SMD_Assets Standalone PBO Release

Hello Again!

I've completed the config for the Skins/Assets that Pliskin did for our DayZ Sahrani Project.

Many folks showed interest so as promised here they are!

They include:

Some Goofier units as well including Magnum PI AH/MH skin I will forever be in love with.

This is my first config from head to toe, and am not an Arma centric modder, so may have missed some things for the config. Don't be shy if you let me know what needs fixing I'll have a look!

I've commented out a LOT of the skins for AH6J and MH6 models because they're not working, not sure why, but those two heli's only like wearing stock or Magnum PI skins.

This package no longer requires Vilas Police. BIG THANKS to Vilas!

I have added all of the Chernarus, and Sahrani Civilians which all now equip backpacks. There are also 5 Ghillie suit models that also show a backpack properly.

In addition to the Vilas sourced Units, Plisken retextured the Frost Character as well.

I have broken up this package into 3 parts:

1. smd_assets - Includes all the vehicles

2. smd_buildings - Includes all the smd_buildings, the Sahrani Misc Objects, AND our custom Misc Objects (WIP) as well as some objects from our DayZ mod which are not configured for the editor as yet.

3. smd_units - All the Character Units

This is an older video which does not show all the items, There are missions included in the downloads to quickly view the contents of the packages, with the exception of the smd_buildings mission/PBO, the missions are ALL for smd_sahrani_a2. The smd_buildings release has all the opened buildings placed on the NWAF on Chernarus. Here's a quick vid (whoops, was meant to be edited a bit but it's late):

The source for the buildings can be provided to terrain makes who need to integrate them into their terrains.

There IS a mission included that has the majority of the SMD buildings named and laid out on the NWAF runway.

this can be used for reference for mission makers/server hosts. It is a 3D Editor Beidi file So access it via Cntrl+E at the main menu screen

Yeah we are HUGE on making things available for ALL!!!

We will be moving all the source to a public github soon, so that anyone can use or modify the source as well.

Same goes for the buildings, but those are not quite ready for primetime yet. We're going to kind of circle the wagons and and get those polished off 100 percent and release them as a separate addon so other map makers can use them.

We enjoy doing stuff and things:

Thats Standard, M2, and MK18, There are also TOW versions I did not put down on the vid.

There are SUV skins as well, but much like the MH's I'm having problems getting them to stick? not sure if I'm just using the wrong base class or defining them wrong or what... will figure it out eventually.

Will be included in the next update. Maybe a week or two, might try to get some more stuff done and in.

Wow, got a PM today... super special secret guest star decided to do a bunch of our work for us! I LOVE that, it was going to be my next step as well which I love EVEN MORE!!!

SMD_Objects.pbo going to be added in the next week or so, it will include all the missing editor objects from A1, AND our DayZ Specific stuff that we've done like Duct Tape, Propane Tank (backyard bbq sized) brick etc.

not to be picky, as you guys do good work, but I noticed in your video in the first post, the UN on the UN C-130 is reversed on the planes left side.

C130 and UH1H have mirrored textures, so any text mirrors... RACS, UN, etc. we've requested the model from BI to do a "proper" one, but are not holding our breath on those ones...

Not sure there is much other options. We're new so we are always open to suggestions if anyone has any.

Sorry folks, been busy again, will get this all bundled up and re-updated.

I'm trying to make it work with the zombie unit's we've made as well for DayZ, but since it depends on DayZ it will give A2 folks errors... so if I can't figure it out, I'll just have to make 2 different versions. Don't want to give you guys error messages for silly zombie stuff... I might be able to get permission to package the zombie attributes with the package though, so people could use them for movies, missions etc, but not sure if that will get OK'd or not.

I've gotten the SUV's all sorted out. I have to button up this next DayZ Release, then will repackage the assets with all the new additions. Then the buildings... oi.

Have to apologize again for the delays here. My attention is being pulled in a lot of directions. I tend to get an update ready, then nit pick it to death and think about how to do it better... then I don't release it and start working on the newer idea.

Right now I have a more updated package with all the SLA units and SUV's and HMMWV's.

BUT, I am about to get all the units packed into it so there are no dependencies for the units, AND they will all be able to show backpacks equipped and be fully configured to throw and put (citizens were/are not currently).

Here's the citizens done, I just need to get in touch with Vilas to see what I'm doing wrong with his units:

I've created 2 sets of the civilians too, one straight port of Icewindo's units, and then some with some dirty/bloody clothing for our DayZ use, but they might be useful for editors in cinematics or something.

Once the models are all sorted out I will put out a new pack. Although if there's a lot of interest I can release what's ready now.

This is some fine work here. If it's possible when you have time to get the "Magnum, PI" helicopter skin ported over to A3, that would be fantastic. It's silly, I know, but I really want to make a shot-for-shot remake of the Magnum PI intro in ArmA 3 for a bit of fun, and having that skin available would be amazing.

I will update the information further tomorrow.

We have released a new smd_sahrani_a2 version, and with it a new smd_assets.pbo, new smd_buildings.pbo, and smd_units.pbo.

This ends any dependence on Vilas Police units. He was kind enough to share the source with us, and help guide me through the process of integrating the units.

He has requested that his units NOT be used in DayZ however. So server hosts/modders please take note, and respect his wishes.

I had a chance to check to see if the AH/MH's with the Magnum PI skins would work in A3 with AiA, and unfortunately it's the ONLY heli that is not taking it's hidden selections properly.

I will make sure this is addressed as soon as I can. I also have a huge soft spot for that skin.

I may just have Pliskin do the MH-9 from A3 in that skin for sake of ease. We will have to look at whether that's do-able or not. If not we will just use the AH/MH's from A2.

Wow, might have a package for A3 together sooner than I thought.

Pliskin's got the C130 and MH's pretty much done. He's tuning up the previously pictured A3 units as well.

I got 3 packages together for A3, 2 unit packages, and 1 vehicle package which for now is ONLY the Magnum PI Heli!
