Performance seems improved. Difficult to put a figure on, but when dipping into the mid 30s FPS on the client it still felt very smooth.

Your logs are looking good, except at the end there are some fallbacks to small pages. Caused by fragmentation, but not a big problem.

Maybe we discussed this already in an earlier thread, but i still think, that putting a swapfile in RAM disk is not really a good idea.

You have 16GB RAM and there should be normally nearly no access to the swapfile. I would give the 4GB back to the OS memory pool.

However, the easiest way to find this confirmed, is to try it out :)

BTW: There is a new "tbbmalloc for arma" version out.

@Numrollen, thanks for your feedback and log file.

The first line in your log, tells us, that the "lock pages in memory" privileg is NOT set for the user account you use to start arma.

SeLockMemoryPrivilege: denied, huge pages disabled

To get the whole advantage of tbbmalloc, please read the readme.md for info how to grant this privileg correctly.

Only if your system has no fast SSD, a RAM disk for the whole arma addon folder probably can help a bit.

I will look into it. Its not on an SSD, medium speed HDD. also 3 servers are running on this machine, one is mostly on idle. I have enough ram, would be cool to setup an RAM Disk and also use more Ram.

@NoPOW, thanks for your logs (full logs upto process shutdown, would be better).

Allocation timings listed in your logs are still impressing (win 8.1).

Slow map loading is not related to custom allocator (just switch back to default allocator to verify this).

My experience is that the first load is always very slow and the second a lot faster (all data loaded in section object based cache).

Been trying to use the new version but having some issues. When I go to launch with the new tbmalloc.dll I get an error popup about the dll.

Once I click OK on the error, the server actually launches, but I assume it's not using the new allocator.

Here's the basic machine specs: Win7 Pro x64, i5-3570K @ 4.2Ghz, 16 GB RAM, SSD for game/OS data. I've also made sure the both the launcher (Tophe's) and arma3server.exe are set to run as administrator and set the lock pages local policy for both admin and the account I'm logged onto the machine.

Finally I'm launching the latest performance binary build (233780) of A3 server with "-malloc=tbbmalloc -maxMem=8184 -nologs". Since the new allocator doesn't appear to start I'm not getting any logs to post.

Why are you running the tbbmalloc from there? Put it directly in the arma3 directory. Then call it from -malloc=tbbmalloc commandline. I'm also confused to the maxmem ... I thought the max was 2047.

Yeah, according to the gitHub page, it's supposed to get dumped in the dll folder. I tried moving it into the root folder as well with the same result.

As for maxMem, it's confusing to me as well as I've seen multiple people saying different things about it. I have the memory, so I figured I might as well dump as much in the maxMem switch as possible and if the engine limits it in some way, so be it. :)

the file goes into \DLL\ directory inside A3 (butaso works inOA/TKOH/DayZ) directory ...

(in short where the other allocators are for each game located) ...

- handled access violation counter added to log statistic (should be always zero, but just in case)

- nolog version of binary added to github repository (the performance difference is very small)

I am still interested in logfiles from different systems/scenarios.

Especially logs from long running servers would be helpfull.

The current statistic line, at the end of the logfile, looks like this:

Well here is a complete pain. I obviously have been seeing a placebo effect! It turns out that I have 'SeLockMemoryPrivilege: denied, huge pages disabled'

Now I've searched on my win8.1 for Secpol.msc but it doesn't exist. Is there another way that I can force huge pages for Arma3 (even though Arma3 is already largeaddressaware)?

EDIT: Interestingly on my dedi server (win7) huge pages are enabled for the standalone server.exe so I should be OK.

Further EDIT: Ran my server with the latest tbbmalloc and got this '2993.394s: regAllocTotalDur: 202.995ms LOCstat: 87014/89435:97.3% TLSLeft: 1 handledAccessViolations: 0'
