Come to THIS discussion and contribute.. we'll put something cool together.

An MP/COOP version would be just amazing mate !

What I have so far.. from the Workshop discussion:

IDEAS?: Close Air Support Squadron (MP)

I hope the userbase of SP CAS can help me come up with some ideas for the MP version. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

LOCATION:

- In Altis

- 10+ different task locations (need ideas)

UNITS (24):

(? or 48 if I add 24 for each side.. and make this true MP +AI.. opinions ?)

- 8 spots open for helo pilots

- 4 spots open for jet pilots

- 8 spots open for 2 squads of optional ground troops

- 3 repair specialists

- 1 spot open for JTACs

- (JTAC player can switch to any JTAC at any Task at any time)

RESPAWNABLE VEHICLES:

- 8 Attack Helos

- 3 MH9s (for repair specs)

- 2 Ghost Hawks

- 4 Fixed Wing Aircraft (2 AA, 2 CAS)

TASKS:

- Pure CAS

- Tank Busting

- Convoy Escort

- Troop Insertion

- Tasks are successful based on clearing all of other side from AO (smoke reveals)

- Tasks are failure based on your sides troops falling below 25% of original population at AO

- JTAC pumps smoke every 2min to reveal sides locations locations

TRIGGERING NEW TASKS (important, need ideas)

- Thinking about making a ready room where all pilots must be present before the next task will execute. Upon execution of task, there's a wall screen that shows stills of overview, with voice recordings giving briefing. QUESTION: Do you think requiring all pilots to be in ready room before next task will start is going to be a problem?

ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY IDEAS:

- Please provide any ideas, and if they don't belong in the above catagories I'll put them here.

^^ agree. Having some variation would be good. Pity we don't have any active sonar buoys or we could hunt the sub ;)

Whoever voted on the poll that the mission needs a lot of work, I do agree that it needs work, but I it would be helpful if you could post what should be done. I'd be grateful. I think you'll find that I'm responsive to bug reports and constructive criticism.

Don't take it to heart Shawn, Poll takers should exclude the top and bottom 5% of votes as these are usually posted by nutjobs and fanboi's. If you need assurance of how good your mission is, just look at your stats on Steam.

I love the ever living crap out of this mission. I can't think of a better way of learning to fly helicopters.

I am a complete ARMA noob, so please mind my stupidity. I got this game and downloaded this mission over the weekend. I have searched high and low but I cannot figure out how to use the radio to coordinate with STRATCOMM. How do I use the Radio menu so that I may be given assignments? I am trying to play this mission as the pilot. Any help is much appreciated.

If you're new to the Arma series, I would recommend playing through the Showcases first. It will decrease the learning curve of Arma greatly.

Start by pressing zero on the top of your keyboard, it should be obvious after that.

Thanks for the tip. I will try this out after work.

StrogHarm did you make any step forward with the script to make the chopper circle an area?

No, unfortunately I've been putting a lot of time into finding an Arma3 Division to join.

(right.. I know they call them clans.. but I don't like the holdover word from 1990s Quake II.. we're not in the Scottish Highlands heheh)

Could you script something to make the pilot turn 90° in either direction?

Yay!

Hey StrongHarm, searching for one of my mission I've found this:

http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=20740

The last post code works, even better if you customize the values, the only problem for me, it was that sometimes the chopper lose the waypoint and go too large etc, so I scrapped it from my mission, but you know scripting more than me, so maybe you can make it work better.

New patch on workshop.

- Added Hellcat (this is bugged, let copilot get in before startup or he may destroy your rotor)

- Fixes to bring CASd2 up to ARMA3 patch code

Dam that fun :D this mission made me wonder how the hell Afghanistan was dragged out for so long with the amount of tech we have.

Having deployed once there in Kunar Province I'll tell you that there's a lot of nooks and crannies that they have there, and it plays havoc with all those highfalutin' toys we employed. Rocks hold a lot of heat and therefore the thermal bloom at any time of the day makes it difficult to detect a human body on the terrain. That and there's something... special about visual acquisition. There's a lot of story but suffice to say that the terrain favors the home team on that one. And add the fact that the Taliban are crafty fuckers and shouldn't be considered stupid either.
