Dave Mustaine 10 Posted August 2, 2013 Hello. When I play Arma 2 or OA my game freezes randomly. The time between these freezes varies, sometimes it could be 10 seconds and sometimes i can play for 10-15 minutes without troubles. Those freezes last for about half a minute, but they really drive me wild, especially when i play multiplayer. My friends tell me that my character runs away and after the freezing is gone he rolls back. Windows 7 64 bit Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40 GHz 8GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 How can it be fixed? orcinus 121 Posted August 4, 2013 The Offline file service can do that all on its own, even without 'help' from W7's multimedia services :( Check what services are running - use Black Viper's guide to turn off unnecessary services. orcinus 121 Posted August 5, 2013 Search your C:\ drive for Arma2OA.rpt (location varies according to OS, & maybe Steam vs. DVD install). Create a link to the file on your desktop for convenience. It's a text file; open with notepad or, much better, with notepad ++. It may be huge if you've been playing for a long time. If so, delete it. The game will re-create it when next it starts. The RPT is a log file of messages and errors/warnings from the game, purely one-way so you can edit, comment, or delete it in perfect safety. Start the game; run in SP mode which will eliminate possible effects . play. When a freeze occurs, wait until a minute or so after it un-freezes then pause & open the RPT. If there are any error or warning messages, post the RPT in a spoiler. Also worth browsing through Windows Event Viewer for system & application events, looking for any warning & error messages with appropriate time-stamps. If NVIDIA has set up an event log (AMD s/w does) browse that too. Post any relevant error/warning messages in another spoiler. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
kklownboy 43 Posted August 5, 2013 You may have a "Global" setting, that is allowing the Vidcard/RAM to down clock while in "2D" mode of the menu's. This is in you Nvidia 3d settings. Also a Mouse prog can take focus from the game when in menu.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Horus 83 Posted August 6, 2013 Your shortcut is not good because @ACR need ArmA 2: CO... The Arma 2: Army of the Czech Republic is the addon for Arma 2: Combined Operations. It can not be played seperately. ...then you can't use -noCB and -cpuCount at same time -noCB = Turns off multicore use. It slows down rendering but may resolve visual glitches. -cpuCount=<number> = Change to a number less or equal than numbers of available cores. orcinus 121 Posted August 13, 2013 I've never seen "Obsolete Animations" errors. Run a search of the forums from Google or whatever. You are not running the 1.62 vanilla, which is version 1.62.95248. 103718 is an obsolete beta. Debugging should never be commenced with either a beta or mods loaded. Open the main game directory and find Arma2OA.exe. Place a shortcut to it on your desktop, right click to open it, selecting Properties, and edit the target line to add the text in red: "[i]drive[/i]:\[i]game directory[/i]\arma2oa.exe" [color=#ff0000]-mod=[/color] That will start the vanilla game with no mods. Now do back to the game directory, open "Expansion" and delete that ancient beta folder. Start the game & see what happens now. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Not surprised it crashed if it was trying to deal with those absurd speed ranges, whatever else might be going on. I think you might save yourself a lot of time & hassles in the long run by uninstalling he game, deleting all the mods then reinstalling the game only & see if the vanilla game runs properly before installing anything else like Dayz or other mods/addons. One possibility is that you have one or more cores parking, though the symptoms don't really fit; but anyway, open Task Manager when you aren't running any programs, then click on "Resource Monitor" & look at the CPU graphs. If any of them are labelled "Parked" that needs to be changed (Win 7 & 8 effectively switch off one or more cores if the load drops, takes a whole before it un-parks them). Also it seems that your HDD is a bit old. Good practice is to buy a new HDD every two~ years and use the old one as backup. PS; Is your HDD attached to the Intel, or Asmedia SATA Controller?
