Recommended Posts

Has anyone upgrade from 512mb ddr ram to 1 gig of ddr ram? Does is make a difference in this game?

I currently have 512mb of pc2100 ddr ram and considering adding more, perhaps another 512mb.

I don't think it will give much performance increase, unless you're using (very) high detail terrain combined with a large viewdistance.

This hasn't got much to do with OFP Troubleshooting, therefore moving to Off-Topic smile.gif

You said that res needs 384mb of RAM. I got 318mb and I'm getting the memory map thing practally constantly. Would adding 128mb RAM help that. I've deleted a lot of addons.

it worked for my system, though i never had that 'memory map' problem. but i also have only a few addons that gets loaded when i start OFP. I also have very small number of programs that are preloaded with Windows.

simple way would be opening that program, and then go through options to see if they have 'load at startup' option. if they have it, uncheck it.

otherwise, they have StartUp folder in ProgramFiles=>Startup.

take those programs down.(though you might want to take caution.)

Sytem information > tools > sytem configuration utility > start up. 'Explorer' and 'systray' are all you need to leave running wink.gif

Win98 won't utilise more than 512mb RAM I don't think win2K is any better. winXP is the one for higher than 512mb memory managment.

512 should be enough.

PS. you can also press 'Ctrl','Alt' and 'Delete' at the same time to bring up the 'Close Program' window...
