A Large Fixed Wing transport aircraft for Arma 3

Recommended Posts

WIP, still a few issues in ArmA3

Attaching vehicles into the cargo works very well in SP.

No idea about AttachTo and MP.

Looks nice, with some texture work it could be awesome.

Awesome Gnat! But this thread is for a large transport fixed wing aircraft in the base game because I doubt there would be many servers using your excellent mods. Looking forward to it though.

Thats definitely a start...looks good Gnat. Hopefully it has flares as well (for those pesky AA missles).

I really want a large aircraft with turbines like a c-5 or c-17 globe. Hope it won't be a turboprop.

The A-400M is a greater vehicle. Refer to the videos I posted to see.

Don't take this the wrong way, I love the A-400M, but I just want to see a plane with turbine engines. I like the looks of them better. Makes it feel really modern. But most of turbine jets are pretty big and surely too big for BIS's tastes. Do you think there's a chance though?

Also, wouldn't it be cool to maybe see a C17 that has the capability to reverse thrust!!??

If you look at the previous posts in the thread, the A-400M can back up on its own like the C-17. The reason we are chatting a lot about the A-400M is it is the C-130's replacement in real life.

I've noticed lots of little airfields dotted around the Altis landscape. I've realised first hand (playing) how difficult it is to move heavy vehicles (eg. MBTs, SP Arty, etc) over long distances using the stuff currently in ARMA3 (ie. non existant). Normally to transport MBTs, etc long distances, they would use ships, trains, semi trailers or large cargo transport a/c eg. C17s, C5s, etc which ARMA3 currently doesn't have. When playing online on a domination server, where the AO moves to all 4 corners of the map, using these large supporting weapons is practically useless unless the AO is close to the main spawn point (ie. the airfield). We DEFINITELY need a largo cargo a/c to transport either an APC, MBT or SP Arty quickly.

A stealth STOL aircraft being concepted up by Lockheed.

1. It's a drawing board prototype just like the ghost hawk which means it fits right in to Arma 3

2. It's a STOL cargo plane, ie the same role as a C130

3. It looks fucking awesome

I want this.

drop the stealth..there's really no need for it, esp when the enemy AI isn't using radar and you're flying a black a/c in broad daylight (like the Ghosthawk). We just need something useful like a C17 or A400M or something.

The ghosthawk is not a drawing board prototype. It exists and was pieced together from the helicopter crash at Osama bin Laden's compound by experts and acknowledged by the Militery. They claim they about 2-4 ghosthawks right now that can be used for whatever the Militery wants. The Militery acknowledged it because people were asking questions and the operation had blown up in the media.

I was referring to the fact that no one knows exactly what the real ghost hawk actually looks like. I am well aware of its existence and use in the osama raid

No one knows exactly how it works but we do have a pretty good idea of how it looks.

Any links? Looks pretty cool but it does look like it´s sitting on something and it does not look like a wheel.

Old pics, and tell me this, how many guns have diamond shaped bullets currently?

We are taking about some advanced top secret helicopter here.

Wasn't this topic about "A Large Fixed Wing transport aircraft for Arma 3"?

I still think that A400 or a modernized C130 would make the point ( and a "Specter" armored version of it for CAS would be more than awesome ).

I ment in the the discussion of the ghosthawk but we are getting off topic from the thread here.

*faceplam*, those aren't gun barrels, those are pitot tubes, same as on the nighthawk:

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2001/09/images/detail_f117_06.jpg

when trying to sound clever goes wrong...

Except the ones on the Nighthawk don't have overly emphasised apertured (holes for those who think they are clever).

Explain to me how a low speed helicopter would need them BTW, I am listening?

It doesn't have aerodynamic anomalies that needs a computer to monitor every condition around it to prevent it falling out of the sky like the F117.

As for the Lockheed stealth transport aircraft (as much as I love it BTW), is it just me or will Lockheed sell the F35 no matter what.

Lets scale it(the F35) by ten, remove the rear VTOL engine and turn it into a cargo area instead, then the cockpit we will keep EXACTLY the same shape but pretend to turn it into a multi crew type by changing a canopy for a bubble cockpit with two windows(while keeping it EXACTLY the same shape and position) while also not even changing the engine intakes at all.

Hell we even managed to utilise the F35C wings, almost.

I actually believe that this transport is the one worthy of the F35 moniker and it will fare better than the multirole aircraft of the same name.

This video here shows the A-400M and shows quite a few of the in game vehicles being transported on it.

Watch the entire video then discuss it please. I'd sat from the video that this is the perfect aircraft for Arma 3 and would fit the story quite nicely.
