Arma 2 display driver crash AMD Radeon HD 7770 Saphire

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me out?

Recently (nothing about my hardware has changed since I bought the PC), while running Arma 2 (launched through 6 updater) I have been having my display driver crash. Upon exiting Arma, I get the message "AMD display driver has stopped working but recovered successfully". After doing some research, I found out about the flush command, and that has been getting me through. But it is becoming extremely problematic while playing online with my friends, as it occurs more frequently there.

This is a very recent problem, and does not occur in any other game. I have used MSI Afterburner to track my CPU and GPU temps while playing, and my temps seem to top out at about 40c while playing arma.

I find that while playing solo missions it happens infrequently, but while playing with my friends it happens much more often. We all use the same exact mod presets, so I know its not being caused by any of my mods (my 3 friends have never had this issue). When playing with them online, sometimes it happens several times in a row (I.E. the game will freeze, I will use the flush command, go into receiving for 10 to 20 seconds, un-freeze, then IMEADIATELY crash once again).

The problem seems to have absolutely no consistency. Sometimes it will happen the instant I join the game, before any enemies have been spawned, and sometimes it will happen right in the heat of battle while fighting several enemies with bullets wizzing by and explosions going off. It happens while on foot, and in vehicles.

I have tried everything I can think of to track down and solve this problem, including re-installing my drivers (including completely removing Catalyst control and all other drivers, then doing a fresh reinstall), turning off any and all unnecessary background programs, including my firewall, running the PC in safe mode and doing an extensive virus and malware scan using two different anti virus programs, and tried running the game on minimal graphics settings. Nothing works.

Can anyone suggest a fix for this issue? The flush command works, but this is extremely irritating, especially while playing online with my friends, as it will happen several times within a 10 minute period, sometimes occurring several times in a row as stated above.
