQUADS – I really think that creating squads should be left up to the players in game since only about a quarter of players on public servers actually stay and work together with the squad they’re in. Allowing players to create squads would also eliminate the notorious headless squad…Plenty of Indians but no chief… If you create a squad you are the squad leader. Now I know some are going to be up in arms and screaming that is isn’t BF3 or COD but that’s not a valid argument in this case. Creating squads lets players choose to work together and it gives the Squad leader a good idea of who he can count on, none of this wasting time hoping your squad mate won’t go off and do his own thing never to return again. We need to weed out the faint hearted by realistic gameplay, not forcing groups who work well together to split up.

If you mean having a "party" of people join a certain server (with the available slots) at the same time then its an idea I could live with. However, if you mean shooting fire and ice etc from your fingertips then no.

That would be a serious waste of time, space, and money where bis could be working on something more useful to the game -- such as content, optimization, and bug fixes...

This is not an mmo, this is a server by server that is populated by users, not the game publishers. Try playing on the JTF2 server or finding a clan that does it's own operations.

I don't even get how you can wrap your head around that mindset about a tank being armored and crap like that lol.... You're not fighting some endgame boss on wow, you're playing a wargame that's as simple as point and click.

No. Each mission has certain designated role assigned by the mission creator. If you want to restrict people to certain roles of the mission, you can do it like those milsim groups and assign each member of the unit to a certain role they're trained in. Having this "mmo" system restrict mission and modding design.

what do we need more, then puting a clan tag, beyond the nick? On wasteland you can creat a group/guild whatever you call it, and there is your guild feature. On various coop missions, usually are many group slots avaible, your guild can take them as well, and operate together.
