Arma 3 CPU vs RAM performance comparison 1600-2133= up to 15% FPS gain

Recommended Posts

thanks for the reply st.jimmy - however the person giving the advice was the PC salesman so he couldn't run the bench himself - however he did direct me to the below bench not for games but for other applications - which the 5820 did ok for......

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1549?vs=1320

however from what I am reading the 6700 is on balance a little better in games "on average" than the 4790 and 5820 if its using fast ddr4 memory - although have not seen any benches tests particularly testing ARMA3 - although he also pointed out that my current intended 6700 build would use all available 6700 pci (e) slots 20 I think which he didn't think was a good idea?(note the build has a m2 ssd and sli so there is not even room for a standalone sound card - although the asus hero motherboard seems to have an on board sound....

Here's how 5820K does in Arma 3 http://www.hardware.fr/articles/924-15/jeux-3d-crysis-3-arma-iii.html those are likely run without OC so 4790K and 5820K are likely even at the same clocks. There's also not any real difference yet between high speed DDR3 and DDR4 as you can read from the few last pages.

st.jimmy thanks found one on the same site with the 6700 - interestingly 6700 looks to very well on ARMA3 but strangely 5820 beats it on total war! - looks they is no oc......also looks like on x planes the 6700 is ahead as well - but don't really know why?

Arma and X Planes are games that are mostly depend on single core performance (if the game is a sim, that's how it very likely id) so multiple slower cores/threads don't help as much. As you can see 5820 is runnin @ 3,6GHz and 6700 @ 4,2GHz in those tests so it lacks that behind. When basically Arma 3 fps rises 1fps per 0.1GHz we could say 5820 is about 4fps behind the 6700 if they'd be run at the same clocks.
